Looks like kToS is going to be merging servers next month

I’m done with this game too. I’ll keep farming dungeons for token when I feel like it but I’ll get back to my shipfus on world of warships soon enough.

New WoW expansion coming out but its gonna be terrible, not as bad as ToS but not worth the pricetag.

Black Desert Online is just a flashier ToS that is an even bigger mess. Same for Blade & Soul.

Thank you IMC for ignoring every single swordsman thread. You never even replied you were forwarding our concerns or were taking our feedback into consideration.

I’ll need to enter into white knight mode to answer this.

Even if they don’t reply directly to your pleads, doesn’t mean that they aren’t listening.

You could also make your part by explaining them detailed where in the swordsman tree is lacking, what needs to be changed or enhanced. There are very few threads that actually give a solid feedback, the rest are people ranting aimlessly.

As a developer myself, I find upsetting when my client comes to and say ’ X is not working, fix it’ instead of directing me to where the issue resides.

Also as a side note… Not all classes will be equal, it’s how all games work.

They visit the forums every now and then…

Don’t waste your taime, it was made by KoG.

Admittedly I don’t know anything about them. Are they money hungry or something? I’m curious.

Ehh. They’re more of a P2W game producer. Take Elsword for example. You have to buy a B-Slot for real money, otherwise half of your capable keybindings are blocked off. Imagine if IMC made it so expanding your hotkeys required money to unlock. And that’s not the only example, you’d end up spending at least $20~30 to become relevant in the game otherwise you find it more taxing than fun from the get go. At least ToS can actually be fun without spending money on it.

Eh though, playing Closers is a little better off than Elsword, but KoG’s always been like that. Naddic is just most of the good with some of the bad from KoG’s company division. That said, it’s alright. Has its fair share of challenge.

On topic: They had like, what, 5 servers? Someone fill me in, because a server merge when you’re catering to one country like KR isn’t horrid. But it does show that this is like a defunct restaurant and it’s showing it’s signs of hemmoraging. Like heeey we opened like 5 sections for everyone but one is never full and all of them have their loners.

What @chillcross said. Elsword was so good at the beginning, but they ended “killing” the game, PW2, like for real, they even said that if you wanted to win in PvP you had to pay money.
Cash shop sets with stats, stupid scrolls to get your weap/equip +100 (joke but almost in terms of in game damage), classes aren’t balanced at all, new characters are always the Opie OP, TONS of fanservice to sell (because yeah), etc etc

Like I said, it was a nice game but they just… ugh

Thank you @chillcross and @Kvoex for the info.I’m the type who likes to throw money at cosmetics to look better, but not be better. So I suppose I’ll keep an eye on it with what you two have told me in mind.

A shame, really.Nothing else on my search looked interesting in the slightest. This genre is a hard one to be a fan of when it comes to MMO’s…

Do you play gw2? That game is like 80% cosmetics.

They been doing some shifty things lately though too.

Of course they’re merging… they killed the game. when people start making their own servers, their wont be no bots, no hackers, no restricted trading/marketplace, no nothing. so its really gonna be bad for IMC in the future

I just remember 3 months ago, when everyone was clamoring to have their own server.

I told you guys, it wasnt a great idea. In a short period of time we’d all just be merged back together.

I don’t get why people make such a big deal about the Korean server merge. It makes sense, considering Korean is a single country on it’s own. Of course it’s population per server is gonna be lower then EU/NA/SA/SEA, those are server’s for multiple countries together meaning the population for each of them is naturally a lot bigger…

@Kvoex Pretty much. I remember when they called it a childrens game. Nevermind the twerking anime asses with swimsuit editions.

@Melon It is indeed. I found Closers to be alright, but I lacked an english patch and playing Korean is suffering although I can make out basic mannerisms and words.

ToS is special as it’s a breakthrough the common stagnant nature of sweaty super graphic/no content games- However that specialty can’t really save itself when it’s shoddy at management. Black Desert was a hyped example that people found out is just the same as most other MMOs with not much new innovation wise. Bless seemed to have decent premises but has ahorrid and un-immersive combat system that looks like the dodgiest thing ever. Interestingly enough the more lively MMOs in Korea are trending to be very old ones that stayed alive through grit and commitment.

Was sort of hyped for Soul Worker, but it seems much less than I expected as well. I’ll give it a try when it goes to Gameforge, but my expectations are kill.

Yep. Because companies just release F2P games. What is a F2P game?

It’s a suicide project. Companies use F2P games to milk the cash shop and as soon as they can, fund new F2P projects. All cash grabs with no intention to retain players or for the game to be successful for the long-term.

As soon as a F2P game is released, what is going on?

  • RMT from day one deteriorating the economy.
  • Bots frustrating the playerbase and ruining immersion.
  • An unpredictable amount of income creates uncertainty with a company for how much time they should invest fixing certain problems/balancing certain things/adding new content. So they focus on only the essential things to extend the game enough to meet their profit goal.
  • Not enough resources to invest in proper PR and damage control.
  • Although majority of players would not invest heavily in pay to win, the fact is that enough players are willing to do this and pay hundreds to thousands in the process so it benefits a company to provide for these people.
  • F2P games also attract more toxic and immature players because it’s easily accessible to anyone regardless of their financial situation, making it so it’s not even a risk for people to try the game out so why not?
  • They don’t innovate and cling to weird game design concepts like the restrictions you see here that end up frustrating the gamer sooner rather than later, also shortening the retention.
  • Their lack of caring over player retention also means less money spent on babysitting larger populations as well as server maintenance.
  • Some other crap I’m too lazy to try to remember if you want to add to this.

F2P games also remove the “cost to do business” from RMTers making it so the bans we do to them aren’t actually hurting them because they pay nothing to just make new accounts and resume botting. They don’t pay anything to automated a bot program and they pay nothing to make a new account and come back to Tree of Savior after a ban.

Not to say P2P or subscription MMOs are guaranteed to be good though. But the F2P model, as noble an idea as it sounds, really just sucks in so many ways.

Leaving some posts aside…

Like @Melon said, it is really hard to find a game that looks interesting, and when it looks, can keep it up with the expectations…

I spent some time hopping from game to game, played a bit and was already full of it.
If everything goes wrong, I will just play FPSs and SP games until something good happens.

I’ve tried some of it with my boyfriend, and it’s alright, but still not the same pull that got me into ToS.I also like a more anime type style that’s rapidly going extinct in games.

He actually went back to it after playing this for a few months with me.It was nice while it lasted…

Oh you actually tried it? Would be nice to know your opinion of its mechanics. At the very least,it’s a very beautiful looking game.

Agreed. It’s basically the best character creator I’ve ever seen…and that’s about it.

Keep me updated if you ever find anything that looks good! I look every once in a while myself.
