[Mechanics] Number of Hit Objects by an Attack

Hello :slight_smile: I’m pretty new here,I play as a Swordsman /Sw-Hl-Barb/, and I couldn’t manage to get more hits than 3 /even with skill/, so I’d like to ask some questions,
Q: how many object can I hit with an attack?
Q: Is it affected by AoE ratio?
Q: how to increase the limit?
Q: Is there actually any skill of my build that has no limit of that?

Thank you for any responses :slight_smile:

Depend on your AoE Att Ration.

See above.

See bove.

I think all skills have a certain limit on hits but i can be wrong, Hopelite Finestra increase the AoE ration (i don’t remember know if it is an attribute).

You can stack it with items, do a search in tosbase and it will show the items with that, Five Hammer is a beast, it provide you 5 AoE ratio, but since it is a Lv 40 weapon, you will have to invest heavy on it for more damage, not to count that, since you took Highlander, it is useless for you being a 1h weapon.

You can change the Grade option from White to Orange to check the weapons, just be aware that not all the weapons are implemented in game yet.

Hi kjuba,

There are three(!) kinds of Area skills in Tree of Savior:
-skills which use AoE ratio mechanics (limited by your stats & enemy stats)
-skills which use ‘target limit’ (skill indicates the amount of enemies it may hit - doesn’t depend on enemy size or your stats, but amount of targets cannot be changed)
-skills without AoE ratio mechanics (will hit all enemies in range)

Most swordie skills have AoE mechanics.

Skills with AoE ratio mechanics
The amount of enemies you are able to hit depends on:
A. Your character’s AoE attack ratio
(press F1 to check it - it is 3 lines below your Physical attack stat).
Swordies start with base AoE attack ratio = 4.
Wizard starts with 3.
Cleric starts with 3.
Archer has 0.
You may boost your AoE attack ratio with equips, buffs, potions, and more.

B. Enemy AoE defence ratio.
The enemy defence ratio depends on their size.
Sizes are: Small (S), Medium (M), Large (L), Boss (XL)
S = 1 AoE defence
M = 1.5~2
L = 3
XL = 4~
Some skills in-game are able to reduce enemy AoE defence ratio.
=> Circling (falconer, archer class) will decrease enemy AoE defence in an area.
=> Joint penalty + Hangman’s Knot (linker, wizard class) is able to reduce the AoE defence of enemies which are linked. Amount of linked enemies depends on their Joint Penalty skill level.

To determine the amount of enemies you may hit:
For each hit (each skill, each normal attack)
=> Add your base AoE attack ratio (swordie = 4)

  • equipment AoE attack ratio
  • skill AoE attack ratio (if your skill has it)
    = your total AoE attack ratio
  1. When you hit multiple enemies, the enemy with the highest AoE defence ratio will be hit first.

  2. [Your attack’s total AoE attack ratio] - (Highest enemy AoE defence ratio) = the AoE attack ratio you have left

  3. If it is sufficient (higher than 0), you will hit the next enemy (with highest AoE defence)
    ~And so on, until your AoE attack ratio is 0.

Check your build skill AoE attack ratios here, hover your mouse on the skill icons to read the AoE attack ratio (if any): https://tos.neet.tv/skill-planner#1126
