Is getting one circle in linker pointless?
Linker 1 is the most useful C1 out of wizard tree, you get tons of utlity to improve your other wizard skills. Pyro, Cryo, soc, warlock i think all wiz classes benefit from linker.

Yes you can leave it C1. Just try to get dandle gem if possible for additional JP.
Linker C2 is much better than C1 if you rely totally on linker to deal AOE and lacks consistent dps. You can leave it C1 if you get sorc. Otherwise, you should go C2.
