Man in hiding[?]

Where it happened (which map, which quest, which npc, etc) : Crystal Mine 2f

Bug Description :
There is a barrel in this map with a possible event in it. If I press B, my character will running forever to the barrel and the event never occurs. And if i take one step, the description “man in hiding” appears for just a few seconds.

Update: Tried attack the barrel, jump in it, press B in all direction and nothing happens. I’m not sure if the description is really “man in hiding”, because fade out very quickly.

and when it does work its mistranslated…

he asks if monsters are still roaming the area and your only replies are "I still have it, or I do not have it.

Oh, that’s makes sense. I’m not sure if is really mistranslated because the description just appears for really just a few seconds. I tried screenshot it, but failed, was way too fast for me. x(
Anyway, there no option to reply either, just can’t trigger the event.

I know that this is a really old post, but you can now talk to the man in the barrel, but you still only have two available answers and with both he still tells you to go away even if you have killed all the nearby monsters.

It really is. I feel like we should be able to get a small cinematic quest with this.

well, gonna bump this question since I love exploring the world :smiley:
I think if, just if this is really a trigger quest, then the key is not killing all mobs.
when we say “no, there is no vubbe around”
he said " you liar. I can smell vubbe from here, get away, this is my spot" or something.

so, we kinda need to find some kind of strong fragrance to make the man unable to smell vubbe (notice that the beer barrel accross the area when you try to investigate, it said, “reek of beer” and such.
and there are some “useless” consumeable item from level 50 or so mob that have fragrance, [laplase mushroom] (http://www.tosbase.com/database/items/640131/) (from mobs level 128) or pine mushroom(from mobs level 55) for example.) or find a barrel to hide along with the man XD

this theory might be exagerating, he might only be there to make some conversation in cafetaria~ :laughing:

and something is funny too, like in klaipeda, pyromancer lab, a book said “it’s to hard to read”
or a retired man that tells us to make our own equips and have some flowers withering away beside him (notice that in level 53 or something map a lot of “useless” flower drops from the mob~ :laughing:)

well I myself haven’t been able to trigger these (if these really are hidden) quest properly tho :yum: :joy:

both answers yes and no, the man tells you to go away.

BTW, whats with the spoiled potato nearby? Ate all I could and not much happened. The screen went black and I got some damage. Thought it might be related to the guy in hiding, but nothing happened

Necro bump.

Any idea what this npc does now? Is it for a job advancement or is there some hidden quest we don’t know about yet?

edit: oops, should’ve bumped one (if any) in general discussion.

There are quite some “mysterious” event npcs like this one. For example: On fedimian after completing certain quests, you can check the jars and a message will say: “The (cant remember) master is looking at you from the distance” But that master is not on fedimian.

Probably future content? or incomplete quests. Yet, they are really fun to poke around for a while =P
