Mage choices (tradeoffs between mage/linker/elem?)

Hey guys, I’m currently debating on a few different class choices:

  1. mage c3, elem c3
  2. mage c1 > cryo c1 > linker c1 > elem c3
    3a) mage c1 > cryo c1 > linker c2 > elem c2
    3a) mage c1 > cryo c1 >linker c1 > elem c2 > linker c2
(3a/b are the same build but in different orders)

Which build do you think is superior?

with 1) I plan on focusing on devasting nukes with quickcast, probably meteor-focused
with 2) I plan on focusing on thunder and hail with freeze debuffs coming from cryo and linker to help with mobs
with 3a/b it’s similar to 2 above, but with a heavier focus on linker. The downside is that I don’t get the c3 skills in elem, though I could still easily get hail/lightning/meteor/prominence.

What do you guys think?

Unless you like soloing a lot I highly suggest 3, as 2 in linker is going to be strong no matter how far into the game sharing buffs is useful. Mage C3 is a hell of a hard time going through C2, if you were going to take elem to c3 you’d be better off getting 2points in pyro, surespell isn’t that necessary to elem from what I’ve heard and seen videos of but I haven’t personally played it,

Well I’m not investing into mage for surespell, I’m doing it for quickcast which increases your spell damage by 50% while it’s active if you upgrade the 5 attribute levels. If you combine that with hail or lightning or meteor it would be pretty substantial, esp since the spells have twice as long of a CD compared to quickcast.

It’s definitely one of the few options you can choose that will scale no matter how lategame you get as a +50% value will count whether at this level with those skills or even at rank 10, if you’re going with big damage like meteor it’s a great plan, but it will definitely not be very pleasant leveling Wizard C2, I imagine by the time you get elem though you’ll find it might be worth it in that case, might also keep your skills relevant much longer as well.

Between those 3 builds anyhow I’d say either go with

  1. Pure DPS
  2. Very party friendly, linking will also increase any AoE DPS directly by the amount of things linked, so it’s party friendly and won’t lose out too much to that +50% you’d go for.

The main benefit to going mage over linker/cryo would be that your AoEs are big enough where you don’t really need to hangman’s knot them, it’s just extra safety by the CC more than anything.

if you go for 1, I must ask someting…

do you have friend to play with?_?

yes > continue your dream

no> welcome to hell

If you’re going ele go all the way to c3. It’s not worth taking if you stop at c1 or c2.

How so?

@DrRM
Right, but even though it’s hard to level would it still be worth it?

Linker’s spiritual chain doesn’t share all kinds of buffs. As far as i know, only self buffs such as pain barrier and concentrate are shared. Others such as enchant fire or reflect shield don’t get shared at all

Enchant fire and Reflect shield are party wide buffs. If you have that buff, so does whoever you’re linked to.

they work by proximity, you must be close to the person on the party for the buff to pass

Yes, but if you have someone linked, and they’re not close enough for you to buff them, they don’t get the buff.

Because they are not ‘personal buffs’, they are buffs that can already be shared with allies, linker’s spiritual chain doesn’t change these.

Is there going to still be more classes?

maybe…

prob in the future

not maybe, its a definite yes,.

The obt trailer shows 2 7~8 Tier wiz classes (Warlock and Featherfooter)

I know and they appear on the link I posted…

but, I wasn’t sure if it meant classes as in rank 7 >>> or classes as in the 5th main class >>>
