Is healthy food really expensive or is it a myth used as a excuse not to eat better?

Do you think heathy food really expensive?

Depends what you mean by healthy food, in summer when we do a lot of salad at my house the groceries total price go really low cause we buy all our vegetables and fruit to the greengrocery shop wich is provided by the local people and it’s healthier since we eat a lot of vegetable and in winter we eat soup made by my father. Then again we make all our meal ourselves we don’t buy premade stuff, i even do the fries myself every sunday (i live in north of France).

Anyway i think it’s definitely cheaper to make healthy food yourself, than to buy premade meal or fast food.

if i’m not mistaken, the reason for that is cuz majority of the ppl buys more unhealthy food and since unhealthy food got more consumers so did they increase the price for the healthy ones, to make up for it… nowadays, most ppl goes for unhealthy since those are cheaper

so yah, healthy food is actually both easier and cheaper to make

Define “healthy”, even meat is neccesary, without it’s proteins we wouldn’t even have developed brains in the first place!

The only real problem is that we eat to much.

Healthy food itself is expensive if you buy it already made. If you cook everything yourself, know the best recipes and ingredients it will be a lot cheaper.

As long as you aren’t eating processed stuff I wouldn’t tell anyone they’re eating wrong, since they usually use cheap or bad ingredients to mass produce processed stuff. It taste 100x better and is way healthier to make junk food for your kids to eat than buy it. My parents always got food from real markets, owned by people our family know and trust. Buying food from farmers you trust directly or going out and hunting it yourself will always remain the best way. Its not like talking about healthy eating will matter, in America at least. It all depends how far you’re willing to go for " healthy eating " laziness and obesity will keep growing even if everyone knows this. People ignore ingredients and love fast food. As a result, people will forever choose to blame innocent things like gaming :expressionless:

It is in comparison to fast food chains depending on where you live. However if you budget properly and purchase from the right people it isn’t too expensive, especially if you prepare your own meals and use a wide variety of cheap ingredients.
In my country I mostly purchase my vegetables from local farmers rather than going into the super market, if I go early I normally get first pick of the best stuff and at the same price. Then I can make big quantities of vegetarian dishes or just ‘healthier’ things easily.

What you should focus on is really balancing your diet, you can still eat junk food or empty carbs like cookies a few times a week so long as you’re getting plenty of nutrients from other non-processed foods and do a bit of a balancing act with calorie intake(calories are not inherently bad either, you need them.)

I’m no expert on marketing, but as far as i know the price of most products is influenced by the brand name and how much they advertise, since some portion of the price we pay is to make up for the amount the company spends advertising their products. A good example is cereal, most grocery stores have their own brand of cereal for about half the price of the popular brands that you see on TV, and its literally the exact same cereal but with a different name. Personally i buy as much healthy food as i can, and usually just pick whichever brand is cheapest unless i’ve researched and know that there actually is a difference in the more expensive ones.
