Killing Other Players in Open world?

I had been looking into all the News and Information about the game in order to prepare myself for the release. However, one thing has caused me confusion.

In the Ausrine Civil War 1 between DCOG and Legwynma. One of the events stated that they were able to come into parties and killed all the DCOG players in sight. I am aware that you can’t kill players since there isn’t a PvP Open Channel or something. So how did they kill players?

It is open PvP if you are in a guild and the guild is at war with another, so it doesn’t matter which map (except city and dungeon i think), you can kill the enemy guild members and they can kill you.

They were at war with each other.
In ToS, guilds can declare war and enter GvG mode.
In GvG mode, all guild members can kill their enemies in open map. GvG is an open PK system.

Do you even war?

If you’re a member of either one of the guilds who are in a war then everyone on the opposing guild are your enemies, meaning PvP anytime.

If you got auto-matched with enemy guild member in a dungeon/mission, you can be killed. Of course, you can kill too.
If you met enemy guild member in a town, it goes the same.

In town also?..really?I didn’t know XD…nice

no war in town.
it is safe to join non aggressive guild. You don’t gain anything in GvG so people are unlikely to do it.

I’m not even comment on the dungeon, but on city is kind overkill, if an enemy is AFKing when he come back he is found dead lol.

Oh ok so @E_Magica was wrong then.

You can’t PK in town. But you can PK in the open field and dungeons/missions.

Oh. I got wrong… town is the only exception. thanks!

That’s awesome! And here I thought this game was purely PvE or with very underwhelming PvP
