Looking for feedback on following class mixes

Greetings.

I’m looking for feedback from experienced players on following class mixes:

  1. Sword-Pelta-Barb3-Fencer2
  2. Sword-High-Barb3-Doppel2

Are those viable ATM? In PvP/PvE solo/PvE party? Can you call those combos “strong” or is it the opposite?

Thank you!

They are viable, basically anything is viable in general really.
But it depend on what you want toa chieve, if you want to DPS Swordman is not the best choice to begin with, if you want to tank then I guess the first one would be the best, because Fencer in skilled hands is probably the best tank in the game, although the hability of a PeltasteC2-3 for Swashbuckling has started to be more apreciated.

The defition of a ‘‘strong’’ swordsman is still fairly in the air.

No, for the love of god no.
Do not see this, this is terrible.

It’s not as bad as you’d think, although the rodelero bit is completely useless.

With full CON, you will have the most boring character in the game, but you can swashbuckle and tank the first 5 floors of earth tower with ease. Probably will be fine for the rest of the tower too. Definitely will be useless for nearly everything else.

For @sttr413, either works really.

I’m not super fond of barbarian these days, but if you want to do it, go for it.

If you want to do fencer, perhaps highlander c3 would be much more useful than barbarian. That bonus slash damage + skyliner + bleeding is extremely good for bossing. Doppel is better for grinding/dungeons.

Ok, so my intention was to simply use Doppel/Fencer skills under Frenzy and War Cry. Those buffs seemed quite powerful when I levelled barb (to ~120) on iCBT.

Fencer is more of a balanced version here with helluva dodge, shield switch, double provoke and stuff. While doppel is pure powah, even though I’m not sure if he’s going to survive… much. Looking more towards Fencer, but I’ve failed to find any decent guides on him in the net.

Now, the thing is, my guildmates consider both those builds really underpowered and want me to play Hoplite-Cataphract. I haven’t been paying enough attention to the game’s progress lately and I wanted to learn what brought that on. That said, my guildmates levelled 200+ on Korea and I have no problem with playing peco-rider, but I still want to explore available options before the game launches.

I understand Highlander was really buffed, but don’t know to what extent actually. I also understand Hoplite-Cataphract is considered a powerful build. Finally, I was told Fencer wouldn’t stand a chance in PvP against most classes. Am I correct?

Depends on what kind of Fencer build you have.
If you have Corsair c1 at rank 5, Iron Hook alone makes you a big threat in arena & GvG.
If you have Doppelsoldner c1 at rank 7 (so only get Fencer c1), your Cyclone and Deeds of Valor are great assets.

But if you are talking about Fencer alone, then Fencer needs support from other classes to make it a good build. For example, Fencer complements Highlander because Lunge provides bonus slash attack and most Highlander’s skills are slash attacks. At the moment, Fencer is more of a filler class.

Swordman is not the best choice to begin with
And what is the best choice or one of the best choice ?

@frould lol that shield charging is hilarious.

Well, I did mention DPS wise. Int hat case the best option is Archer with a good build and Wizard doesn’t stay all that behind depending on the build thanks to their AoE capabilities.

Hmmm ok ok :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok, so this is more or less clarified.

Another question then - if you were tasked with creating a purely-PvP/GvG build for Swordman class, which route would you go?
