Alright I’m not sure if anyone noticed or even cares about this but we have this little big issue here.
Yes, lodge spaces are locked content behind payment.
Pets takes lodge spaces, so if you go Cata/Hunter/Falconer you’ll lose one character slot to your pet, JUST WHY?
Free players will never be able to access to more character slots?
Thats… normal for F2P games.
Btw, Pet contributes to team level as well: gives petLv^2 exp as normal characters do.
The exp from the companion increases team level so i think its fair that they count it as a character…
This game’s community is certainly one of the worst I’ve seen, always defending what is wrong or affects players negatively.
I’d much rather have to “buy character slots” than have to “pay to remove market restrictions”. I think we need to pick our battles and this one is rather par for the course in all MMO markets – character slots cost extra money.
Honest question here: Are you actually planning on going trough all the garbage from 1 - 280 on 4 characters? (or soon to be level 380 or whatever)
This post was flagged by the community and is temporarily hidden.
To enjoy different classes and builds?
Wasn’t that a feature IMC based the game in?
Or just make character slots be a consumable item able to be sold in the auction like token.
I’m not defending anything IMC here, it’s just a simple question.
omg u r the 1st person to notice this wow…
It’s hard to believe that you are actually complaining about additional character slots costing money. This is standard for every f2p game ever. It takes a lot of resources to maintain all the data for a character. Also, pets contribute to your team level.
Man, I really hate this “entitled free player” mentality. Just because a game is f2p doesn’t mean you should be entitled to get everything you want without paying. It costs a lot of money to run a f2p game. F2p games aren’t doing charity work here. They are using the most lucrative and profitable payment model known in the industry.
If you like a game you should be willing to pay for it. If you don’t like a game enough to pay for it and just complain all day about it, just quit already. You’ve made like a billion posts complaining about frivolous things and non-issues.
What a joke, these servers costs between 70 and 120 dollars a month each to maintain while IMC is buying luxury sportcars.
They could always make character slots a consumable that players can sell just like Tokens and they’d lose no money from that.
Yeah, because all servers getting a minimun of triple lag is frivolous and not an issue.
■■■■ off.
lol ok. That’s how much one half-decent dedicated server would cost. IMC is most likely using many AWS EC2 and RDS instances, which when run 24/7, will rack up significant costs. Especially considering IMC’s piss-poor scalability, they most likely are scaling vertically and need to dish out for the super high-spec AWS instances. (source: I’m a software/infrastructure engineer who works with AWS a lot)
This doesn’t even include the costs of paying the developers.
Whatever though. Just tighten the blindfold and continue on your merry way. Your posts are all bait as far as I’m concerned now.
I’d be amazed if the servers cost more than 50 bucks each considering that ping goes from 160ms to 300ms+ in less than an hour after a maintenance.
But whatever, no one is going to force you to stop bending on your knees.
Also, loved how you totally ignored the fact that making char lodges into a sellable cash item wouldn’t impact IMC’s gains and it might even boost them.
I think I was speculating earlier that each server (Klaipeda and Orsha) hosted by Amazon would cost IMC somewhere between $12000 and $20000 a month, based on an assumption that they’re using Amazon EC2 Dedicated Hosts, m3 configuration, with each of the 32 instances hosting a single channel.
You’re not helping your argument here with this extreme sarcasm.
k. Here’s some monthly costs of AWS EC2 servers with half decent specs (i.e. >8 GB memory):
http://www.ec2instances.info/?min_memory=8&min_computeunits=8&min_storage=100&cost=monthly
Note IMC is most likely using Windows instances cause their developers are terrible.
Edit: Here are some cheaper ones (>8 GB memory, with any amount of storage): http://www.ec2instances.info/?min_memory=8&cost=monthly
Keep ignoring it
Around 30-50k players accessed the early access, if all of them bought the cheapest pack it’d be around 300-500k dollars, but hell no, many people bought each one of their packs so they might have blasted through the one million dollars ammount and they keep getting dosh to this day.
Are you still saying we should deal with poor performance servers and lag?
There is something called “Event TP” in the game and no that is not that 5 free TP we get. You can see it in your character lodge in the up left corner.
I don’t know how much we will get with an event but I guess if you are dedicated enough with some time maybe we will have enough for char slots. But maybe I’m wrong…X)
Also I’m a bit more upset that for cash shop pets we will have to buy both the pet and a char slot for it…and for me the pet already seemed quite costly on korean server.
Steam takes a huge cut (>30%) of the revenue.
Anyway, we don’t know how much actually made since we don’t know the distribution of package sales. So it’s pointless to try to argue that IMC can do more to improve the game since they have money.
I ignored it because (1) you didn’t include it in your inflammatory opening post, (2) I don’t know enough about MMO economics to comment on what affect it would have. What do you want me to say about that idea?
But its already a thing: you can buy a different lodge for TP and they might add more in the future.
You keep arguing about non-issues.
People can’t sell bought TP for silver, so some players will never be able to access certain stuff.
