Let's speculate about zealot?

what do you guys think it will be? for the color of the announcement it looks like defense/cc oriented…

By all the scrolls on the costume I think maybe something like Taoists Talismans? Or something like Fletchers arrows that you need to craft so you can use your skills?

Given that the base of the Class, the historic Zealots, were more aggressive and brute and some of them were even assassins that always carried a dagger/short sword with them to kill the Roman occupators and then blend into the masses to vanish without a trait, I guess we get another physical attack orientated Ceric that is focused on Daggers/Swords and physical combat.

I really hope that this Class becomes the closest to assassin that is ever introduced to TOS so assassin finally becomes a true Cleric Class (that it always was since professional assassination was only practiced by religious organizations until the modern times) instead of Swordsman/Archer/Thief where it doesn’t belong historically and technically.

Damn the other MMORPGs that removed assassin from Clerics just because they didn’t know better or were biased against the clergy.

can zealot be a mounted clergy? there was that rumor a few weeks back about cleric gaining a mounted class; and since we take by Report’s post; it could focus more on the brute side of things and not assassination, and thus be mounted clergy; at least i hope so.

But what about the Shepherds class? That’s seems like a name meant to be a mounted class? Cleric on Llama/Alpaca anyone?
:haha:

and this is why i made the question; i came back just for that class; since my memegon is dead for now; where i do believe that shepherd seems more fit for a mounted cleric; i want to play a mounted now; so this is why i’m asking here if they can make the zealot of it ^^; if at least there is enough background for that.

There is no reason why Zealots should be a mounted Class. The Zealot is the symbol of the oppressed Jewish community during the Roman occupation of Palaestine and a man of Propaganda, violence and assassination.

There’s no way to make this one a mounted Class. Mounted should be Crusader while Sheperd will most likely become the companion Class (i.e. with a dog) of the Cleric tree.

This was a fault rumor base on fault google translate.

If they’re going for a historically correct approach, it could have a few skill kits.
An assassin - which I like the idea, but then Inquisitor fills a melee damage role…

A counter/rival to Murmillo - Zealots fought against Romans, and Murmillo is a roman gladiator. Maybe it would have skills to counter Mememillo’s, or maybe even be a m.def tank to rival Murm’s p.def.

Yeah but first of all, Inquisitor is still mace-based, and there is no reason for him to ever wield a dagger when without a Thaumaturge in party.
To add to this, there is no Cleric Class that has any skills that use daggers actively, which might end with Zealot[because it is historically accurate].

Last but not least, there is another hint that Zealot will become an assassin-like character:
Sicarius.
While the naming of the dungeon could be a mere coincidence, I don’t think so. Sicarius was the Roman designation for a Zealot(plural Sicarii) that focused on assassination with a dagger/ short sword hidden beneath their clothes. If one of the different job quests leads us there, it will be the ultimate proof for the theory to be true.

It’s possible that there will be a mounted class since there are already mount-restrictions on some Cleric tree skills for some reason.

i remember reading about it being a error on translation, but later on someone posted a image of a lhama with a few more information about the dev’s where they said they where working on mounted classes for wizard and cleric as well, i do not have the link for the entire conversation , but i saved the lhama image, i will put it below.

if is true or not? i do not know, but it was enough to make me come back, and built a cleric with mounted classes and skills that can be used mounted and hype about it…
and just like our friend zerofoxgiven said; there is restriction on mounted skills for cleric and wizard, this could indicate as well that they are thinking about it in some way because they would not code it, if there was nor plan to use it.

it doesn’t look anything like an assassin…
if those scrolls were knives and daggers instead, maybe…

the inquisitor on the other hand, with its spiky plate shoulders and shackles screams of glorious brutal tyranny…

yeah, i reaaly want to believe that it is a physical class, actually, MY personal wish is for a battle-mage esque to fit my chap/krivis build ( or chapladin if daino remains scollable after the krivis changes) but those scrolls on the outfit says otherwise =…

those cllothes screem to me mage-ish cleric …i hope i’m wrong.

by these clothes i doubt it will be mounted tough, as those robes doesn’t seem fit for riding at all.

but we’ve got to take in consideration that the scrolls are only present on the “upgraded” costume, the base have none of that. Maybe said scrolls are there for “flair” alone… like those wings ( i doubt it will be a flying class xD)

if we take only the first costume into account i can get the "assassin " feeling.

tough, as i said on the first post, it is a blue class, so my bet is on a cc/defense oriented mage-ish cleric.

Yeah, but the Inquisitor doesn’t look like a typical Inquisitor either xD

It’s questionable what these 6 scrolls are; maybe they are the 6 books of the prophets:
1.Josua
2.Judges
3.Samuel&Kings
4.Iesaiah
5.Jeremiah
6.Ezekiel

There are also 12 minor prophets in another book;

The only other possibility would be the 6 orders of the Mischna (i.e. the “Oral Torah”), which are a work of the anti-zealot rabbinistic Judaism that created the religious order nowadays (i.e. with the Synagogues instead of the temple as the central sactuary and new ritual practices to replace the ones that became impossible with the loss of the temple 70 A.D.), but this would be the polar opposite and un-zealot,right?

If you are speaking of the Bible, in fact the Books of Joshua, Judges, Kings and Chronicles are historical books, although they refer to prophets as they have as their main focus the history of the Israelite people.
The books of the prophets are:

  • The largest are 4: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Daniel.
  • The minors are 13, but I do not remember all of them.

As for the friend who wrote up there that there is no killer in this game, the Rouge is the killer class, along with Scout he becomes invisible and attacks with a deadly attack(Backstab). However, both players complaim they nerf the skill and nowadays it is no longer a deadly attack.

Nope, Pardoner is the killer Class, his Decatose has 10-20% chance to kill a monster instantly and 2 overheat charges. Cleric is the only Class tree that can directly kill monsters even without STR/INT/weapon, be it Oracles Death Sentence (or post patch Death Sentence + Twist of Fate combo) or Pardoners Decatose.

All other Class Trees can’t induce death by skill, only Musketeer has the ability to land a deadly attack on small sized monsters at 1% chance via attribute Rifle Mastery:Hunting.

also pallys turn undead xD
