Lancer's performance in PVP

Over the last few weeks doing extensive TBL I’ve come to notice that despite IMC’s efforts to build the Lancer class as a PVP specialist class, they actually do not perform that well in TBL. Looking through the ranking boards, out of the geared players, Dragoons actually rank consistently higher on average than Lancers. There is one big reason for this:

Range

Lancer’s skills have smaller range and this forces them to get closer to their enemies in order to hit them. However, with the current state of PVP, TBL is overflowing with cryos, chromos and kinos casting raise, magnetic force, ice wall etc. making this very dangerous. In contrast, despite the damage nerf of Dragoons, they can still deal significant damage across the screen with Dethrone and make finishing blows with Gae Bulg. This, of course, is only if both classes are significantly geared (around +11 orange 315 weap with stage 5+ trans)

In order for Lancer to be able to get closer, they should at least give Joust 2 overheats and lower its cooldown. The damage range of Lancer’s skills need to be significantly increased too - if the skills don’t reach the enemy, doesn’t matter how strong they are, it’s useless. It’s kind of a joke how IMC hasn’t really fixed Lancers after all this time. Maybe rank 9 has something in store for them.

Well maybe the new synergy with cata’s rush will help lancer.

Funny though I don’t see either dragoon or lancer doing well on Orsha/Klaipedia. In fact I’ve always seen lancer ranking higher…but it doesn’t really matter, they’re both not doing so well.

xD they just need to balance PvP in general. New synergy on cata’s Rush won’t do much PvP wise. There’s a lot they’ll need to change before we have a more balanced PvP. Buffing Lancer or other swordsmen won’t solve the biggest problems.

If Tree of Savior wants to see some huge changes in PvP balance and rankings really quickly, let them change/rebalance Missile Hole, Ausrine, Raise, Magnetic Force, Safety Zone, Heal, Revive, Revenged Sevenfold, Levitate, Subzero Shield, Hook. Do that with the changes they spoke about already like diminishing returns on CC and the damage decrease.

How about waiting for the rest of Lancers skills? We talking about a C1 class atm

Unless you think they’ll make Lancer completely OP like invulnerable buffs + huge damage and range increases in later ranks, nothing much will change for them if the current skills of the “top PvP builds” remain as they are now.

My son, Lancer is amazing because you get all the damage you need with a single rank on top of a nasty silence on clerics/wizards and magic field removal.

Just make a good build. Take Corsair c1 (hook, flag, DD), Cata c1 (block penetration attribute, earth wave, steed charge to combo with hook+joust, trot), Rodelero 2 (slithering, shield charge, C guard, etc ), Hoplite 2 (finestra, spear lunge, block block block)/Pelt 1/2 (C guard, high guard for block block block block, guardian for def + evasion), sword 3 still good, high con and etc

If you play lancer only as a retard cata 3 rushbot that suicides on r7 buffed pets every time, the class will surely perform bad, lol. Not saying that cata 3 is not effective, but well, majority of cata 3 players plays like bots

Subzero shield and kinos are still a huge problem, but that’s for everyone

IMC ■■■■■■ up things when they forgot to rework Crush Quintain combo like they did to all other skill mods.
(everything was nerfed to around 50% or so, like serpentine, cleave, high kick and etc), if anything, Lancer deserves a nerf on this combo, you can’t give too much pvp damage for a circle 1 class just because it’s a rank 8, while others have to go two or even three circles (r/6/r7/r8) to do similar damage, same ■■■■ for Inquisitor.

This looks familiar. A class with excellent damage, ability to remove magic circles including raise, and mobility is bad in pvp because ‘muh rankings’

Lancer is fine in pvp l2p.

Lancer’s range is good but narrow. Kinos and chronos can still be dealt with, geared cryos on the other hand can be challenging. I lose quite a few matches just by dying from sub zero reflect, and if not frozen then cc locked to death afterwards. The damn shield have a 100% uptime, and needs a prophecy or bloodleting to deal with. Problem is true to all swordsmans but more felt by lancers due to lack of missile protection (murmillos), ranged capabilities(dragoons), and non-shield class.

Imo, joust by itself is fine, the debuff is lvl 2 which goes through prophecy which is nice, the range is good but the hitbox is mediocre which is true to all lancer skills. Meanwhile, since my last test crush’s break gear attribute on the doesn’t seem to work. It would be nice if they can fix it or maybe add knockdown effect to crush instead, really dont mind nerfing the damage of it because it’s quaintain that really matters anyway.

Initiate makes it easy for us to deal with block builds, I might actually go full CON when I get the reset since I have enough block penetration thanks to cataphract, initiate, and solmiki set.

It just happens that current meta is unfavorable to us, Lancer class is good.

This. This is someone who’s played lancer extensively in TBL and knows what’s up with the class.
Geared Murmillos at least can take punishment and can block.
Geared Dragoons have range and can damage from safety.
Geared Lancers have neither, so if they are caught by cc it’s pretty much over.

If this cc meta isn’t going to be fixed in the PVP revamp, then an extra overheat in Joust will really help Lancers in TBL

maybe you should not have everything or else you gonna end up with those cancerous build?

Most balance issues in the game would be solved by allowing pre-made teams in TBL. The fact that it is random means it is possible you would not be teamed up with an oracle or PD to deal with Sub Zero Shield.

Any lancer who wants in a pre-made group would opt for one of those classes, so they could burst down a cryo while under the effects of those buffs.

CC meta will be fixed somewhat with diminishing returns on freeze and stun.
