Inquiry about weekly patches&updates

Hi,

I want to understand how patches are managed between all regions Tos is published on ( Korea,China?, Japan ?, Sea , Eu, Na…).

For example , In Korea, TOS is published by Nexon. Does that mean that Nexon develops and updates the client & the servers themselves? Or is IMC providing the updates, the fixes and the patches to Nexon.

Because if it is IMC that does this job, I don’t know why we don’t benefit from the same patches in kTOS?

I’ve looked into todays patches (03/05/2016) and I appreciate IMCs effort in fixing some issues on this patch but honestly lot of things are lacking compared to korean patches found here : http://pastebin.com/u/sunhwapark

because you know, nothing that could need translating from korean or anything.

nothing that might take higher priority, like server stability.

nothing with a more immediate need, like server transfers for those that bothered to apply in time.

?
What is the relation between translation and server transfers. People in this forum keep mixing the network team, the communication team, the gameplay development team etc…
Each person in the staff is assigned to one job.(sometimes 2)
The translator does his translation job.
The network/system administrator works on server stability.
The gameplay developer works on enhancing the gameplay.
The gameplay tester/debugger work on reporting and fixing gameplay related issues.
I don’t have full knowledge on every department that exists in a game company but I’m sure one issue doesn’t stop the company from working on other issues…

Also, I don’t know if you work on computer systems & software (I do) but It is not a difficult task to take something from another server and implement it in a new one, especially if the infrastructure is the same.
The only part that is different now between the patches is, as you said, the language. And I’m sure the translation team doesn’t work on server stability and transfers =D.

They need to hire 1 more of everything.

you keep assuming the company is large enough that it actually has all of these things.

my understanding is that it’s much closer to “the ToS team” which is a handful of people who simply do everything related to the game. if you’ve got specific info that says differently, feel free to link it… but every indicator so far is that IMC is a rather small company.

Nexon doesn’t create the content, IMC does. Nexon is just publishing the MMO. For iToS IMC also decided to be the publisher as well as the developer, perhaps because of Steam.

That means they can easily migrate the patches from ktos to itos right?

Once localization is done, yes.

I think they said that the there will be differences between the korean and the international version.
yeah, they do have more stuff going for them but I guess in our case IMC is doing transfer, fighting bots and hopefully focusing on optimization for now.
After that hopefully they’ll add 5v5 and events for us as well.
