Bug Description : All link spells, which include: “Joint Penalty”, “Physical Link” and “Spiritual Link”, have an issue where they don’t chain properly on the initial cast if multiple players/enemies are gathered on a dip in the ground/slope/stairway/. For example, casting rank 14 Joint Penalty on 8 or so mobs that are on a slope will sometimes only link 2-3 enemies and sometimes only majority of them (but rarely all of them), even if they are all in range of the initially linked enemy. However, If Join Penalty is casted on a enemy at the top or bottom of the slope, the rest of the enemies tend to all get linked. This same issue occurs with the other support links, such as Spiritual Chain.
Physical Link And Spiritual Chain will also break very easily when players are going up slopes together, or if someone steps down into a dip in the floor.
It seems to be an issue with the Z axis that causes the distance to be calculated as further than it really is, causing the chain to break after thinking it has reached past the max distance. This theory could apply to both issues.
Steps to reproduce the issue :
The absolute best way to test this is to have a c3 Linker run the level 190 dungeon (Archmage Tower) all the way through while trying to link mobs on slopes and trying to keep Spiritual Chain up at all times.
Joint Penalty Test:
- Gather 8 mobs onto a slope/stair
- Cast rank 10+ “Joint Penalty” on an enemy standing in the middle of a slope
- Watch as only a few get chained
Spiritual Chain Test:
- Link everyone with Spiritual Chain (Or Physical Link)
- Have the party run reasonably close together
- Try going up slopes and dips in the floor
- Watch as Spiritual Chain breaks, despite clearly not going out of max range
I’ll make a video tomorrow when I run Archmage Tower again.
EDIT: As a Linker, this is a game breaking bug. It makes me as a C3 Linker terrible in comparison to other classes since my Umbilical Cord skill almost always breaks within 10 seconds of use in instances with slopes in them.
