Have you thought about getting some +SP regen from headgear or other equip and/or using some potions?
yes for pots. My general combo is
Spear lunge > DragonTooth > Serpentine > Pierce
Then
Spear lunge > Stabbing > Dragon Soar > Cyclone
You can do all this with the full duration of Pain Barrier and without lag factor
After Cyclone is done usually spear lunge, dragontooth, and serpentine is up
followed by stabbing
there’s no more room for gae bulg or spearthrow with the full rotation of skills
Spear Throw is a good skill if you reach 170 and use Gera’s Spear.
It literally doubles Spear Throw damage and is excelent for AoE farming. It has a extremely big radius (for a spammable, swordsman skill) and can one shot most common mobs with a critical hit. With Geras Spear, it deals even more damage than Pierce on Large monsters.
Here’s a tip.
Using a Geras Spear, and grab a falconer friend. Have the falconer use circling and watch your Spear Throw’s become god tier.
At full STR, my spear throws hit 20k+.
How do you think it fares in endgame? Some people say spear throw lacks scaling and sucks end-game.
But from what I see, the base damage is quite big, especially with geras spear. I don’t see how it would just fall off at end-game.
Yea I noticed the same thing. It is probably the only big radius skill for a hoplite. And I also noticed that pierce sucks. I mean seriously a skill on 30s cooldown should not be outperformed by a skill on 0s cooldown that is also an AoE skill. But what do I know.
I already got a geras spear but have yet to reach lv170.
Pierce is a good skill in itself, however, Geras will make Throw Spear outperform Pierce on Large monsters. Pierce still deals a lot more damage on bosses (Extra Large).
Eventually, when using other skills, Geras will be outclassed by better weapons at higher levels (for example, a higher level 1 hand spear + Arde/Karacha Dagger, or a powerfull 2 Hand Spear if you go to Dragoon path) that will make Pierce better (with these better items) than Throw Spear (with Geras), but its unlikely tht they’ll outclass Throw Spear (with these better weapons) damage with Geras.
In that case, get used to switch gears for specific purpose. I’m planning to have 3 spears at the moment, Zega, Geras and Brandish.
I do already have Zega (for casting Finestra) and Geras, and i’m looking for Brandish. Each will have it’s specific purpose.
