Mechanics of shop skills

Anyone has a general idea of how shops work in game? There aren’t any gameplay vids with using shops other than the videos available in tosbase.

Do you charge a certain fee for doing the service?
Is there a side crafting level where the more repairs/enhancing you do, the potential for better upgrades goes up?
Do customers know your skill level? (if the skill affects the service at all rather than just the cd)
Are the shops available in the field as well? (pardoner skill shop video seems to be in the field though)
Can you afk in a shop? (I imagine hundreds of service shops if this is the case.)
How many service jobs can you do with one shop?
Are shops indefinite?
Why do alchemist shops disappear after use? (could be only from the tosbase vids though)

This is coming from a merchant main in RO so I’m rather concerned about how shops work, especially since there isn’t any class that can set up a shop selling items, but only service shops. I like the idea though, beats a competitive economy any day.

Could give a mammonite-like skill to the squires too, if they get money for their maintenance services.

  1. Yes, this service fee is set by you. (Ex: You can charge 1k or 10k for each repair made by Squire.)
  2. No.
  3. Probably not, but who knows.
  4. I don’t know, but it would be nice.
  5. Yes, you can set up shop and AFK.
  6. Only 1. Squires can only either repair, buff armor, or buff weapons, for example.
  7. Probably.
  8. I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure they don’t disappear after one use.

Would the service cost anything for the squire/alchemist? Like repair stones or similar.

For 5 and 6, I meant if each shop opened can only do a limited number of service jobs. Basically I’m trying to find out if the market is actually worth it for active merchants.

If your confirmed facts are true, it would be completely pointless to main a service class since people will generally create a active, farming character while having an afk character doing the service. Unless they can be used in the field and there’s no quick portal to town whatsoever, with the exception of dievirbys

Hm, I don’t have the answer to those to be honest. I’ve seen Squire’s Weapon Maintenance at work from a customer’s point of view, so that’s really all I know.

I believe the Alchemist shop is disappearing due to the player cancelling it maybe?

This is a pretty old post but since the new system is rolled out, I figured this could use a proper reply for new/returning players looking for a little light shed on the subject.

Q: Do you charge a certain fee for doing the service?
A: Yes, you are able to decide what prices you wish to charge players for whichever service you are providing.

Q: Is there a side crafting level where the more repairs/enhancing you do, the potential for better upgrades goes up?
A: No, the effectiveness of some of the class shops such as Pardoner’s Spell Shop skill are dependent on the level of the skill “Spell Shop” and the level of the skill you are providing in your shop.

Q: Do customers know your skill level? (if the skill affects the service at all rather than just the cd)
A: The shop’s level is indicated in the title of your shop, to the left. In Pardoner’s “Spell Shop”, the level of the skill being sold will be within the shop itself.

Q: Are the shops available in the field as well? (pardoner skill shop video seems to be in the field though)
A: To my best knowledge. Shops may be placed anywhere you desire. There may be a few exceptions but I have yet to be unable to setup a shop, inside or outside of any towns.

Q: Can you afk in a shop? (I imagine hundreds of service shops if this is the case.)
A: Each “Team” may have ONE service shop opened that will stay open providing the server or channel doesn’t crash. This shop will stay online whether you switch characters, log out, or shut your computer off completely. You may switch characters and play on that character while your shop is open, and you may even use your own shop to your benefit. You may open a SECOND shop on another character but if you log off or change characters, the first shop you opened WILL CLOSE and the latest shop you opened will stay open. It is possible to have two shops open at the same time, however you will have to leave your computer on with that character logged in and hope you do not get a vga error while you’re away.

Q: How many service jobs can you do with one shop?
A: Each service shop has it’s own purpose. To my best knowledge there are currently two shops which are able to provide more than one benefit. The Pardoner’s “Spell Shop”, and the Enchanter’s “Armor Shop”. Both are able to provide multiple benefits within, however the Pardoner’s shop is mainly used for Blessing, Sacrament, and Aspersion.

Q: Are shops indefinite?
A: Assuming the server/channel doesn’t go down(which they do during maintenance), or you run out of reagents, your shop will stay up until you decide to take it down.

Q: Why do alchemist shops disappear after use? (could be only from the tosbase vids though)
A: I’ve never seen this happen, might’ve been the player closing the shop or a bug that displays it as not open after use. Probably been fixed since this original post.
