This. It’s not really a matter of whether you can, but whether you should.
Personally, I do not want to see a repeat of what afkemists did to some maps on RO and alchemist reputation in general. The only upside is that pets have limited autonomous AI in this game, though it would not matter if they can one/two-hit KO the monsters.

Pressing down a button and farming while AFK is still considered botting, sure your not using a program however you are abusing in game mechanics to your advantage and is against the terms of service.
In regards to pet’s i’m unsure, your not really abusing anything, I often go AFK without even realizing and my pet attacks things.
you know, there is “/” between pressing and afk farming with pet, right?
Possibly and it would be a relatively simple fix for the pets, however sticking something on a key to hold it down with the intention of not actually playing the game.
I don’t agree they should be banned, however warned of the consequences in doing so.
I think any method in which a person is able to gain something in the game without physically being at the keyboard should be considered botting. If a person is too busy or unwilling to play a game because they have other more important things to do or simply think the game is too boring or monotonous to invest their time into it, then they shouldn’t bother with the game.
It’s not like you get mad respect and tons of dates for having a high level dude on ToS. It’s a game, it’s supposed to be fun. If it’s not fun enough for somebody to actually be there to play it, then it’s obvious somebody is just clogging up the server for … bragging rights?

The issue with you and too many people’s logic around here is you think lack of focus is the same as having an advantage. IMC and the rest of us will ask: how and why? Someone with a dual monitor setup holding X is 100% no different than anyone with 1 monitor…except he’s watching a movie.

Bots don’t sit still. They run straight paths, back-forth paths to scan for mobs, teleport, etc. They aren’t going to sit in an area and spam a button and then go to playing a dungeon 2 hours later like normal. IMC understands this, and works according to REASON instead of people bellyaching about mobs being taken from them.
@wenoweon I suggest you add the link to the news post that @acolyte posted, as well as add [YES*] to the thread title so people stop popping in to complain about people holding a button…

Nowhere they mention is allowed.
He is saying that the automatic bot report has an automatic system that can ban or not afk user. Meaning if you report and it fails you loose points as a reporter. Not that they wouldn’t ban if analysed by a person, instead of the bot computer program.
Nowhere there he is saying you shouldn’t report afk player in other ways.
On the contrary, he is suggesting afk should be reported but by other means.
and then again
You are reporting as bot and he doesn’t act like one.
So automatic response will be innocent.
Now if you report him as an afker, he is suggesting that he will get banned.
Just don’t use BOT report to do that.

afk farm should be dealt with. If need be, first inform players its no longer tolerated and roll out first ban wave next week. ■■■■ those people, all of them. You cant just play the game can you!? you are so pathetic that you need to exploit any smallest possibility to inflate the economy and make everyone else pay because you are too lazy to level and farm normally. The game doesn’t need you, the economy doesn’t need you, we don’t need you and it will be a much better place without you.
