KToS General Thread v5.0

Thx for reminding us that when it comes to game future, it’s all about what KR players want, not us, maybe not even a nibble, so if they want my favorite class to be nerfed to oblivion or just to be ignored then so be it.

Talk about alchemists, alchemist always been the worse yellow in battlefield on par with squire. They never been as reliable as pardoner. And given how IMC works with their thing, Imc won’t buff squire or alch instead nerf pardoner even more so they equally as bad in battlefield.

That honestly sounds more like laziness to me, because IMC has never really in any shape or form expanded on their crafting skills, or the crafting system in the game in general.

Having dedicated crafting classes is an outdated concept in the MMORPG sphere. I’ll always be a proponent to let every class in the game craft, because it’s something people enjoy and it has the potential to become a core game feature like in so many other MMORPG’s.

Some time ago I had an Alchemist (switched to DPS afterwards to complete the ep12 quests and been neglected since then) and made a ton of HP/SP potions for my team. I still have many of these, but today when I look at them in my storage and see that the HP potions restore 10k HP, which is not even a single monster skill worth of damage, and that the elixirs still require BGs to make I don’t think there is a single reason to dedicate a character slot for this class… If they don’t rebalance the damage skills, at least they should bring the potion crafting up to date with latest episodes. For example: change potions to 20% elixirs and make the art craft those 35% HP/SP ones that are available through the reputation NPCs.

indeed.
if i recalled tos crafting dead right after era of skiaclipse unique, an era where trolliavelis reign begin, and players no longer sit to craft their own stuff by collecting recipes and mats from fields, WHICH IS FUN. i assumed they tryna kill field botter who collect mats(?) but they end up kill crafting in the process, just like many other imc great decisions

as for alchemist crafting has been dead probably even before rebuild, probably even on its early year its introduced, most likely because the people who sophisticated about the class concepts, mostly magnum opus, already long gone from the project.

imc would defend alchemist elixir art was its latest addition to alchemist crafting but then the problem is what people expect of alchemist is either the greatness of magnum opus to actually be like an alchemist (though the actual problem is these people clearly cant see that imc kill field mat drops), or the expectation of how RO like alchemist would be in tos with its deadlt potions, grass and homunculus

honestly for second expectation they can just play cleric to throws bottles of holy waters and grow deadly grass. they can play summoner for homunculus. but no, cause what they expect is to bring RO alchemist to tos.

the main problem is branding it alchemist and previous hakkyu kim game had alchemist and so people expecting it to be exactly the same, or at least equally awesome

to be fair BG is dirt cheap these day

expecting ToS’s alchemist to be like Ragnarok’s would be nice, but it’s not the idea (although I consider it to be the more creative and functional alchemist than many MMORPGs I’ve played). However, it is unacceptable that his skill is so useless.
Although it is not the only class with that problem. No one remembers the sapper and his traps that are currently doing nothing. Or certain dead skills of the pardoner (dekatos, wtf)

If we talk about dead skills there’s definitely more than alchemist or squire, sapper is still somewhat playable in field, but these two guys branded as yellow class craft like pardoner but nowhere in pardoner level of reliability. There was never once demand of alchemist or squire in battle but pardoner is mostly acceptable. If what they do all these years is rebalancing classes to be fair, they should’ve address this

What so funny is imc decision, which like I said before, driven by KR request, they always tend to rebalance classes that played the most and touches rarely played class maybe later, maybe not

One great example is linker

When I recently log I caught on surprise that every single build of scouts top bernice first page are linker lmao. That’s when linker skillset was ■■■■ after jp nerfed(yes I quit eons ago), and field hunting is dead, and its not played that much since then, prob not until they add join heart(?) Art or whatever addition to linker that makes it so vital to the build

Though this is imc we are talking, with imc way of thinking and my past experience, a class seemingly so vital for a build will end up getting nerfed sooner or later, so they can introduce something else, and voila there they go they would call it balance.

What i can certainly rate of how tos rebalancing result all these years is, mostly it never were disperse meta, it’s mostly just shifting meta build. I saw some tree are still healthy, while some other mostly meta cancerous minded.

“Business” classes issue is simple to identify, there’s no room for them in game anymore (not that they were truly good at some point).

There’s nothing in game to engage that isn’t combat related or available to any character at no commitment cost, it’s just natural for crafting classes to be dead on arrival. Why would anyone level a business character if they have little value in combat and offer no benefit from investing them past their skill point cap? They could just add more of these to take the other slots but that changes nothing (at most, you lose less character slots). Buffing them to have a similar combat value as a regular classes isn’t that viable either, as you can’t have a class that is as good but can also offer more outside the usual.

Either they change the approach to this type of class or they’ll have to reshape the whole game to make that concept work, maybe as side classes that don’t take regular class slots, maybe offer some benefits from leveling them (like unlock new potions), maybe add some progression system through the business skills and crafting (earn EXP proportional to the shop fee?), or anything else they can come up to (it’s still way more work for something as niche).

People keep bringing up the RO comparison but here’s the catch, RO alchemist wasn’t that good, it just had a some good gimmicks that were in line with the class concept (merchant power comes from money) and an unique role in the game through coating, which is remarkable as the Alchemist fantasy can flop quite easily. ToS Alchemist “unique role” is to craft half ass consumables and recover SP (which was a late addition), completely disposable. This is why one is taken as a prime example and the other one is a joke. IMC doesn’t has to make it their own take on RO’s nor give it homunculi, what the class needs (as many others also do) is to have its own reason to be used, be good at it, not suck at the core gameplay loop and have a reason to be be invested on.

The only good thing i can say for now is that the latest reworks are doing good in the identity side, they’re still mild for my taste but it’s a significant improvement. There is hope for Squire, Alchemist, Linker, Sapper and others.

What’s the state of arrow-type Archer compatibility in KToS? Are Mergen and the new class Bow locked, or can they fit on Crossbow builds? Is Ranger still compatible with Crossbow builds? I’d especially like to use Mergen for its new passive healing, but if I can still pair Ranger with the two Crossbow specialist classes, the new high mobility skills might be fun to have.

They can revive alchemist

  • Combustion is removed and replaced with throw potion like in RO
  • Dig should at least be used to farm potion materials
  • Magnus Opus should be able to re-craft old stuff into newer ones … unique items turn to much more sierra or those 430 below materials crafted to advanced 460 …
  • Sprinkle SP and HP is kinda dead this late in the game and should be replaced as an offensive AOE skill / remove magic circles / or can be similar to old heal and scatter buff on the ground XD
  • Alchemist Missile is super useless … I used this before when linker was with wizard to farm stuff but now its plain garbage …
  • HUMONCULUS!!! WHERE??? where my beautiful pets … the most thing I’h hyped is totally gone … you cant even craft that stone anymore??? to summon your humon …

fletcher is more interesting, but i think every archer using appraiser now because you dont need to much DPS skill

Say goodbye to a lot of skills and attributes.

I didn’t expect such a huge balance patch for all classes.

Imagine being a wizard lmao. They got nerfed into the ground.

IMC pretty much removed all class synergies by deleting the corresponding skills and attributes from the game. Needless to say that the korean playerbase is less than thrilled as evident by the comment section.

It’s one of those impulsive decisions by IMC like common classes that might be scrapped after enough player backlash.

The thing that really annoys me is that they’re changing fencer from a sustained damage class to a burst class…so a BB with rapiers, basically. It may be easier for them to balance things like that, but uniforming the gameplay is kinda boring.

how about the Reinforce Bowstring then?

now we just hope that it wont come to itos like that relic 20

Funny just when I wrote a day ago linker will get nerfed and it’s chain heart etcs nerfed already lol

As druid fans here’s Druid summary:
Crit dmg boost no more
Magic circle/installation synergy no more
All stat boost no more
7% final damage 30min or 21% for 10s w/ 30s cd
Carnivorous lit, still no sfr info yet, probably still h*tty

Yet I hope they address the Pointless basic attack scratch than end up limit druid aa combo
Address the possibility of making the skills more viable for bossing with arts like piety focus or cyclone tornado
Address that druid has no special costume prob with special effect
Meh
That day will never arrive, it’s always been my fault to have faith

Though I believe classes that have enough playerbase in kr will probably safe, they will thrive with the complaints, but class that nobody care just wrecked

Maybe they want to use all the deleted skill for new class
Maybe they do this patch half 4ss just by deleting stuffs with no reasonable compensation or reason explained
Maybe they just want to delete all skills one by one, and finally give every single class one same single skill thus all classes are balance

maybe

Maybe they just too tired

lol

As a Druid main since the class has been out, the only thing I can be happy for is 100% Lycanthropy Wolf uptime (cooldown is now 30 seconds) and Carnivory “might” be “useful”

Also Kabbalist was taken out back and had its legs broken. They gutted Gevura and Merkabah is now useless.
