Why keep it like a Marriage System? I prefer a kind of achievement like:

BRO SYSTEM!

Welcome to the new bro system in insert any mmorpg ever played; you and your hommie-BF-partner have adquired this awesome feature that allows you to:

-More SP - Stamina regeneration when partying together.
-2 custome matching hats.
-More HP regeneration.
-1 extra slot in barrack (you two can fight for who will have it with a little pvp match, or leat a little coin in game decide).

But with great power there is Great Downsides:
-If your partner dies near you, you will also die (we know you two can’t live without the other).
-If there are more than two bros in a party, only 1 bro buff is applied.
**

Requirements:

  1. Have been in the friend list of each other at least for 3 weeks.
  2. Have played in the same party and map at least 100 hours (if one disconects it stops counting).
  3. Have kicked the ass of at least 30 different bosses together.

When the 3 requirements are complete, you just need to complete a quest that will test your bond and the Goddess of Friendship - Bros will bless your relation.

PD: If any of you eliminates the other from the friend list you two loss the status and can’t become again bros with this person (#neverAgain).

This should make the system more challenging and a real deal between people; also makes it a must to play with someone promoting the cooperation in the game.

I would like a system like that but idk maybe is too much  don’t mind me I should be sleeping right now but I had the idea :low_brightness:

PD: yeah i also was testing the reply as topic option; really useful :100:

This is one of those “I feel bad because I’m lonely and other people have bros” situations.

Pretty much exactly the same as the marriage system, as far as concept goes.
Except that if IMC charges us for this, we’ll be totally pissed because we think it’s against the spirit of friendship.
I don’t see any reason not to implement this, beyond some opportunity cost issues with the marriage system.

I will list the pros and cons I can immediately see, assuming this is NOT a paid system and that it is limited to one ‘pairing’ for any player at any given time.

Pros

  • More fun mechanics!
  • Funny to watch two people die.
  • IMC can sell bro-related cosmetics and cosmetic perks for moolah.

Cons

  • Would add an extra layer of work for future updates if it becomes too involved in combat and some harder content might be physically impossible to do with bros. (and people will bash on IMC for this)
  • Might clash with additions to the friends/social systems. (similar to previous issue)
  • May outshine the marriage system (if added) and reduce gain. (questionably)

Others (minorities & uncertainties)

  • Some may consider that this will encourage people to avoid randoms in fields or segregate parties into 2-2-2’s because of the benefits of playing with bros.
(less overall social interaction in some cases, it only promotes cooperation between two people!)
  • It can punish single players trying to join parties through neglect/discouragement. (read previous)

Will there be an opportunity for gals to be pals?

This question was unavoidable. Also has an obvious answer that had to be given.
Probably need to rename it as the BF system.

Whatever you think is right.

Maybe a BDSM slave system.

Hmm.

this. pls. dev. I am definitely going for M

sadomasochism

/ˌseɪdəʊˈmæsəˌkɪzəm; ˌsædəʊ-/
noun

  • the combination of sadistic and masochistic elements in one person, characterized by both aggressive and submissive periods in relationships with others.

Some people may have difficulties with this system… so I propose an option allowing us to alternate roles.

Worst example ever.

You know that Mario abandoned his brother to chase after a chick right? And if you played Mario RPG you know that Luigi doesn’t really want to help Mario is his quest for p*ssy.

So what you are suggesting is a third wheel system to go along with the marriage one right? Awesome.

My Bro and me used to marry in other MMORPGs we played. But it’s fine because we said No Homo, right?

This cracked me up xD Hahahahaha

Thanks for using my topic to test it, bro!

Just saying ‘no homo’ used to be enough. Now theres more requirements. Ex. Ripping off a patch of chest hair.

Well, no Problem for me, but Bro doesn’t have chest hair. Maybe I could rip off some from his armpits? And still say ‘no homo’?

CAUTION: I will use RO and LoL comparisons here; if you are a sensitive person who hates comparisons then you can stop here n.n!

I like how you think  Really well explained so here are the thinks I thought could make it work:

About System:

-Ovbiously is FREE. It is designed in order to make people have a little reward by just playing with more adventurers.
-It is not a 2 people only restriction. I used the name BRO because i don’t know many synonyms for the word. But is more like buddies or really good friends(you can have multiple of them).
-Is almost the same as marriage system but it tackles some problems that the marriage system has like:

  1. Less controversial; You can be a with any person without being a forbidden topic.
  2. More posibilities: You can have multiples buddies.
  3. It makes more appealing to be partying and not only soloing.
  4. More than just a Meh feature. I remember playing RO a lot, and I can say that the ONLY true class that had benefits was the Soul Linker who could use his personal buffs in his partner. And even like that not all the Soul Linkers where married.
  5. You avoid to serious look in the eyes and : “Will you marry me? #NoHomo” situation with your friends.

About the Rewards

It is true that they can be too overhelming, but I was thinking in two type of rewards:

First Buddie Reward
Only when you get the first buddie:
-One more slot barrack.
-Custom match.

Any Buddie Reward
With every buddie you have, when partying:
-More SP - Stamina and Hp regeneration; but if you have more than 1 buddie in the party this won’t stack (it counts only like 1); but if there is someone who is not your buddie in the party, the other person won’t get the buff but you and your buddie will.

What does it implies?
-That if i want to party with someone, ex: with other 4 people, and everyone of them has the buddie buff; they can invite me without losing their buff, if I play enough with them maybe I can also become a buddie of some of them
-Thet even if there are a party with 2 buddies or 4 buddies or 3 buddies and 1 Squidward they (the buddies) will get the same buff making meaningless to divide the party.

About the custom:
The custom MUST be something BADASS but only affect your look not your stats. I mean I would love to see a party of people running around me with BLACK GLASSES.

-Random Me: “OMG you guys look awesome, how do you get them?”
-Random Buddie 2: “We have been PARTYING HARD!”

About the Buff
The buff is only in regeneration because I think it can be more like a: I am with my buddies I can give more fight type of buff, meaning you can fight longer along your friends. Also it shouldn’t be a lot, I think the best reward from the system can be the barrack space so the Regeneration can be capped at 10% more regeneration or 15%. But we must see the original values in game in order to be precise.

I want this buff to be like in LoL, the 1 stack of Dragon Buff: it is little buff but you know it can make a difference at dying or surviving with 20hp. But also not meaning that without the buff you are useless, it is just a 10%; “We can destroy them just 2 more kicks will be needed”.

Abut the two people dying
It could be fun when the party has only 2 people, but I think that when there are more than 2 buddies we could make only to die a random buddie from the first victim!
EX:
There is a 7 people party, everyone has at least 1 buddie; then the tank dies SO one of the tank buddies must die (if he has more than 1 in the party)! but not everyone, because then all the party will be in the ground like a domino effect even with some clerics xD!

What do you think? Maybe change the buff? Maybe let everyone in the party die?
I like when people discuss ideas with arguments and solutions

I think one of the more recent Chinese MMOs, Revelation has a peculiar system - it’s something involving “maids” and “butlers” as player secondary jobs, that (after forming a contract with another player, who becomes their “master” for a set time) can provide unique buffs etc. Cat-eared maids for everyone!
…Ahem.
Anyway, could work one way or another.

I mean, I understand what you’re saying is more of a significant / long-lasting bond within the game kinda thing, there are always recruitment, Big-Bro/Sis Lil-Bro/Sis things (Mentor - Mentee system). This is more for players coming into the game, but I feel like they’re a worthwhile system for recruiting new players.

I feel like if we had such a system, it would be cool to put a unique spin on it specifically for ToS. It would be could if squires could literally esquire someone else (maybe only other swordies)?

More on the topic

At the moment it just seems rather gimmicky.
The ‘value’ for the rewards aside, I don’t exactly feel supportive of this.
I don’t disagree with it, but I can say some people will be on my friend list specifically for bonus stats.

…back in my day we had to walk to valkrum dunes – uphill both ways, mind you – wearing nothing but a sprout hat and subligar…
