For those who witnessed or know of the horrors of the Archeage launch, they also had major exploits (easy dupe exploits) that essentially did the same thing as the recent Steam Payment explot.
Players that played in the CBTs in that game also felt the same way many of the players here do. That CBT was fine, or the aspects that weren’t (bugs) were long reported. Game launches without fixing the bugs, and things that were perfectly fine during Beta, Launched with p2w/greed restricting them.
Archeage also apparently made famous the phrase, “No tricks, no traps” and then became heavily p2w. It’s hilarious to see the forum debates there where people argue semantics. “The game isn’t p2w, f2p can do everything a whale can.” Except a whale can accomplish in a week what would take a legit player a year. Personally I’m even hungry to throw some money for TP and have some decently enchanted gear, admittedly I want to support IMC and pay my dues to them. But oh please, don’t let the game become more broken.
The other glaring thing those producers did was the terrible communication. They had this silly ass stream they would do each week and spend five minutes addressing some of the heaviest trafficked topics. Then the remainder of the stream they’d run around showing off this week’s cosmetics and RNG boxes. Thirty minutes of screwing around looking at these awkward people who have such little showmanship and game knowledge they’d actually ask some of those rudimentary things about the game to each other. It was cringe worthy on several occasions. The point being is that like IMC they also failed to address anything throughout the week. Besides forum moderators giving the typical vague political answers that only beg more questions or don’t address things at all to begin with.
Conclusion:
So far this is a typical Korean MMO launch, but that’s not a good thing.
