Looks like kToS is going to be merging servers next month

Do you play gw2? That game is like 80% cosmetics.

They been doing some shifty things lately though too.

Of course they’re merging… they killed the game. when people start making their own servers, their wont be no bots, no hackers, no restricted trading/marketplace, no nothing. so its really gonna be bad for IMC in the future

I just remember 3 months ago, when everyone was clamoring to have their own server.

I told you guys, it wasnt a great idea. In a short period of time we’d all just be merged back together.

I don’t get why people make such a big deal about the Korean server merge. It makes sense, considering Korean is a single country on it’s own. Of course it’s population per server is gonna be lower then EU/NA/SA/SEA, those are server’s for multiple countries together meaning the population for each of them is naturally a lot bigger…

@Kvoex Pretty much. I remember when they called it a childrens game. Nevermind the twerking anime asses with swimsuit editions.

@Melon It is indeed. I found Closers to be alright, but I lacked an english patch and playing Korean is suffering although I can make out basic mannerisms and words.

ToS is special as it’s a breakthrough the common stagnant nature of sweaty super graphic/no content games- However that specialty can’t really save itself when it’s shoddy at management. Black Desert was a hyped example that people found out is just the same as most other MMOs with not much new innovation wise. Bless seemed to have decent premises but has ahorrid and un-immersive combat system that looks like the dodgiest thing ever. Interestingly enough the more lively MMOs in Korea are trending to be very old ones that stayed alive through grit and commitment.

Was sort of hyped for Soul Worker, but it seems much less than I expected as well. I’ll give it a try when it goes to Gameforge, but my expectations are kill.

Yep. Because companies just release F2P games. What is a F2P game?

It’s a suicide project. Companies use F2P games to milk the cash shop and as soon as they can, fund new F2P projects. All cash grabs with no intention to retain players or for the game to be successful for the long-term.

As soon as a F2P game is released, what is going on?

  • RMT from day one deteriorating the economy.
  • Bots frustrating the playerbase and ruining immersion.
  • An unpredictable amount of income creates uncertainty with a company for how much time they should invest fixing certain problems/balancing certain things/adding new content. So they focus on only the essential things to extend the game enough to meet their profit goal.
  • Not enough resources to invest in proper PR and damage control.
  • Although majority of players would not invest heavily in pay to win, the fact is that enough players are willing to do this and pay hundreds to thousands in the process so it benefits a company to provide for these people.
  • F2P games also attract more toxic and immature players because it’s easily accessible to anyone regardless of their financial situation, making it so it’s not even a risk for people to try the game out so why not?
  • They don’t innovate and cling to weird game design concepts like the restrictions you see here that end up frustrating the gamer sooner rather than later, also shortening the retention.
  • Their lack of caring over player retention also means less money spent on babysitting larger populations as well as server maintenance.
  • Some other crap I’m too lazy to try to remember if you want to add to this.

F2P games also remove the “cost to do business” from RMTers making it so the bans we do to them aren’t actually hurting them because they pay nothing to just make new accounts and resume botting. They don’t pay anything to automated a bot program and they pay nothing to make a new account and come back to Tree of Savior after a ban.

Not to say P2P or subscription MMOs are guaranteed to be good though. But the F2P model, as noble an idea as it sounds, really just sucks in so many ways.

Leaving some posts aside…

Like @Melon said, it is really hard to find a game that looks interesting, and when it looks, can keep it up with the expectations…

I spent some time hopping from game to game, played a bit and was already full of it.
If everything goes wrong, I will just play FPSs and SP games until something good happens.

I’ve tried some of it with my boyfriend, and it’s alright, but still not the same pull that got me into ToS.I also like a more anime type style that’s rapidly going extinct in games.

He actually went back to it after playing this for a few months with me.It was nice while it lasted…

Oh you actually tried it? Would be nice to know your opinion of its mechanics. At the very least,it’s a very beautiful looking game.

Agreed. It’s basically the best character creator I’ve ever seen…and that’s about it.

Keep me updated if you ever find anything that looks good! I look every once in a while myself.

This post was flagged by the community and is temporarily hidden.

I play 1 game of each genre typically at a time.

CCG - Hearthstone - Blizzard
Grand Strategy - Europa Universalis 4 - Paradox, might look at HOI4
FPS - CS GO; might look at overwatch - Valve
Strategy - AOE2 - Microsoft?
MMORPG - IToS - IMC

When one isnt going to well i just switch to a different genre. As you can tell Im not a game hopper though, I stick with good games.

Hmm. Well, looking for another “interesting MMO” is kind of hard.
Well, for now, the community in ToS… I mean, the people I know in ToS (in game and on the forum) are nice so it is what makes me want to continue the game for now.

Well If people are leaving, I will be back playing games… Alone ._.

You really like trolls and shitposters that much?

Yah I thought maybe, it seems alot of this community really likes that anime style. (except that 1 guy)

This is the first game Ive tried like that. And I really like the style too now. It’s weird being asian and not liking anime too much.

Mhm. Back when Elsword KR was the only server, KSSN’s weren’t as needed due to the lack of fraud. I had a korean nexon account since way back, so I could still access things freely without the need of their social security numbers.

Closers is a pretty smooth game. Depending on who you choose, everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. Could include combos, lockdown, damage, or any special perk. Because I am an ora I went with J for fisting priorities. Aesthetically it’s fun and the BGM is pretty good as well, but sort of generic as well. Gets pretty grindy but there’s other things to do in it. The characters all have their decent share of backstory as well, so it’s so much tacked on as much as things they’ll have to deal with later on. Optimization in the game’s alright.

But I think that’s my issue with it. It’s just alright, it doesn’t particularly captivate me or pull me in. I imagine if I had someone to play with though it would be much funner in the higher levels as you rank up. But alone it’s like a lesser but fancier looking DFO/DnF to me.

Then you’re not one of the person that makes me want to continue if I don’t know you :stuck_out_tongue:

Either way, jokes aside, troll aren’t friends with me (yet?) so yeah, I can’t say I like them.
And from the few amounts of posts I…posted?, I found, most of the times, nice people answering me. (Like I said, most of the time…)

Well I have the ClosersHQ site bookmarked for updates. If they give us a date for an NA version I’d love to check it out with you.

I feel the same though.Pulled into it because it seems stylish, but the gameplay wasn’t major. But I’m holding off final judgement until I can possibly play.

That’s a big reason I’m staying as well. The game is on some rocky ground as well as the forums, but it’s still my internet home.I like plenty of people here,so for me at least, don’t expect me to leave anytime soon.My search was pretty fruitless anyway.

Main game is still FFXIV so I’m not that hurt, however since I have characters on every server of Ktos I’m going to lose some characters most likely which will suck a bit, but I only log on to Ktos right now to test things so w/e.
