Insight on Falconeer

If I may ask, since Falconer isn’t discussed too often, I’d like to ask a few questions from those who have more insight on Archer builds.

  • Falconer seems to be both a utilized attack and utility class. What are perks to it, for those who’ve made one aside from having a pet Bird and having the ability to fly over mobs?

  • How well off are Falconer builds to other Archer builds? They seem to be friendlier to parties and people who appreciate their AoE.

  • What are some combinations Falconer can mesh with? I’ve been thinking about Archer > Ranger > Ranger > Wugushi > Wugushi > Falconeer for strong boss DPS and a little of support & AoE, but I’d like to see if there are any other builds for them.

I don’t think anyone around here is discussing archer builds, nope. Sorry, class got old and boring. It’s all about demon lords now. :mushroom:

I mean, it’s never a bad thing to experiment, but when I searched and found the last actual discussion (aside from before this post) Was months ago…yeah. Seems the only real discussion you’ll find for Archer would be Schwar or Rogue, or a cheesy Wugushi. :c

Falconer has 1 major benefit I see, having a source of damage going out while you are doing other sources of damage.

I don’t know of a super strong synergy with another class, but most if not all should synergize at least positively.

The downfall here is simply not going 1 rank into another class, especially if that 1 rank would provide 5 more skill points into your main spam skill with 0 cd or your main skill for damage.

For me falconer seems lackluster, clunky, a big SP drain and is ineffective. I might be wrong, I didn’t play the game yet so time will tell.

I find that if your build has no real standout added benefit by picking up another class somewhere in it, falconer can be that 1 rank wonder due to having the falcon attack while you are doing your own things. But due to variety found within the class system with so many classes and multiple circles per class, this situation might be unlikely unless you prefer flavor.

My build? I didn’t provide him one.

reread what he said, laj

I’m confused :mushroom:

he isn’t talking about your specific build, he’s talking generally “if ones build has no real standout benefit added…”

Well, think about it this way. If a falconer lowers aoe resist, that means that a single target attack becomes an AoE. Therefore the normal falcon attacks are going to hit many enemies on top of which your hits will be aoe.

At least thats what I deduce from looking at hanging know( I think? ) that the same attribute.

It has a lot of applications if thats how it works.

Well, this is hangmans knots attribute http://www.tosbase.com/database/attributes/205005/

Its basically circling and from a vid I saw - it makes it so your single target becomes aoe. Now couple that with the backstab video where the guy dealt 76k damage and you’ll get my idea ^^ hell, no need to go that far. AoE multishot? I think you catch my drift right? ^^

Disclaimer: my theory is so far fetched it probably has no connection to reality, tests needed

Circling reduces their resistance against splash damage, which should work the same as your own aoe defense stat

As others say one of the problem of falconner, amd in facr for most rank 6 classes, is that you get to know just one circlevagainst getting a rank 4 third circle or rank 5 second one. From what i can see on falconner they should get awesome skills on their next circles but right now is pretty meh.

Falconer looks decent on paper because two of it’s skill are fire and forget which means it could go in any build if you wished so.
And at the same time it looks terrible because most of their skills have long cd which doesn’t seems to be justified by what they actually do and the falcon itself doesn’t do anything outside of those skills.

My mention of build was just OP’s mention of class to class build path.

pururu’s mention of lack of falcon activity outside of skills does make me rethink this class’s usefulness so far.

BUT, we do need to remember, if classes go 10 ranks, we will eventually see a circle 2 and 3 of falconer.

Thats the part that confused me.

Anyhow, I’m sure the class will get really juicy later on - it will be fighting to be picked against a cannoneer and a musketeer it seems so it will have to show something good or it will be forever forgotten.

Anyone done some more testing or have more insight in the matter now?
