I don’t think monk has too much synergy with the rest of the build, tbh. Plague doctor can’t spread any of monk’s DoT’s and both miko and PD are int/spr classes so your stats are a bit all over the place. Perhaps try Zealot or Dievderbys instead of PD in this build unless you’re really only taking PD for the speed boost.
If you really want an all-in synergy with Monk and Energy Blast, try Krivis/Monk/Chaplain.
Hmmm, if you’re building around that miko loot chance thing, I still think dievderbys or Zealot would be amazing for simply farming mobs. PD is certainly pretty great at killing crowds, but Zealot is just a wee bit easier and more consistent imo. And with Diev you will at least get to spam your beam more often and have a powerful one-inch-punch due to the high SPR scaling.
Miko/Zeal/Monk also has that crit synergy going on too, so that’s nice.
if you watch the video, you can see that there is about 1 second left at the end of the buff where you can squeeze in another Energy Blast.
Endgame monsters are basically all beast types now.
Kugheri Balzermancer, Asiomage,Velcoffer,Boruta,Skyaclips,Irredian Shelters Amist Dog, 400 HG Misrus are all beast type.
The only notable demons are the demon lords and Ignas.
If at all you have an advantage with Rubric, it’s the fact that the physical defense of these monsters is way higher than their magic defense.
You seem to ignore that exorcist skills have a target limit (10 for Rubric, 8 for Aqua Benedicta) while Energy Blast has no target limit at all [correct me if I’m wrong here], with Aqua Benedicta not hitting any flying monsters.
You also forget that against demons, you may have doubled hits, but demons in general have about 2,5-3,5 times the amount of physical defense as magic defense, crippling your damage severely before you even double your damage.
E.g. if you hit Nuaele with 15k matk with a maxed lvl 15 level 100 enhance Rubric, you deal 441701 damage (I’ll ignore holy multiplier and cards as well as magic damage reduction of the bosses unique buff for this calculation, just to showcase).
With skyaclips mace ichor, you can x 2,1428 that to 946476.
Now, for Energy Blast, let’s calculate with 7000% since you are not so sure about the damage.
We go against the same Nuaele, this time against her 17300 physical defense with 15000 physical attack (average).
You’ll get 290792 damage per Energy Blast, which is nearly 2/3 of the damage of Rubric (which has a 2x multiplier and a SFR that is 1.4 times higher in this calculation, meaning 2,8 times the factor melts down to only 1.5 times the damage).
This means that without skyaclips mace ichor, Rubric will only deal 30-40% of what continuous spam of Energy Blast can deal (if we’re talking about skyaclips ichor, we can also calculate skyaclips monk mace ichor for +2 levels of Energy Blast).
All in all, especially against demons, exorcist will be crippled, since only Rubric deals 2x damage against them, while Aqua Benedicta[2x the SFR melts down to ± the same damage, lvl 15 aqua benedicta deals about 298208 damage), Gregorate (151927 damage with 5 party members) and Koinonia (698584 damage with 5 party members over 15 seconds) do not while suffering from the high mdef[ total averaged without Gregorate buff, without rod mastery = 1590420 for exorcist(Koinonia,Rubric,Gregorate,Aqua Benedcta), 1163168 damage with 4x Energy Blast for monk] .
You’ll have to rely on rod mastery, Gregorate debuff and other classes to fix that problem.
I’m not saying that per se exorcist is bad, but you seem to be overestimating the capabilities of exorcist. He’s very crippled in offensive capabilities against enemies with high mdef without mdef reduction support, and since the nerf of Judgement duration against bosses, Rubric damage cannot be multiplied reliably against non-demons, averaging Rubric damage against demons and against non-demons to ± the same level of damage.
Oops my bad on the Energy Blast count and Endgame monsters part, too used to Demon Lords. In the long run, the damage from Energy Blast still won’t be that far off especially when trying to fit them into a 15 second Divine Stigma and 30 second Cappella.
Apologies if you felt I ignored anything, the talk was on damage alone so I didn’t think about delving into the target limit. With that said, 10 monsters is still a lot, and there aren’t that many situations where infinite AoE Attack Energy Blast would be that much better than 10 targets (I guess Challenge Modes in an alley way). If we are going to talk about things not pertaining to damage, I guess we can also include other things like how Energy Blast forces you to stay in place for 4 seconds while Rubrics can be cancelled at any time in a pinch, and so on.
Just wanting to clarify if you meant the other way round. If anything, this means Energy Blast is worse off. Assuming you meant the other way round, I can also say the same for most other monsters that aren’t demon have higher physical defense than magic defense, crippling Energy Blast’s damage as well.
In the spirit of fairness, I don’t mind including Skiaclipse Mace’s +2 Monk skill levels into the equation since the lack of raw from going 2H-Mace instead out-performs the additional +2 Monk skill levels in a 1H-Mace while Skiaclipse 2H-Maul’s ichor effectively doubles Rubrics’ damage, making it too important to leave out. I do agree though that without the ichor, Energy Blast outperforms Rubrics unless other skills in an Exorcist build can make up for the difference in that 2 extra seconds from not going with Skiaclipse 2H-Maul.
I won’t delve into the numbers as I’ve said, so I really thank you for going through those calculations. From your words and summary, Rubrics without the ichor deals 30-40% of what continuous spams of Energy Blast can deal. To put it in another way, Rubrics with the ichor can deal in 4 seconds 60-80% of what continuous spams of Energy Blast deals in 15 seconds (not counting in Exorcist’s other two Arts Attribute that helps on monsters resistant to Holy Damage). All those other skills Exorcists can use within and outside its skill-set (except Katadikazo, I am still not sure in kTest if it’s strong), take only a second each to do, and most magic skills are all fire-and-forget skills that take a very short time to use, or channeling skills that are worth the damage and time spent. Going 2H-Mace also opens up to Inquisitor, a very strong burst DPS class with attributes that benefit from 2H-Maces that can help those physical defense worries. In particular, Exorcists can go Druid that has a lot of strong skills and buffs while Monks have to avoid Druid due to Demi-Lycan form that disables the ability to Double Punch. Monks are kinda limited in their build class selection compared to Exorcists to be relevant as a damage class. I’ve not included Arts Attributes from the whole Cleric tree, though the amount of Arts Attributes that benefit Monk is very limited compared to Exorcists (mostly utility, INT-based or healing). In the bigger picture, Exorcists can do all that, meanwhile Monks will only be channeling Energy Blast while buffing up and using whatever skills to do 5 critical hits as fast as possible. Any time that a Monk uses skills other than Energy Blast or is unable to deal 5 critical hits after using Double Punch, less time is spent using Energy Blast AKA the same problem Monk has with Double Punch back in the days.
Sure, I may be overestimating the capabilities of Exorcist, a class considered kinda broken and a top meta DPS class that has been reigning alongside Inquisitor as far and away the best damage classes in the Cleric tree. I do believe though, that you may be overestimating Energy Blast’s capabilities as well.
Not really. The one thing I like with Energy Blast is that it is easy to use, and given monk has a decent skillset with enough cc and armor ignore, it’s very good.
In fact, if we talk about continuous use, Energy Blast is just better, especially since it allows for crowd control with the basic knockdown. It’s also very down-to-earth as you can play monk as a standalone now, meaning the other two classes can be anything you want since you can 24/7 Double Punch + Energy Blast.
This allows for a lot of versatile builds, including classes that are currently neglected like for example pardoner, paladin, kabbalist, dievdirbys, chaplain, etc.
Yes, monk is bad against bosses with high physical defense (or let’s say,not as good as inquisitor), but he doesn’t need to be that good since it is a solo player class, in contrast to exorcist, which is a party class (needs 5 people in specific positions/of specific classes for perfect damage output),
so it’s obvious that exorcist should perform better at party level.
On solo level, though, both classes are now pretty much equal (if we can say equal in the current state where it generally depends on equipment and type of enemy for damage calculation), with exorcist having a little more average damage while monk has better damage reduction and cc capabilities.
I can already see monk rising in popularity, though. It’s one of the best clerics now, probably at 3rd place after exorcist and inquisitor.
Now I wanna see Breaking Wheel + Energy Blast spam.
Hmm, if I remember correctly, Breaking Wheel + Energy Blast doesn’t work since for some reason Breaking Wheel doesn’t get hit by Energy Blast or it does not spread Energy Blast’s damage. Weird stuff, maybe things have changed in kToS.
I agree the class will be quite decent now, it can now “carry” builds unlike before where it was just Silence/CC/Auto-Attack filler that’s worse than just taking another class for damage skills. Chaplain and Krivis is great for Holy Damage buff and Bossing Damage respectively, but the damage is such that it isn’t really a MUST to take now. It really needs that investment though (Arts Attribute, being able to deal critical hits consistently, Monk is still utter garbage without that Art Attribute), since it’s going to be much harder hitting 5 critical hits on a boss compared to hordes of mobs in a CM run.
(Shifting kToS topics before people get triggered about kToS Monk spam)
What’s the deal with Zealot’s Art Attribute, dying to give everyone Heals and Damage buffs (Also, the range of the Heal and Damage is real short)? IMC even made the Damage buff stack 3 times, IMC trying to make Zealot a support class or something? Zealot getting an Art Attribute that does not benefit themselves and promotes dying to waste death counts …
{((DEX+Attack speed(raw number))/1000)^0,7}*(-1)+1=time between AA
Part of it was released with re:build’s patch. I added the Attack speed raw number you get from skills and cards. It works pretty well. The cap is 20 attacks per second, according to the forum.
Can someone confirm that Demon Lord Mitris card “Attack property penalties reduce by * 10%” can have negative side effect upon negating down to 0%?
Like for example: Skia has 20% holy property something. Having level 2-3 Mitris will negate out the penalty, but having level 10 DL Mitris would be something like 100% reduced penalty. Does that mean that i’m doing 80% more damage with holy damage (Rubrick)?
