Lua system is the reason why super bots exist in tos.
Sure, take Lua scripting out completely. It was mainly for the GUI and easy mod for the publisher and maintainers (mods) to change simple settings. I think it’s a bad idea since you leave it vulnerable due to it’s easiness.
But mod support us one of the few things this game does right. Removing lua modding is just gonna lead to bots using one of many easily available macro programs to do the same thing. I’m confident on this because that’s what I did on ArchAge back when it came out to overcome the lame energy system.
Link to a LUA script that enables actual botting and capabilities beyond that of a legitimate player (ranged melee attacks) and you’ve got yourself a case.
World of Warcraft has LUA support and is doing rather well if I do say so myself.
IMC just needs to adapt the same practice regarding add-ons that overstep the boundary of UI modding and go right into botting territory - and that means banhammering those who abuse LUA into oblivion. Simple as that.
Removing Lua will make it harder actually, every week the non Lua bot would have to update due to the patch unlike the Lua bot.
and WOW plays tons of bots.
It’s kinda easy to re-add every code to the lua file.
I’m neutral in this matter. I like lua because of the excrulon’s addon, but it can cause alot of misuse too.
If only IMC can improve their design such that we don’t need the addon.
yes it’s good so the publisher doesn’t have to bother the developer over little changes.
What matter more, there are lots of PLAYERS in WoW.
Happy ones, too, despite it being a subscription game with cash-shop mounts and whatnot. Because, you know, happy customers first, punishing wrongdoers second, not the other way around unless you want to get rid of your playerbase, fast.
Tell me more about WOW. Ever seen this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=darnXugU0xo ???
Wow scripts are fckng insane.
