If you look back from rank 15 or so and since we can’t reset skills,
what do you think a long lasting build looks like?
A build with Peltasta 1/2/3, Highlander 2/3, Hop 1/2/3, Cata 3, Corsair 1/2, Doppel 1, Dragoon in it.

Peltasta c1-3 will always be needed, for Swash Buckling, so if i had to pick just 1, that’d be it

if go deeper at tank builds, peltesta is the path. not sure about rodelero, sound a lot of complains still.
if go deeper at DPS builds, highlander c2 skyliner skill is very promising. the rest are just player preference.
mostly for templar builds, these builds are normally mixed with peltesta and squire 
So if I get peltasta 3, I can pretty much take any class afterwards and still be able to tank?
if u get peltasta c1 u can tank or off-tank with any other class, if u get it c3 its better go full tank, like full con. a lot of “full tanks” go peltasta c3 and squire c3. this way u wont be doing any dmg but u will find dungeon pt REALLY FAST so u can level in dungeons (and can make mony with squire too).
so if u want dps with a tank option get peltasta c1, if u want full tank get it c3 and some con
what if I go for squire c2 and corsair c1?
do i benefit from jolly roger bonus drop rate if my party kills stuff?
does only certain stuff drop from jolly roger?
how viable is grouping later on?
it works too as long you are happy with.
jolly roger’s drop rate increase with lvl, the same with your squire skills, if u do what u are saying, any pirate c2+ will be a better party leader and any squire c3 around u will get your clients (most of squires will be going c3)
so if u are going for squire, go c3.

how difficult will leveling be early on in case I go for full tank, full con build?

what are benefits from squire besides making money?
you won’t have any difficulty raising any character whatever tank/support/craft from lv1 to lv260. all the way got dungeon, mission, daily quests.

if u want FULL TANK, pelatsta 3, u wont be doing ANY decent dmg, so squire is a good option for higher ranks.
as i alredy said u can get only peltasta 1 and go play hop3 dragoon, id do that if i want dragoon.
for full tank u probably would go for high/full con, and most good hoplite/dragoon skills need str/dex for dmg thats why ur dmg will suck
