Massive player loss in the last weeks

Not enough interesting content. R10 itself wasn’t a huge change from R9. Would like to see some repeatables that aren’t either piss easy blessed shard farming or require a certain group build setup without much deviation (Raids).

Also, where are the master circles?

I was with you, then i tried out the game. MS2 is just a nail in the coffin pretty much. The silver exploit hit at the worst time. During content drought and ms2 around the corner

Pretty much everything tos has, maplestory 2 has implemented better.

The only 3 exceptions id say is

Graphic: tos wins hands down but we all know how buggy the game is
Combat/class system: Tos has way better options but balancing issue as well as actual combat bugs/desync,body sliding, etc
boobs: yup

bland and soulless is ToS compared to MS2…

I simply couldn’t stand those Minecraft-like graphics for more than 5 minutes. Also the game is really meant for kids, I would probably enjoy it more if I was 10 or 12, but I guess I’m too old now :haha:

That’s the sad part. In one corner we have a finished product with polished features, in the other corner we have a lovely big mess.

Chibi + Minecraft is the worst combination ever.
Although the game is truly amazing and fun, i can’t stomach its artstyle. Which is sad because i really wanted to like the game and get the hell out of this RNG hellhole.

TOS graphic and class system + MS2 everything else would be a 10/10 game.

Agree 100%. they would have to fix the balancing too ofc

Can I just point out these steam stats since no one seems to care about using actual numbers?

Based on these numbers it looks like the player count was inflated in September due to the Popo Point Shop and then we experienced a “massive player loss” in the last few weeks when the Popo Point Shop was taken away. To me it looks like we returned to pre-PPS levels, which is surprising because that almost looks like we didn’t really lose all that many players. It’s surprising because you’d think that with everything happening you’d think it’d look like a more significant dent compared to the pre-PPS levels.

Really, I’d be more concerned about the slow bleeding-out that we’ve been experiencing over a longer time span. We’ve lost about 9% of our player count since half a year ago.

game really does need a “TOS 2.0” and re-release at this point with better marketing, functional netcode and meaningful PVP.

PVE is in an OK spot imo. Minus the meaningless world bosses that drop garbage besides their card.

I agree with what some said. It’s been for awhile more of a gradual bleed than a massive loss. The last real massive loss I could recall was during global release until 5 months after but I guess that was expected for a new MMORPG that arrived with a lot of issues.

Lately I’ve noticed that the most active players are longstanding ones with few new players probably trying the game out. It seems the most popular reasons for dropping the game as a dedicated player - either temporarily or permanently - are burnout (hello RNG) and the lack of good PVP content at the moment (still waiting for GTW).

You forget that we had rank10 in between. So even if the numbers were inflated it went back down rapidly despite one of the biggest content patch of the year just happening. Yeah it may have went down due to popo being gone but the numbers should be higher still and not “the same”

Also if you actually played the game during rank 10 release all the way up until the silver exploit and ms2 release you would feel the difference between the amount of shops/players/shouts around

To be honest TOS is just a pile of ■■■■.

The developers either don’t use their brains at all when implementing something or they simply suck at making a compromise between utility and actual use ingame.

Just looking at my character, I see so many flaws, like attack speed not affecting magic skills that are just physical actions (Effigy: stabbing a doll with a nail; Aqua Benedicta: throwing a glass bottle on the ground)
and even have unnecessarily long and broad animations (which could’ve saved time and game resources if simplified) that are not in the least spectacular enough to enjoy watching.

Then there are the bugs like friendly targets counting towards the target limit of skills, like “what the hell did you do to make this a thing?”. They don’t count towards AoE-attack ratio-influenced skills, so why for target limit? Is that so you don’t have to code extra for PVP scenarios?
That’s just bullshit.

And there are other issues like zombies not drawing any aggro unless the player uses Fade since the player aggro takes priority. Then why do the zombies draw aggro in the first place? What’s the point if they can’t because the player overwrites their ability to do so and thus blocks them out from collecting any monsters?

This is just hilarious how the game systems negate&invalidate each other, making the game a horror to play even without the bug infestation taken into account.

That on top of all the restrictions for the normal player to fight bots, the lack of endgame content and the multi layer RNG grind for good equipment (drop + anvil + awakening + enchant) makes the game a bad unfinished product in the early stages of beta-testing at best.

There are a lot of interesting features like skill interactions, but they are few and lack capabilities to be useful.
Some features are retarded like e.g. that you can mount Merkabah for +100% skillfactor damage, since you are unmounted if you use a skill or a summon or a companion of you simply attacks a monster, so gg.

If basic features of the game make them useless or outright sabotage them, what’s the point of having them in the first place? So many resources wasted for nothing in the end.

No wonder people are leaving.

Even if the developers overhaul the whole thing, unless they start rebalancing items [that all non-random stat items are equally strong and viable] and new contents [in a way that everyone can participate if they have decent equipment, not just defence reduction & ignore Classes & builds and regardless of buffer and healer], there is little hope that the game actually recovers.

Well i play on Fedi when i start this thread i got a hard time find a Pardonershop or a Gemroaster on my server.

I dont think its all because of poposhop i feel that my server lost alot of players ^^

The server actually received a full migration from other game I suppose of a massive guild that became the most active.
I heard something funny, yesterday they had 3 rank 10 players guild master included helping a low level guildmate of theirs for sausys9room challenge stage 6 and they failed miserably, the 5th one was a low level waiting 350 to equip good gear so he could not do much. I never expected something like this possible in rank 10 era.

All I hear is that players got banned after hack, or gone to play another game, with friends who doesn’t want to be left in ToS alone.

I took a break and I’m not going to return until I see real changes. Everything just takes so much time to be even accepted by the development team.

We said DPK didn’t work, took years for them to change.
We said base dmg for skills didn’t work, took years also.
We said world bosses are being controlled by single guilds, took so long for them to do the first action.
We said transcendence was a problem, only a few months ago they reviewed the calculations.
We said clerics had way too much utility and dmg in pvp, took years to change anything.
We said those restrictions only hurt real players, not bots. Took years to review the system.

It’s clear they don’t play their own game. They are only adding more RNG layers, making enhancement difficult, a must to do late game content, but also extremely frustrating.

Most classes need major remakes. Thieves, scouts, alchemist… So many.

I cant imagine that… Silute seems very well in that matter.

On Klaipeda, I noted that one 1k+ SPR pardoner shop stopped showing up. And a whole guild decided to line up their shops where it wasn’t obstructing the warp statue.

And that’s about it. Other than the usual ragequit at ToS RNG to go build a house in MS2, everything has been relatively “normal”, if not a bit slower.

i dont think MS2 have much effect on the number of TOS
but is a sum of

  1. TOS update is not very interesting
  2. TOS have become a daily game, if you miss a patch of content, you will struggle to catch up with anything
  3. New player/return player unfriendly
  4. RNG
  5. like you mention performance issue
