Ledas Shield vs Otrava Shield for INT-based Wizard spec

Hello guys I’d like to know your opinion on this topic, premising that it’s not for a Cons based Wizard, so anti-synergy with Animus is not a factor.

Obviously Otrava offers a bit more armor and damage at the expense of some HP regen (I don’t think Ledas’ Lightining Resistance decrease is much of an issue overall); I’m not sure if in a team with a healer HP regen would ever be a factor…

Overall which one do you think it’s better? I know the difference is quite marginal but I would still appreciate any contribution.

otrava and ledas isn’t really needed pass 280

If you would want a choice Otrava. Because 280-330 majority are afraid of poison

And who the heck told you I’m past 280? I’m 179, I’m new to the game.

Anyway thank you for pointing that out, the different property attack they offer is surely a factor as well. Is Poison really better than Ice overall?

No one told me you are, neither did you stage what level you are.

I am telling you base on what choice you should go for in reality. if you like it then good if you don’t then too bad.

Yes poison is better for GENERALLY 99% of the new content right now.

Also there’s venom, and arde dagger. If you are ok with that you literally use that till the end of the game.

TL;DR ur sub weapon doesn’t matter jack shiet until 280 + where you realize defensive shields are actually better at total end late.

Ok my bad I should have articulated my question better I guess.

So to put it a simple way:I have a +5 Ledas with a roasted Lev 5 blue gem in it since lev 120 and I’m doing fine with it, so I’m wondering if it’s worth crafting Otrava given that I’ve bought the recipe for a dirty cheap amount of money and the ingredients are very easy and fast to farm (this also implies the investment of another Blue gem and the enchantment cost, but that’s not an issue).

I Also have the Venom recipe and all the ingredients besides 20 more Geppetto Leaves, which I guess I can spend some hours farming, why not?, it’s just about 2k kills overall. Still I’ve heard a lot of mobs wear plate in high level content so I don’t think for my spec Venom is the best choice.

Having to choose if crafting Otrava or not for a Wizard basically my question at this point is: is it a decent long term investment spending a blue gem on it even if I already have Ledas? How long I can expect to use it before it becomes obsolete? 50 more levels? 100? Thank you in advance

you can use ledas till 280 it isn’t a issue. Same goes to Otrava and venom. they are usable in situation like WB etc. Who is afraid of magic.

Grab a didel tower shield if you want later. it is technically the best defensive shield attainable now without spending prac (20-40m mat for 315 equips)

Venom/Otrava will be more useful at 280 - 330 but that’s only that little damage it provides (since poison + 50%, the plate off set doesn’t matter venom is more useful for the con)

You will have huge issue as a wizard pass 280 because 290 stages onwards require you to bank more than 2.2k magic attack. If you have less prep or funds. Good luck the 1 damage on tons of mobs will be real pass 280 since mob magic defenses at times go pass 2.2k

Fair enough so I should definitely keep Otrava as well, correct?

Sorry didn’t understand this part, I mean I got the Cons positive side part but not the +50% on poison one. Can you explain that?

Generally 90% of the mobs pass 280 are earth type thus + 50% on poison damage.

Also + 50% damage to ghost type. These are the armor that take bonus damage from magic.

Ah ok I didn’t get the earth type thing, that makes perfect sense.

So overall I should totally craft Otrava and invest a blue on it even though I have Ledas (and keep Ledas as well just in case, as replacement weapon-swap for when I rest to rec HP while soloing content), correct?

Yes.

But the rec later won’t be much of issue since there’s level 15 hp pots just chuck it up.

Unless potions are expensive on your server lol. Any way for later do consider didel it’s really efficient though it doesn’t give you additional damage.

It give you a truck load of defensive stats ( +Con + mdef + def + block). < will be extremely useful at TSC etc ( blocking retarding spiral arrows that hit you at 3k each hit 5 hits)

Yeah, I’m not close to lev 220 requirement for Didel yet but it really offers a bulwark of defensive stats, I would totally buy it or the recipe if I don’t manage to drop it by that time. Does it drop from lev 190 or 200 dungeon?: people say different stuff on tosbase and forums about where it drops…
And how long is it gonna be a good shield? Until lev 300? This is really my last question I promise; I really appreciate you spending time explaining me this stuff.

it does drop at 190 and 200 both.

Didel shield lasts till you get emengard(315 orange that is not release yet in ITOS)

both lv 190 and 200 dropt the recipe, but lv 190 give twice the chance. is 1.5m for didel tower recipe overpriced?

Ok so be it, imma get Otrave for when I solo-farm and Didel Towel for anything else and dump some big big gem into it. Thank you for all the info!

Hey if you or anyone else is still here, how high level blue gems should I invest into Didel Tower Shield considering that Ermahgerd Shield is coming soon? 2 lev 5 ones? Lev 6 maybe? I doubt anything higher than lev 7 is a sound investment.

As for how much to play Didel Tower I wouldn’t mind at all 1.5 million but right now no one is selling it on Fedimian server.

i’d go for lv 6 blue gems, for me leveling gem is hard and not enjoyable from lv 6 onward.

just watch for it daily. It is around that price due to the influx. On my server it drops as low as 1m (Recipe) crafted 2m.

level 6 will do

I have all ledas, otrava and didel tower shield. My opinion is you should switch to didel for more def after level 240, ~100 element attack is not really much compared to magic def, con is more important. Saalus boss hit me 6k damage per hit even when i have equipped didel.
And you won’t feel the difference between ledas and otrava, its just ~20 difference in damage.

Perfect, I already have a bunch of lev 6 roasted blues, I’m good at making gems, I’m glad I don’t have to go for lev 7 ones though, it looked a bit too much of an investment for something that is not gonna be top tier with the incoming new shield.
Thank you for the reply I will surely monitor the market and buy it unless I drop it myself first.

Edit: suddenly two recipes at 2.4M and 2.5M. I think I will wait some more since I’m not lev 220 and able to equip it anyway right now, I will monitor the price to establish what’s a fair price in my server economy. Thank you for all your replies guys.
