Interesting Flat Damage + Pyromancer Interaction

I was playing my ranger and was recently buffed with Enchant Fire from a pyromancer. I assumed it would add damage as normal (the same way my Steady Aim does) to my attacks, but it seemed to work in an unusual way. Instead of seeing 1 damage number and <Enchant Fire +x> in yellow. I saw 2 damage numbers. One for my normal auto attack and one that was the fire damage. This is different than how my steady aim usually works, so I was curious. I activated steady aim and interestingly enough it added the Steady Aim damage to my normal attack AND to the additional fire hit. I confirmed this by seeing the <Steady Aim +x> in yellow twice. In theory this also works with Blessing instead of Steady Aim as it does the same effect pretty much.

I didn’t have a mob with enough hp for me to test a multi-shot barrage but in theory it should also work. That’s a pretty decent multiplier if it indeed works. The extra damage from an Enchant Fire vs just using Steady Aim and Multishot would be = (no of Multishot hits)*(Enchant Fire damage+Steady Aim damage). Because Steady Aim is already added to each hit it essentially doubles down on your Steady Aim buff.

I would say only a few levels in Enchant Fire are needed as it doesn’t have an attribute buff, but Steady Aim can get +100 from attributes and Blessing can hit nearly +200 from attributes and skill level.

Anyone have any better ideas on how to abuse this? Or someone want to test it with Blessing, etc?

Crazy best case scenario math:
Spiral Arrow 6 hits at 180 per hit.
Assume our weapon is around 150 and our str is 100, so normal this will do a total of 2580 damage without crit.
Assume we have a Blessing with max attribute but only level 3 : so +123 damage, same with our Steady Aim: +111.
Steady Aim and Blessing are adding 234 * 6 = 1404 damage without the Enchant Fire, and with Enchant Fire (ignoring its base bonus) they add another 1404.
So normal: 2580
Just + Dmg buffs: 3985

  • Dmg buffs with fire hit: 5388

To note that the 2808 damage we are getting bonus ignores armor but cannot crit.

Blessing will simply add x dmg to every hit you deal. that’s all.

However, i’ve had similar results with sacrament. For my auto attacks it adds a second hit. But it doesn’t do so for cure or heal, for those it merely adds the damage. Could be because they’re skills, spells or already deal holy dmg.

What’s your teamname? i can provide blessing/sacrament for testing purposes.(Mine is Wurmheart)

That’s exactly how my Steady Aim works. Blessing also does add damage to each hit in multishot, I’ve seen that work on me already. Sacrament sounds interesting though, maybe possible to add both fire and holy and triple down. And like I said it was hard to tell if my Archer skills got the extra hit as I was killing stuff that died too quick.

Can’t test right now, but after work I may be able to. You can always find an archer and double buff him to test.

My guess is that the game can’t combine multiple elements in to one damage number because of weaknesses, etc so it just does multiple hits with each part, which ends up giving us this “bug” / interaction.

Ok just tried it again. It only works on auto attacks for some reason. Sad :*(
Be on the lookout for any new skills that effect autos though as it could provide an ok boost given the right buff. Kneeling shot build? Who knows.
