The attribute for Gung ho says it raises the damage AND the decreases defense by 1. Does this mean you only get 1 atk point at the cost of 1 def point per lvl?. That seems like a pretty bad attribute to enhance, unless you go for Dex. Am I missing something?
It’s useful early - mid game from lvl 1 to lvl 150. I use that a lot before rank 6. Once reaches rank 5 or 6 it became useless since there’s other buff that are more useful and you have a limit on how many buff you can have. Since the attribute to enhance is cheap, I maxed it early and it does help a lot having 50-60 additional damage. Reducing 50-60 defense doesn’t impact much in my opinion since defense works this way -> Damage took = Enemy’s damage - Defense.
At max level it gives +100 damage and -60 defense.
Useful or not is for you to decide. But my cataphract at level 180 have 880 average damage unbuffed, so +100 damage is around 11% increased in damage. Sure it will get worse later on, but hey, +100 is still +100 right
Thanks that gives a good picture damage-wise.
What I’m more wondering is the defense loss. It pretty much takes away a lot from defense. 60 less defense means 60 more damage from each hit.
It’s also a concern because in my case I only have 1 rank in swordsman, so that means there’s almost as much defense loss as dmg gained, if I level up the attributes.
60 more dmg isnt that much when mobs hit for 800.
I’d recommend that if you have concentrate lvl up that attribute first when you are rank 1-3. Get Gung Ho’s attribute upto like lvl 5-10 in that time, and then later when your comfortable with taking more dmg / you reach rank 3 or so and def begins to fall off, lvl the rest of the gung ho attribute.
So yeah don’'t max gung ho’s attr at rank 1, the increased dmg u take at that time is quite significant.
Good advice, thx.
What I don’t like about concentrate with only one rank in swordsman is that it it only works for a couple hits. But I get it can still be good at the start, so I’ll do more that one.
A bad line of thinking that people here get drawn into is that they forget to take defense into account.
If you have 1000 attack and you have a skill that boosts your attack by 100, how much of a percentage gain in damage is that? Most people here would say 10%, but that would be wrong. It honestly depends.
Realistically, when you get to the point in the game when you have around 1000 attack, you’re still only going to be hitting for like 600 damage. Since defense is a flat reduction, that +100 damage is actually around a 17% increase. That’s a lot better.
So, in essence, you are correct, that it is indeed better with higher dex as opposed to higher strength, if you are purely looking at a higher increase in damage percentage done. That said, 70 damage is nothing to really scoff at for a buff with 100% uptime. It’s not amazing either. It’s a fine buff for circle 1, but I wouldn’t recommend raising the attribute until you are over level 150 or so, or you’re going to get beat up badly. Also, magic mobs don’t really care about your defense anyways.
but its impact to high base damage skills is still low right?
That depends on the base damage, how many times they hit, and how high the enemy defense is. It is completely situational unfortunately. Remember that swordsman can hold a lot of buffs, which is nice.
get hit by a mobb of 5-10 monster and all hit for 60 more dmg, trust me it hurts alot.
Not really, I maxed gung ho attribute at level 80 and I never died to any physical mobs. Plate mastery helps a lot
You might not die, as it’s pretty hard to die at lower levels, but your potion cost or downtime is going to skyrocket.
Kill stuff faster and take less damage
