Integrated graphics question!

Hello,

I use integrated graphics since I do not want to purchase a graphics card. My questions are about the performance of Tree of Savior on an iGPU!

I have built my PC to run well on integrated graphics (2300mhz 16gb ram, SSD) so I can run many games like LoL (high fps on medium) , Dota 2 (high fps on lower settings), CSGO, Blade and Soul (combat optimised settings get me high fps).

I looked at the requirements to run the game and I noticed the GPU required is pretty cheap (~$150?). Does this mean the game runs more on processing power than it does on GPU?

Also, if you use an iGPU, please post here your experiences with running the game!

I don’t know the exact answer to your question but if you can play the games you listed then you shouldn’t have any problem playing ToS. It’s not a really graphically intense game so most people should be able to play it fine.

I think if you run on low or even medium you won’t have any issues if you can run those games you mentioned. Unless it’s a world boss or some GM event in town where alot of players gathered in one place and channel.

@qqmotion True, but I also hear that even people with top of the line computers get 5-10fps when there are hundreds of players on screen. I think it’s more of an optimization issue that they will need to fix or address at some point.

Yea, even my machine get low fps when that happens. The last day of iCBT1 was crazy in town. Last day in iCBT1
Well we can test it again in the upcoming iCBT2, but it is already a good job they able to bring down the requirements need to play the game smoothly.

Wow, that is good news for me then! Thanks for the swift replies~ ~ I will not worry then when I get the chance to play ^ ^

You should be able to do fine, but it wouldn’t hurt to get a discrete graphics card if you have the money, to see all the goods in Blade and Soul on Ultra ;D

I heard that some Integrated Graphics are actually pretty powerfull. What is yours OP ? (Also, do you have an air cooling for it ?)

you should be able to play ToS high settings with 30fps

Optimization will be quite hard since they choosed to use DX9, wich is pretty outdated nowadays, and it’s even more true in a MMORPG, since it may have a lot of ppl and a shitload of animation moving on your screen. But DX9 is really well known and building a game on it is easy, so… I can understand why they choosed it.

But I fear that it will be hard to play in a GvG battle…

Well that kind of sucks.

Well first of is optimization of tos.

Since you’re using integrated and a high mhz for ram I guess you’re using atleast AMD APU is this the a10 7850 kaveri? You won’t have problems running the game.

Even old laptops or graphic cards can run the game according to my research so you will be fine.

The best solution if you want more performance or fps get a GPU or atleast crossfire a r7 250 gpu there but as of linus sebastian getting a dedicated gpu would be cheaper than using crossfire it’s like per fps you gain in getting a r7 250 will be like 6$ per fps unlike getting a much more powerful gpu will atleast save you some money like you’re only paying for 1$ per fps.

Hello, sorry I was not able to make a reply earlier, anyways,

Here is the link to my CPU. It uses Radeon R7 integrated graphics. I was looking into a GPU that I can use crossfire with the intergrated GPU. It will be a long term goal for me (no funds!) along with liquid cooling my CPU. The aircooling in my system works fine with just the stock cooling systems. I built it with the idea of getting as much out of the integrated GPU as possible.

I also have my fears of packed channels or GvG wrecking my FPS and making it unplayable. When I get access to the game i’ll try to stress my system as much as I can and post my results for fellow GPU-less players/toasters to refer to.

Just as I thought the kaveri cpu from AMD.

It’s a good cpu can play decent games like BF4 not in ultra though and not in 1080p ultra.

The compatible gpu to crossfire there is the r7 250 gpu but as I’ve said if you know Linus in youtube they already tested this and its much better to invest in a higher tier GPU but you will not uss your integrated in a hybrid crossfire.

What resolution are you going to play tos with? Because even steparu who have a i7 cpu and a gtx titan video card had a very low fps drops if there’s lots of people in the area so don’t get discourage when the game go live there’s still lots of optimizations need to happen.

If I put any GPU in my case, it will have to be relatively low profile. I use a mATX case and motherboard so I really only have one slot and it would have to be a very tight fit…

I use a 1920 x 1200 screen a lot but sometimes I play on my 720p TV. I do this so often that if it just runs better on the TV’s lower display I might just replace my monitor with it for convenience ^ ^;;

Just stay out of starting zones and main cities and you should be fine.

mATX theres lots of strong GPus that will fit your case.

I have friends who have the same CPU as you do and they do purchase r9 290, 280x cards.

Ok, I’m updating my post with results from playing the iCBT!

I was blessed with a chance to play the iCBT (with help from a friend<33). It seems as though the only chance of me being able to play the game at stable high FPS is with the low settings. Thankfully the low settings really are not that bad compared to the high settings. With the default/high settings I get <60 constant FPS. Low I can reach up to 120 on empty maps and somewhere between 60 and 80 on a normal map. With many players and monsters I get 50~60 FPS. I’m really happy because I am actually getting better frames than my friend with a dedicated GPU build somehow :joy:

Something important to point out is that my screen is a small 1600x900 resolution. I think its small, or at least that’s what people who come over to my house tell me (ha ha). And resolution is a major factor in GPU performance! So this may be a reason why I get good frames ^ ^

My friend also plays on intergrated graphics on her all-in-one dell PC. It has something like Intel HD 4600 iGPU. She can reach 60FPS on low settings and in a smaller resolution. It’s quite comfortable (I guess~).

What would really help us toasters is a dx11 upgrade instead of the old dx9.0c and MULTI CORE SUPPORT PLEASE T__T;;

Other than that I find it to be a very pleasant experience.

I can edit this post with some pictures and data when I get more time!

I’m not surprised that you’re playing the game well with your build with that set up you can play TOS without any problems.

Here my PC in our computer shop is just a a8 5600k with a 4gb ram 1333mhz imagine a 1333mz can play TOS with 20-40FPS sometimes it spikes to 50 hahaha.
