List of addons (need GMs approval)

After this ban wave, I would like to make a list of all addons and their description, so GMs could look through them and tell the community, which addons are OK and which are not.

  1. cwAPI: A core addon that allows use and ease of other addons/mods. Automatically loads other mods located in sub-directories in your \Addon\ directory. Also contains core code for /slash commands. If an addon or mod has /slash commands as a feature, this addon must be installed to function correctly.
    Includes:

  • cwMarket: Adds two new buttons to your Auction retrieve window. The first shows the number of items that already expired, and the total number of items you have selling. Clicking on it will retrieve all the expired ones. The second shows the amount of silver from your sales that is ready to retrieve, and the total amount of silver that is/will be yours in some time. Clicking on it retrieves all the silver that can be retrieved.

  • cwToLearn: When selecting the “Show only attributes that can be learned” on the ‘Learn Attributes’ window, this addon will hide the attributes that you already have at max level.

  • cwFarmed: Displays how much silver and XP is earned in chat window.

  • cwShakeness: disables the ‘shake’ the games used on certain skills. I read users having headaches and nauseas because of that, so I thought it would be nice being able to disable them while ICM doesn’t get us a solution. Type /skn for help.

  1. Addons by Excrulon. Include:

  • Experience viewer: Shows current exp, exp till next level, exp per killed monster, total number of monster to lvl up, estimated time

  • Enhanced monster frames. Monster frames with their lvl, element, armor type

  • Monster kill tracker for journal. Shows a small pop-up icon that shows amount of monster killed. Really handy to track the amount of a given monster to kill for exp card from wings of vibora girl.

  • Guildmates. Displays character level and character name in a tooltip. Adds party request and friend request to the context menu.

  1. Cabinet Commas. Format the silver values for the item listings in the market “sell” and “retrieve” tabs with thousands separators (commas) for readability. 100,000 instead of 100000.

  2. Colored Item Names. Colorizes item names everywhere based on the item’s grade/rarity (not stars). Also colors any set pieces green and colors any recipes by their crafted item’s rarity instead of their own rarity.

  3. Fix Font Size Slider. Fix the font size slider in the chat options to dynamically update the font size in the chat frame. Meaning, when you are adjusting the font size of your chat it changes it as you move the slider, as opposed to having to apply the font size changes, then seeing how big/small the text is.

  4. Now Playing. Add text above the chat window to show the currently playing BGM. You can optionally enable this all of the time, enable it as a notification for a set duration once the BGM changes, or disable it altogether. See the top of the file to change these settings. The default setting is notification style with a 15 second duration.

  5. Remove FPS Counter. Removes the FPS counter that is always displayed on the screen. Currently there is no way to bring it back, so to bring the FPS counter back, be sure to remove the addon from your addon directory.

  6. Remove Pet Info. Hide pet names and/or HP bars. Addon options are at the top of the LUA.

  7. LKChat. Chat bot/gold seller detection, blocking, and auto-reporting perfect for ignoring and reporting those pesky gold sellers. Also tons of chat customization options, hide FPS meter, auto-hide chat input. Dev hooks for slash commands.

  8. Tooltip Helper. Simple tooltip helper to indicate which items are: Part of a collection, Shows which you have already completed, Components for a recipe. Shows registered status – since some recipes need to be manually registered before being able to craft, as well as others which should automatically be registered when you obtain them, when in fact they aren’t). Shows crafted status, Show item level for equipment – helpful info for item awakening/feeding equipment to gems.

  9. Enhanced Collection. Displays the collections as a list: no more cropped names. Can optionally display unknown collections. Displays the number of items in a collection, including how many can be added from the inventory. Ability to filter complete, incomplete or unknown collections. Can sort collections by game order, name, or status (collections with missing items present in the inventory are listed first). Quickly find a collection by name using the search box. Clearly displays which items are inside the collection or can be added from the inventory.

  10. Extended UI. ExtendedUI allows you to move most UI elements on your screen to wherever you want them.

  11. Increase FPS. Completely removes all effects created by the game and the UI for now. But increases FPS substantially for a much smoother gameplay. There was talk of the UI being enabled with no effects. As of now its just all or nothing.

  12. Minimap Fog Overlay. Displays un-revealed areas of the map required for map completion, much like the Excrulon addon, but this shows up on the mini map. Shows map name and percentage revealed above the mini-map.

  13. Remove Map Background. Removes the dark black background when in full area map. Better for showing what exactly is going on while walking and viewing map.

  14. Toggle Duels. Allows you to toggle whether or not you will receive duel requests.

  15. Better Quest. This mod adds a checkbox to the quest UI that will force all eligible quests to be shown. This will not show quests that are deliberately flagged as hidden.

P.S: Those are all addons I have found so far. If you know other addons, post in this thread with its description, I will edit the first post.

We have no plans on restricting add-ons that conveniently display
information which can be obtained from external communities or between
users.

However, we are sternly against add-ons that allow abnormal gameplay
such as being able to use NPC stores on a field or an auto-play program.
Those are prohibited and its user is liable to be banned.

That’s basically the only reply they are going to give you here. Yeah. IMC seems to be skirting around the issue unwilling to give an official statement.

So it’s kinda shitty to be honest.

It’s too generic. We need a ‘safe to use’ list.

To allow an addon IMC would have to go through it’s code to check what’s it really doing.

It’s easy to say “hey my addon only does this and that”. But in reality it can be doing something else malicious…

They refrain from giving an exact list because they’re not really going to check the code on them one by one. It’s easier to say “if it exploits gameplay, it’s not allowed”.

If they’re really only doing the things the author stated, and those things are non harmful to gameplay (according to common sense), then they are allowed.

That’s probably the reason IMC won’t give a clear statement and you have to take in the addon author’s word, using it at your own risk.

So this basically means:

Not allowed

  1. no bot programs of any kind
  2. no access npc’s like markets from places that you normal can’t access them from which gives you a huge advantage over others by scouting prices way more easier.

This doesn’t mean:

Allowed

  1. exp viewers
  2. map viewers
  3. kill count viewers.
  4. silver viewers

Or any other kind of visual information that gets projected.

So it’s safe to say:

people that get banned either used:

  1. market mod
  2. bot programs.
  3. screwed valve over with charge backs or this company and get banned.

The end.

Don’t want to get destroyed, from now on record all your gameplay so you have proof of not cheating.

It’s true. I mean these add-ons are said to do one thing but most people aren’t going to have the technical skills or even the time (I really don’t want to go and investigate and break down each add-on before I use them) to go make sure the add-ons are ONLY doing what they say they’re doing.

So using add-ons is simply a risk we are taking since IMC won’t ‘officially’ support any of them.

However, add-ons have become an essential tool to a vast majority of the players at this point and it could have serious ramifications on the success of this game if an add-on was released that did certain against-the-rules things in the background that people didn’t know about. And it lead to a major ban of a lot of players who were unaware that they were even doing anything wrong.

We all know the risks, it’s true, but there are too many people using these add-ons at this point to use that as an excuse. IMC should just disallow all add-ons if they are unable to manually approve them.

You said it yourself:

IMC doesn’t want to prohibit all addons because they know players are using them a lot. There would be a lot of complaint if they did.

But they can’t also go through them all manually because of the efforts it would take.

They can probably inform us some that are NOT allowed, but not the ones that ARE allowed.

Maybe in the future they can dedicate a staff to provide addon support (and judge them), but what’s in the future is in the future.

So right now the community has become dependent on add-ons that may or may not get them banned.

Well I guess I’m alone in seeing why this is a problem so I’m not going to spend my time writing a debate for it.

I’m not denying your point. I also think many of the features some addons provide should already exist in game by default (like the collections manager).

I’m just saying IMC probably doesn’t have enough man power to support both the game in it’s current state and addons provided by others.

I may as well make a confession. I use 4 of Excrulon’s add-ons. His EXP Viewer is very convenient because sometimes those little yellow and green bars disappear and seeing numbers motivate me more. The Card Calculator (although I heard it was sometimes inaccurate) also helped. Monster Tracker too. I think the Add-on Manager counts as an add-on of its own. While I have not been banned, it causes me anxiety due to the gray area that exists, and I do not want to take anymore chances.

@FlanFlan Have you used any of the add-ons? You seem to be more knowledgeable about this stuff.

There is no mmorpgs I know that have done that because addons can be numerous and worse changed. No dev can control what the community produce and I don’t want IMC to put money to hire specialy someone who will analyze the code of each addons.

Because that’s what you guys don’t undersand. CwxAnywhere was spotted because the addon dev made a mistake to give a description of the addon and not because someone has gone analysing its code.

I understand that you’re worried but you should not fall into paranoïa.

Edit: I recommand to no use any addon name “Cw” for now to be safe.

I haven’t looked at the source code for the game so to be honest, I can’t really understand everything these LUA scripts are doing for these add-ons. I could find out how to get at the source code and I could understand it if I was looking at it but…

Although I have been tempted to make an add-on for this game but after I watched the community take a crap all over the current add-on devs, I’m not going to be making add-ons for this game.

And getting at the source code, researching it and applying it to lua scripts would take a long time, right now I’m working on programming a project that I use my time on when I’m not playing ToS. So shrug

literally, they can alter the client using add-ons, so why bother exclude some?

just take em all out.
