I’ve seen a lot of topics related to dungeons addressed to the Matchmaking System but there’s another problem that requires attention which is Full Run x Boss Rush, i know that it’s possible that IMC might have missed it (or thought that it was fixed after the union of dungeons counter) but at the current state things are we can have some serious issues in the future since the episode that made me post that happened before reaching one month of Early Access.
Context
Today i was trying to get some levels at Historic Site Ruins (lvl 90) and i had to party at old fashion way since the Matchmaking System wasn’t working, both times the party leader was recruiting for Full Run and both times (with different parties) a higher level player got into the party and Boss Rushed solo, my party lost both runs because a single person (not the same) wanted to get a cube quickly.
At the first incident all party members got into de dungeon and the 5th layer (i’ll use that term) said he was going to head the boss by himself, he beat it and got my party rewards while we were killing monsters, four players (including myself) had their runs wasted with no EXP, cubes or silver because of a single player.
The second incident was a little different, once the leader got the last member we got in the dungeon and the last member left after one or two minutes, then the leader got out to recruit another one which was higher level. Again the 5th player went straight to the boss and i asked the leader to kick him so we could recruit another one but the thing is… once our new party member got in the leader was stuck outside since the 5th player was still inside even expelled from the party and again he took all dungeon rewards to himself.
tl:dr
If you get stuck in a dungeon for a full run with a single player that wants to boss rush you’ll loss your run.
Problems
My first concerning is about exploits and scams, if you use the Matchmaking System you’ll be stuck with people you don’t know and be forced to waste your run without getting any EXP, if you recruit players you can be tricked by a toxic player once the whole party is inside (switching characters)
The second or minor problem is about gear/recipe farming at dungeons (the only reason people do boss rush), looking at an economic perspective is quite lame that you can easily (you just have to try untill you get what you want) go straight to the boss twice and get a cube in less than 5 minutes, which implies in a meaningless rarity of dungeon rewards since eventually anyone can have it without effort, using Arde Dagger (where all begins) as example - the ones that needs it will get it “for free” and the ones that don’t need won’t get a good deal since anyone have one.
Suggestions
Level Restriction - One of the easiests (and most punitive) way to solve these problems is with a maximum level limit, once your level is high enough to use the next dungeon you won’t be able to use the previous ones, this is quite extreme and i don’t think is the best way to deal with it but it would solve both problems.
Spawning Boss - This one can work with three different settings
• Use the same mechanism used in Catacombs Underground Dungeon (lvl 200) where you can’t fight the boss until you clear the whole map (still, this one can be skipped…) leading to a extensive run even for players that want to get loot - only determinated players will try looting under these conditions.
• Get a lock that requires all party members to be together at the boss room to spawn it, this way you can’t fight the boss without your party consent (adjusted to each ‘party size’/‘players inside the dungeon’) - this setting will only protect players from being forced or tricked to rush.
• Get a spawn timer to prevent fast runs, after X minutes the boss (or bosses) will spawn and a player can beat it or the party as whole, this setting can even lock the boss room as an extra - it’s the least efficient of all three but it can be implemented really quickly.
If you agree with some points of this thread please share with friends (i wish this could reach IMC staff to… who knows…) and also let your comments/suggestions as well, i hope we can make it better/less exploitable so we can enjoy it.
