Interesting facts about the lore

First of all, i will note, that i found out about this game today, and am interested in trying it, reminds me of the NosTale i used to play.
Now to the business, since it caught my eye, i checked out the classes and the skill builder, and saw some interesting things, thus feel the urge to share with others.

The goddesses names, that i saw on the wiki, or in the story on this page, are taken from Lithuanian pagan beliefs. I know that due to the fact, here is a wiki, though in lithuanian as one can imagine.
https://lt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lietuvių_mitologija. You can see the names of Laima, Gabija and few other there, on the right. Laima and Gabija btw, are common names in Lithuania.

Another thing from the story here on the website, is the name of the place Klaipeda. In this case, not a mythical place, but a port city. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klaipėda.

Though since i don’t know much about the pagan lore, i may miss more than a few things, like the skill name Zalciai, for Krivis, means grass-snakes, and the symbol for it is presumably taken from here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romuva_(religion). And that’s about it, what i wanted to share.

TL;DR Some of the lore is taken from the lithuanian pagan culture.

Yeah, the developers have explicitly stated that their lore is based on Lithuanian Mythology in their Developer’s Blog somewhere. Kinda too lazy to find the exact post since it would take a while…

I find this so cool.

‘Snow’ is a user from Lithuania - he shared some info about their mythology/culture here
and here. XD

Q) There was a question whether this game is based on the Norse mythology.
A) We got a motive from Lithuanian mythology. There are classes in the game which are related to the gods in Baltic mythology. The same goes for the “Tree” which is the major part of the story in the game. However, we used Lithuanian mythology only as a motive so the game is not wholly based on Lithuanian mythology.

Also, it’s said they went a variety of places around the world to gather some of their lore information, which is pretty awesome!

Clearly he knows more than i do. Even so, it’s a nice part of the game, brings more depth to the lore, to some extent. My bad for not doing more research.

Bursted my bubble T_T

Lithuanian myths often reveal the inner heroism of a human being, symbolizing this inner being in terms of various feats in the mystic lands on the opposite side of the Earth, or in the sky of the South polar regions, commonly describing these places as “The Land over All the Seas” and “The Cosmic Underwater Kingdom”, respectively.

Endgame areas? From the very scarce wikipedia page about Lithuanian mythology.

Unfortunately don’t know much about the stories themselves. More of a Greek/Egyptian mythology kind of guy. Though i could do some research on the matter.

The Class Dievdirbys comes from Lithuanian Culture aswell.

EDIT: Oh, how neat that this forum shows a prelude of the wiki side.

this game is food for our noggins :pizza:

It seems the developers went above and beyond to flesh out Lithuanian mythology and might even know more about it than what is presented on Wikipedia as a result. I look forward to documenting ToS’s stories.

When they reference about a land or Underwater Kingdom in the Southern part of the Earth, could it be a reference about Antarctica,Agarthi or Hollow Earth?
