IMC, there's a simple solution for long queues

TL;DR: IMC, DC AFK’ers as NCSoft did with Blade and Soul.

Hello, guys.

Recently I’ve been playing Blade and Soul, and as some of you guys may know, BnS experienced a lot of TOS problems on release, one of them been the queue issues.

Some context: Blade and Soul is a game developed by NCSoft, and its launch on South Korea happened on 2012. Four years later, NCSoft decided to bring it to the US, and on January 19, 2016, BnS finally arrived on the Western territories.

Well, some of us bought Early Access, and when it turned F2P it was a disaster. Queues would go over 4000, and queue times would go from 2 to 6 hours. There were other issues, but that’s not here to discuss.

So, the community came with a simple solution: why not DC the AFK’ers after say, 20 minutes of not moving?

Well, after a 30-minute maintenance, NCSoft ended the problem with queues. Hurray!

Just wanted to share this experience as a suggestion to an annoying problem we’ve been facing. IMC, DC the AFK’ers.

atm, you just need to change map to be disconnected

I commend you for your suggestion for a quick fix.

However! IMC can’t do this. The game has a couple of classes that can open up shops to sell buffs/repairs/etc while they’re being AFK.

This never happened. Not only did you actually have to log off for this patch to kick in, It did nothing to stop the queue times. People paid $5 just so they could jump the line and it stayed like this for over a week till the hype died down.

IMC has a different set of problems and its mainly with SEA/SA

Am I the only one that already gets logged out when they go afk?

Seems to happen to me too. I also get completely disconnected back to the server select screen if I just sit in my lodge.

Yeah, I was thinking that maybe those “stores” are classified as something different than an AFK character since you can “logout” your character and leave the store open and login on another character of the same team and the store will remain there.

Not saying it 100% solved the issue, but I remember as it was yesterday that the queues’ size reduced dramatically (and I finally could play).

But one thing I should point out is that BnS was released 4 years ago and NCSoft wasn’t prepared for the Western release too, just like IMC. Btw, they released BnS on Russia recently and they were having the exact same issues. So I thought it maybe was nice to suggest something that worked on other games, since its a mechanic players may be more used to.

Yup, I’m playing on SA right now and we are having a LOT of connection issues. Believe me, I know.

Last night I stayed AFK for about 2 hours and didn’t DC.
