Looking For Advice On Marketeering

As the title says, I’d really like to get into marketeering as my primary means of funding my characters. Problem is, it seems like most of the silver generation in ToS comes from players with specialized farming builds. I’ve always hated farming because it requires you to…well, farm.

Marketeering has always been my preferred way of making in-game currency because it’s fire and forget. You log in, spend a few minutes buying and posting bids, then you’re off to run content as normal. No time spent killing mobs and hoping for rare drops. No need for a specific build that you may or may not enjoy actually playing.

I understand the basic principle of marketeering in any game (Buy low, sell high) but I’m hoping to get some tips from anyone who actually does it in this game. Other than Primus gear and premium items, what’s profitable? Should I be looking to snatch up rare materials, recipes, or something else entirely?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide :grinning:

That will not fly on the market world of ToS unless you are a street seller and shout your merchandise…

On market low prices sell higher and sellers love to under cut each other…

the first person to put on market an item stets the price and the rest just follow it high/low range…

The most important part of marketing is the quality of what you sell and how rare and attractive to others you can make it

make it shine, be fair and you will get lot of buyers…

High volume items are probably not very easy to work with because of the narrow range of fluctuations compared to taxes. So things like blessed shards are probably not going to change enough in price for you to bring in a profit. The general player ‘knows’ the price too well to make a mistake and buy or sell at an unusual price.

You’d probably succeed in dealing with rarer things that people don’t properly understand the value of. In my constant talks with my guildies, I find that most of them undervalue identified equipment because the random stats are difficult to wrap their mind around. That type of item has a higher chance of being priced incorrectly, so you can capitalize off that.

I’d also suggest looking into future patches to try and predict how supply and demand will fluctuate. I made a lot of silver when they increased the drop rate of items from the 330 raid because the prices didn’t immediately match the increased supply. Granted, it still involves some work (planning and preparing to run the dungeon a lot the week of the drop rate increase), but I think it’s the sort of thinking you’d be interested in. It’s also useful to know these sort of things so you can make the decision to clear out your stock before prices crash, too.

TP item values fluctuate a lot, especially since they are not persistently available. Diamond anvils, golden anvils, portal scrolls… all of these things can go up and down with whether or not we have Letitia’s Cubes in the store. They also experience some long-term fluctuations as IMC decides to add or remove items from those cubes. It’s something else to watch out for.

There is no marketeering in tos. Boy, there even isn’t real and old field farming. Rich people is just those that have like 30 alts and salus all day long.

You do it the same way as in any other game. FIgure out what people are too lazy to farm, and sell that.

First, thanks for the detailed response.

That’s a very interesting idea. I’ve noticed that non-Primus identified gear with very solid stats tends to go for cheap seemingly because it doesn’t have an orange background. Sure, normal and Berthas gear doesn’t provide as much in terms of raw Physical/Magic Attack but those stat gains are still useful. I’ll have to watch the market for a few days and see if there’s an angle to be exploited.

Also a good point. I don’t think we’ll see any major adjustments before Rank 10 but I’ll definitely keep it in mind.

I’ve considered going this route but I’m not quite sure I want to invest too much real money just to make in-game currency. I’ll think on it.

Provided I can buy those items from the market instead of farming them myself, I’m game.
