[Leveling Tips for New Players] NO GRIND until 230+

Hi new players and those pushing towards max level. Several weeks ago I was searching for tips on leveling. Unfortunately, a lot of the tips are outdated or kTOS exclusives. I am currently at the end stages of leveling which requires grind (lv 252), but I still have a good chunk of exp cards left.

I am making this post b/c I am seeing a lot of newer players stuck grinding bee farm or demon prison, which can be painful. So here are some tips that I have learned which helped me get from lv 1 to 230 with little to no grind.

  1. EXP cards > Everything else in terms of exp per hr. Finish kill counts and 100% all maps. There are tools that help with this and I HIGHLY suggest that you look into it. Those extra exp cards from Wings of Vibora rally adds up. If you are stuck grinding bees, I suggest looking at your map to see which maps you have not finish kill counts for or 100%, and do those instead.

  2. Complete ALL quests. Again there are tools to help you with that. ToS has alot of hidden quests. Even as careful as I was, I managed ti miss a goo d 40% of them.

  3. Find a party. This makes kill counts MUCH MUCH easier, and questing faster. Try using shourt to find some friends.

  4. Do your daily mission and dungs.

  5. Save up silver to buy a token. It may seem expire now, but it is one of the best investment you can make in ToS. The additional exp from monsters, extra missions and dun runs, and the 10 slot AH really helps out in every aspect of the game.

GL! and feel free to msg me if you need any help. I am on NA Kep

Do you mean guides,or an in-game tool like an add-on? I’m just curious.

more like the better quest add-on

i use that to finish every quest available from lowest to my current level.

finished all quest from 1 - 95 and im lv 110 with about 7m worth of exp when i use all exp card

sounds like you are on the right track, good job!

What’s the “kill counts”?

He’s referring to your adventure journal. Every monster you encounter has it’s place in this journal. Within each monsters entry, you will find bits of information, one of those bits of information is how many times you have killed said monster. Each monster can be killed a certain amount of times (as displayed in the adventure journal) to gain the achievement of that monster, which is usually an EXP card in the range of the map from whence the monster hails.

An example you would see would be :

Hanaming 0/250, this means you need to kill 250 to get the achievement. Fairly straight forward. You can further assist yourself by downloading monster kill tracking addons that automatically notify you of your adventure journal’s progression as you slay monsters.

Thank you for the info. I didn’t think it was really effective because it’s just one card or am I wrong?

All good tips, though I prefer to speed level because I can only play a few hours a day and not always everyday. I’m planning to complete those later on even if the provided exp cards would become insignificant for my level.

For those interested to know how:

I always refer to this map guide for the sequence of doing quests from both Klai and Orsha: http://i.imgur.com/4AXgpAA.jpg

I just try to 100% the maps I’m questing on, pick up side quests when I find them, but not really minding the kill counts as most of those require ridiculous amount of kills per monster (and some monsters have terrible spawn rates - and then there are other players and bots competing with you as well).

Supplement this with full dungeon runs (except 160 and 200 dungeons) whenever you’re in the level range of getting decent exp (my preference is if at least I get 33% exp or more per run, about 1 level in 3 full runs w/ token) as well as missions when you’re able to.

If you’ve done all quests possible in your level range (may differ per class as some can do well in maps a little beyond their level), compute the exp you’ll get from your current cards (google for “tree of savior exp card calculator”) and see if you have enough to get to the next viable dungeon level.

If so, then eat them - not all, just to the point where you reach that next dungeon level.

If you don’t have enough (very unlikely up to 160-ish, unless you’ve been skipping quests or not 100%-ing a lot of maps), and if current doable dungeon exp is getting too low, join popular dungeon rushes doable in your current level, if you’re hunting for a specific gear (e.g. 90 for arde dagger, etc.) while still capping your daily missions (this will be your main source of exp for the time being).

Again, this is for those like me who can only play 3 hours or less a day, and not even everyday.

Kill counts are basically mini grinds on each map. Its easily possible you have to grind 1000 monsters in a map to finish all of them.

But to be honest at 130+ it’s a absolute must to do, in order to not get stuck on shitty bee grind fest that doens’t yield any exp. Because there are really low amounts of maps from 130>175.

Slightly confused.

I downloaded it to see how well it works,it told me I had some quests in Overlong Bridge Valley that I skipped so I went to finish those for sake of completion, but then when I finished those I had no more on my screen despite knowing I had some others in Akmen’s Ridge. So I picked those up like normal but they still didn’t add to the list before. Why is that?

Addon is kinda wonky, also kill counts are sometimes not shown then you have to change channel and they do. You got to love and hate it.

Any known solution? The only other add-on I have enabled is the map viewer.

Edit: Just picked up more in Tiltas Valley. It seems to be missing quite a few…

No clue i never use it, i purely use it for the map exploration + kill counts, best part about it.

nah, you don’t need to do all quests, it’s a waste of time, i’m following a guide on steam ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=666852782 ) lv110 right now and got here in 10+ hours, i’ts not beginner friendly but doing all quests is just a completionist game that not everyone like

You can get by without focusing on monster kill counts to get past the prison/bee grind, I’ve done it twice :o

It is one card plus all the exp you get from killing the monsters. It is not worth it in the beginning, but will denefitely help when you reach lv 80ish

sometimes it bugs

if you want something that is clean you might need to download the add-on manager here

search there and download the manager
after opening find your ToS folder and select folder then go to the next tab and see the list of add-ons that is available

this is just to make sure that you dont get anything wrong because sometimes you miss a file or pasted an old one

before you do those please delete every addon that is in your folder including the sum api and the unicode files or simply revert it back to the original ToS folder

that is what im using atm and it updates when there is one. it doesnt have everything but the dev who made that is updating everything

There is many unknown stuff about kill count. Like in Orsha one of the first monster give a lvl 8 exp card. Obviously low level character can’t use it

yeah got that kind of monster where it provided 1 lv 5 exp card while im still on lv 3 exp card quest.

i think those are recycled mobs same mob but different level and i think it gives exp card based on the highest one on those mobs

One card adds up when theres 3-5 different monsters per map, you also get 3 cards for getting 100% explored on the map. Jump into a party if you can on any map, just so you can clock their kills too, getting 200 spion archers alone might be difficult for many, but in a party you’ll whiz by it and not know it.
