If that’s really the point of this thread, maybe you should say that in your opening post then? You should take a look at what you wrote:

It’s a F2P game, what do you expect? Having to pay extra for a character slot is baseline for these kinds of games. Yes, the pet taking one slot is weird design by you can understand why (not saying that I support this though).
Of all the possible P2W issues this game may have, I think this is way down the list.
Please stop spreading misinformation. Because you heard coup d’é·tat and you liked the fancy term doesn’t mean you can throw it freely around the web. We had elections just every 4 years. If you are not happy with the results wait for the next elections and cast your vote. We were nowhere next to a coup d’é·tat by miles.
Character slots are commonly sold in cash shops for both F2P and B2P games. It makes more sense to monetize a “luxury” than it does to monetize a function of the game. Luxuries are optional, like choosing to level up multiple characters, or what classes you decide to play.
By asking them to provide more character slots for free instead of paying for them, you are basically saying; “I think we should not pay for luxuries, and you should focus on earning your revenue from another source” - wherein lies the problem. There is already enough disdain for IMC in regards to the fact that we’re paying for Tokens designed to alleviate a lot of restrictions on just base game functions (such as trading, dungeon runs, buff counts, etc) - they don’t need to add more of that on top.
Further, the nice thing about an F2P game is that if you have made the decision to never pay the game company a dime, you can do so - but not at a cost to the game company. They should not be punished for your decision to not give them money for anything.
Yep… I know. That’s why I’ve become a cynic here who has zero faith in this game. I tried to talk against things that are really annoying / frustrating game design only to be told to stfu, called bad or to just ‘deal with it cuz it’s somehow justified’.
Why am I still on these forums? Who the hell knows but this game has some of the strangest game design elements I’ve ever seen and they are frustrating and annoying people but nothing can be done because of the White Knight Legions.
So far you’ve been called ‘entitled’, you’ve been told to ‘deal with it’, you’ve been told to just ‘buy more character slots’.
But the point is… pets and mounts take up a character slot. It’s annoying game design, that’s why people are talking about things like this with a dumbfounded expression like, “Seriously…?”
Oh well. Just gonna sit here reading the white knights justify poor game design in a game that’s losing player population, eat my popcorn, link my friends comments being made and have a blast.

pets/mounts take up a character slot in Mabinogi and no one complains about that…

hmmm. coming from Dnsea the free char slot is really small for free players. this game boasts alotnof char class and combinations. so i understand op why 4 char slots is small for him. i think 6 should have been enough for pets and chars.
op must be from dn too? if they add more classes to the current roster, giving away 1 free char slot would be nice. this is just my opinion. dont kill me please.
then again, who the fvck will torture himself/herself with 4,5,6 280 characters? xD no lifer? haha 
PS: how much is one char slot? was that 150? im not sure
Mabinogi is rly bad example for this… I also wanted to explain it but it would be a long off topic… Mabinogi has a different slot mechanic just end it like this. X) Also they are quite generous now there you can have lot of free chars and pets.
I actually don’t like either that pets take up a normal character slot. I think they should make a separate pet slot for them.
I think 4 character slots and 2-3 pet slots would be great and more than enough for free players. Ppl would buy extra pet slots too anyway because a lot of ppl would like to have a lot of different pets imo.

This is something I can support and it is a very good idea.
I played mabinogi in 2006-2009 and I had 10 pets and 6 characters. I know how “bad” it is.
This is another reason i was thinking it would be cool if hunters could tame mobs and sell them as pets to other players. This would allow for a purely cosmetic pet, that was character bound and did not attribute to team level. The pets would act more as untradable items once out of the hunters hand but would allow you to have pets without taking up a character slot. IMC could continue to sell regular pets that can act as mounts and companions (i know i’d still want that red panda x3) as well as selling special cosmetic pets that would not take up character slots. Imc wins, p2players win, f2players win, hunters win, everyone wins

4 character slots with 80 classes, different builds,play style etc(still half way through) and here we are struggling getting new ones because of the damn pet slot that is taking over.
This is the worst I’ve seen… meanwhile IMC is sh*tting their butts with TP sales while the game has tons of bugs, delays, bots and gold sellers.

Your house can stay inside 4 humans, and you want to buy a horse.
So some one must be kicked from your house: you, your mother, your father or your brother to keep your horse inside your house. If you don’t wanna kick anyone, you must pay for a place where your horse can live.
Lets do another one:
So you want to pay for a place for your house but you don’t have money.
You go to owner’s place and say: "Hey man, I don’t have money. I give you my ass for one week and you keep my horse there ok?"
Owner’s say: “Money only.”
