Gotta believeeeeeeeeeeeeee, RO had some pretty bad optimization during the beginning of its days, WoE was unplayable competitively as if they didnt want to lag they had to turn of ALL effects (Meaning you couldn’t see AoE’s) but that meant not knowing what skills was flying about. It only became viable as a competitive PvP game when RCX or custom modification to the effects files was available.
never played GE, heard it was pretty bad tho xD
I really think it’s fine to compare games people do it all the time and it’s not a problem however you shouldn’t compare something and aspect it to change the game your are playing. It would be like me comparing Tree of Savior to Ragnarok Online and saying well Tree of Savior has this how come Ragnarok doesn’t.
All games have it’s own methods of and systems which make the games so much different then other games even when the games it self are squeals and while you can compare it to a game in the past it doesn’t always mean the future game will be the same or share the same ideas and systems such as Ragnarok Online and Ragnarok Online 2.
You also need to let a game grow as over time it will change with feedback Guild Wars 2 has even changed a lot over the years due to such feedback from the players which isn’t bad but you shouldn’t aspect things to change right away.
This game also has a lot of Granado Espada into it.
Why do people keep comparing Bossing on ToS to MVPing on RO.
Its not even apples and oranges, its more like apples and a big ass truck.
RO bosses, atleast the high tier ones need a well organized party to take down, if someone tries to KS you just teleport off, let them die a few times in vain and come back and finish the job. You can not just zerg these bosses or DPS burn them. They require strategy although some easier then others.
ToS Bosses are just zerg food. They require no set up, no organiztion, you dont even need a tank. Its just a DPS race.
So yeah sorry I dont understand why people are comparing the 2 and why people think that zerg bosses only rewarding top DPS is the proper course of action. ATM these bosses are just sponges that reward the highest geared player and take into no account skill.
edit: highest geared, lowest ping, highest fps*
Yeah. Some of the classes and skills are inspired by the stances in GE.
Or~ Maybe balance classes so other classes except meta has a chance ? I think the system is fine but they NEED to balance classes. atm its not about being hardcore or not, its about are u a Fletcher or not lol.
It’s not a bad game. But the decisions made by imc and hosting company killed the game. GE is very unfriendly towards free players, basically when I played, lv100 was the end of the road for free players unless u pay to promote your chars. Also, new content/characters/stances are constantly locked behind paywalls and high ar/dr gear requirements to clear new areas.
I was hoping for something a little bit more " in-depth", but I do agree a lot with your post and also like it. I think something really more " in-depth" would be interesting, comparing things such as atk spd. There are huge differences in that and mostly all other formulas that eventually could be put on some epic post, hahaha.
I would add that I do miss a lot the WoE feeling and experience. That makes me want this game to suceed a lot, because with this kind of class system it has even a lot more potential than RO had.
Just a little bit o faith. Still waiting on IMC to show it´s true face. xD
was going to write about the same stuff lol. I think OP is comprehensive enough, but not as detailed as I’d hope, also, there’s no comparison on the dissimilarities of the game (or why the differences are significant).
I also agree about the boss battles, mostly a dps race, some classes can simply burn the boss down, unlike the MVPs in RO where few can be soloed, and always take a certain build, equipment, and skill rotation to perfect.
to TS, what’s your feedback on the gear? I miss how in RO you’d need to keep a set for certain elements, like a fireproof gear edit: against runeknights (runekeepers are from another game ugh), gosh I miss WoE even if I generally avoid PvPs nowadays
Artwork, Scenery and theme is much more similar to: Final Fantasy Tactics
World Map and grinding spots much more similar to: Secrets of Solstice
Stats, Skills, Characters, Base Level, and Job Class Level are much more similar to: Ragnarok Online
I didn’t want to start comparing stats because for the players who didn’t play RO, they would lose interest immediately if we start talking about 150 dex insta cast, 190 max adsp, after cast delay, animation delay zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz xD
193 ASPD after renewal was sluuuuurrrr.
I rather miss the speed of GX, and it’s a little hard to explain if you haven’t played a 193 ASPD char from RO, but it was just faster than anything here. Speed and assassin classes are what I look for in MMOs, but I think Corsair/Rogue/Scout makes up for the lack of Assassin branch nicely.
Other than that, my only real complaint is Swordsman needs a little more balancing. We all know why, there’s 100’s of threads now, so I won’t go into that.
ToS is a great successor to RO. I just hope it will be improved more over time and be as successful. I think a lot of people forget it’s pretty much brand new, lots of things to come.
agreed, ToS has lots of room to grow, people just want the finished game right here and now, some games took 5 years ++ to become great, ToS hasn’t been out for very long and they are probably focusing their attention on the server issues.
And Final Fantasy XI took 14 years to get its final / ultimate patch.
OP totally forgot about RO emoticon
like this one
haha yeah they are amazing xD
This is why I never join any world boss fight when someone ask for help on shout channel. It look like giant baits from hardcore raid parties, if you are not top dps, you get nothing no matter how hard you try.
RO emotes are so simple but cute. Wish they’d have made ToS emotes a bit more simplistic.
bossing is a group effort, not just pure DPS as top 6 dps will get a cube for their party. If you really want to get a cube you need to have a team of 4 supports and 1 dps.
Some example is PD/Elementalist-Warlock/Chrono/ + 2 other supports i.e. thama
Fletcher/Linker3/PD/Chrono/Thama
People keep complaining about how “level 280s” are stealing all the cubes as they deal sooo much more damage than a 250. Lets be honest, its more to do with your gear and party set up / min-maxing build.
I see many groups full of 230s consistantly getting cubes due to their set up. (and if you can get to 230 (Rank 7) you shouldn’t be trying to contest world bosses anyway).
PS. This isnt like an attack at you or anything, im just saying in general, most of the threads complaining about not being able to get a cube are probably from lower level players with non bossing builds.
