Major reasons to NOT PLAY this game?

Heya all!

Tried TOS in a beta some months back, but didnt play much, just about 1 and a half hour, more or less.
The game has its charms and I’m thinking about trying it, if you guys can clarify a bit of my doutbs, wich I doubt will all be satisfatory, but anyway… just please refrain from fanboyism if you’re gonna give input. Thank you!

1- How is the game concerning “pay to win”? People who constantly spend money get gameplay advantages?¿ And does the future of this game relies on this?

2- How is the itemization? Because boy MMOs suck at it. I rather Diablo/PoE/RPGs and the kind, where we constantly get loot, lots of change and different equipment (rare, unique, etc) that synergizes with skills~abilities of each class, providing specialization in builds.
(Hopefully this game ain’t about those crafting systems that slow/reduce itemization to such a degree that it goes full boring -> basically a lottery for upgrading the same gear over and over, hence repeat.)

3- How is the boting and questing inside the game? Are there choices or is linear, bots can repeat forever and be rewarded the same as players?

4- Concerning balance, variety and builds. Well the game is new and probably imba (unless devs did a superb job), but is there differentiation inside each class, or is it practically all clones going cookie-cutter with the exception of that odd fella?

5- How do you guys see the future, does the company care and is smart when making corrections and hearing the players? Doing change and innovation? Or do you guys feel this was made by people who never played a game in their lives, and kinda clueless due to that.

Thanks for anyone who takes the time to answer. I believe these are the biggest questions regarding any new adventure-MMO type of game nowadays.

Also feel free to point other games that I might like as well, considering the above.

  1. Game has purchaseable advantages, fairly minor ones, more likely to come. Game often provides an in-game opportunity for those same items at a low rate via dungeons.

  2. Sometimes its good sometimes its not? There are various types of loot and some are interesting but its not on PoE’s scale as far as quantity.

  3. Botting isn’t going anywhere but that’s fairly common. Quests are linear.

  4. NA market is a lot of cookie cutter stuff, some things aren’t great in all situations due to things like Ground Only skills (Flame Ground, Frost cloud,) skills that flip magic circles and more, meaning they can lose power on certain encounters. Some classes are quite weak, Itos is behind Ktos balance by more than a month and has decided to do its own balancing (which can be hit or miss).

  5. Niche game, small playerbase. This game captures a lot of nostalgic players from Ragnarok Online. Devs advocated it as being a more casual affair, does not seem to have lasting casual appeal however.

The only reason not to play it is that the devs seem not to care about their own game.

They are more like the latter than the former. Look at all the complaints (and their lack of answers) in the forums.
Basically, they only act if things become too big to be ignored.

I’m confused on what you are asking for because of the title… but ill tell you how i feel about what you say…

First off it will be free in 2 days, so its not going to cost anything to try it.

  1. I dont see it as p2w, but you can buy tokens with money and sell them for silver to f2p. Also you can enchant headgear and sell them, but most the time you wont get anything good.

  2. Right now id say itemization isnt amazing right now because its just released. You wont be getting a ton of interesting loot all the time. Stats are static on similar items unlike games like diablo3, but you can upgrade them. There are some items with really good effects that you can build a character just around those items. More will definately be added later. About the crafting, most good items needs to be crafted with materials you find, but everyone can make them. Just need the recipe and mats.

  3. Bots dont do quests in this game. They only farm and spam chat. Not really sure what you are asking on this one though…

  4. There is alot differentiation in classes from what ive seen. however, there are also alot of people who picked the same builds though because as you said everything isnt balanced yet. If people didnt then it wouldnt be called cookie cutter… Once new ranks get releaed and they balance you will see even more variety. IMO as long as they keep rank resets out there will be alot of variety.

  5. I think if they fix the major issues it will be fine, but if they dont do it quick enough it will fail. To me it seems they listen to us on some things, but either they dont know how to fix the others or havent finished them. Maybe they just dont have enough staff.

I figure most casual players will either re-roll or quit here. That is probably the biggest reason players will quit since it’s such an abrupt change from the rest of the game.

IMC should have made multiple routes to XP up, expand on missions, dungeons and such. Sitting in a group and tapping my cooldowns every 90 seconds while watching netflix for hours and hours… it does indeed get old and I ask myself ‘why am I doing this?’
