"IMC theory, or how not to run an MMO"

You know, people loving the game are being hurt by the game being handled so bad. That is why people leave, mostly.

I guess ANYONE here would agree with me that IMC does TERRIBLE job running this game, eh?

So basically those who have come to love this pretty-pretty world are being lead to realization, patch after patch, that it is being run by complete imbeciles who can’t even get simpliest (TBL times, rly, can’t they “+” and “-”??) of things right. And they do it SO OFTEN, that each patch there are more and more people who are completely discouraged. They just realize that with the management like that, this game really has no future.

And then there is lack of QA, lack of support, lack of community management, lack of any apprehensible SLAs on bug fixes (char still stutters after the very first ktos->itos patch, for example, and THATS ACTUALLY A MAJOR, REALLY GAMEBREAKING BUG, YOU IDIOTS AT IMC), and yay, forgot an elefant in the room, the FPS issue, the MARKET, the “BOSSES” and etc and etc.

It’s like they are deliberately trying to get people off their back, you know? To just, tell people - hey, please leave, this game is not worth your effort. We are not even trying:

Our team is too small to support a game like this. We have no money, because we even failed monetization - market is sooooo bad that players that have TP aren’t even motivated to buy a lot, unless they are heavily alting, which is actually no fun at all as the game is completely linear, you never really chose the route to 280. We are not even paying our staff enough to actually take their time with forum and our community management either is failing bad to deliver information to us, or we are deliberately don’t give a ■■■■ about what he says. That’s why most active times are during maintenance - it seems like most of the posts by the management are made during this time. That’s actually the only time the staff seem to even have working hours inside or outside a forum.

Then we made bossers leave. And those are probably donaters so we lost even more money. Then we gave PvP players, whom we didn’t even consider any considerable part of playerbase for a loooooooong time, some hope, but with mashed-up times that we could’ve fixed on day 0, but it took us a month and still counting, and we EVEN MADE TIME SITUATION WORSE FOR FEDIMIAN, SUCH GENIUSES. And we also are giving a very-very-very small guilds on fidimian enough TP to not even ever want to invest in this game any more. BECAUSE NO ONE IS PLAYING.

So, to sum up.

Not even the most deranged individual could’ve done all that to a single game. I believe they are up for a change in management, or this whole project, product, however they call it internally, will end it’s life in a trashbin, because noone would play it.

Oh, they can paint pictures and write music, create eye-candy that will wither soon - remember that guy and that thread long ago? How was it called?

And in fact, where are they even going to get playerbase now, huh? They’ve already released, but there is no marketing, but is there even supposed to be a marketing while STEAM RATINGS BEING SOOOOOOOOOO LOW. 59% overall, 47% recent. That is trashbin level, sorry.

Are you guys deliberately making your game die, or are you really that catastrophically stupid?

You are runing the game I love. You are killing it.

Unless you take a SERIOUS step, go through a SERIOUS change in a way you run this game, IN PEOPLE WHO MAKE THOSE QUESTIONABLE DECISIONS AND PEOPLE WHO FAIL AT SIMPLIEST OF THINGS, this game has no future.

And I would, right now, wish you one thing. If this game ends up in trash, I wish each one of you follows it.

Yes, you @staff and @moderators. And I’m not even sure those group notifications work (knowing how “well” you code things). Absolutely pathetic.

Do you honestly believe we can take it any more?

Hmmm, that’s strange. Usually these type of threads are in General Discussion.

I guess OP just wanted a place to vent his frustrations. Everything he’s said is the sad truth though.

If not for TBL, I wouldn’t have returned to this game, and now they seemed to have ■■■■■■ it up for EU folks.

While enjoying TBL, I guess I’m just waiting for that one major f*ck-up IMC would commit that will slap me in the face telling me to quit and uninstall the game.

That, or if IMC miraculously bring the game to its hyped glory.

In fact, thats the reason why Julie quitted. She cared too much for us and the game - way more than IMC is able to.

I’d have been frustrated by that as well.

Sorry, there is no such thing as miracles. People either work on the product or don’t. Maybe they badly lack money, but again, that’s very much their fault, if that is, indeed, true.

I’d even say that monetization gone wrong is a nemesis of A LOT of f2p mmos, making them into a swamp really. Look at Royal Quest, for once.

To not know this and develop an MMO in 2015+ is… well.

And the lack of resets + countless noobtraps. That’s a heavy average-decreaser.

My thanks to you, OP.
It’s because of people like you writing texts filled with anger and frustration like that that I still come to this forum from time to time to check out the hilarious literature.

I couldn’t hope for any more amusing posts than such as these.
Having a good time has never been as easy as opening your browser, heading to this site and laughing out loud as far as the lungs are playing along. The tears are tasty.

Truly, my thanks.

Yeah, at this point, I am pretty sure they are just trying to reduce the players to such a low number to where they can cut their losses and close the game. Personally, I think IMC suffered a huge loss financially because of ToS, money isn’t rolling in because 90% of their playerbase left in the first 6 months. Thus, again, their plan of action is to reduce playerbase to 1k on all servers at peak hours, then close the game. GG

Wish a miracle to come, for IMC staff or even one of the management peeps to read this. And yeah All hail Kappa & Kepweng!!

I actually believe hate and prejudices are useful in MMO-environment.
Making you want to destroy opponent actually makes you destroy opponent sometimes, don’t u think?

I’ve enjoyed WoE-threads in pirate RO-servers, where literally 0% cared and people were doing war both in-topic (there was one non-moderated topic on forum, only one) and outside. And posted videos of their wins commented with insults.

By the way, with community management and moderation being non-existend most of the time, who’s to even stop me? See? It’s not like I declared war on humanity tho, haha xD

It’s just that there is a long list of persons I don’t like.

This post was flagged by the community and is temporarily hidden.

main developers focus on kTOS and this is what i thought about iTOS handlers when IMC recruits them to manage this server.

Can we make a poll like staff john did?

I did write there in english and I did use a phone to call their office (switched off, probably perm).

I do think IMC is trying to keep enough player base to milk the TP shop just long enough for them to decide whether or not they want to kill iTOS. Maybe there’s enough hard core players spending hundreds on their game each month and that’s enough incentive to keep itos alive?

Overall IMC is not running the game well…and that’s an understatement ;D

It seems that most people didn’t know this poll

Here is my version poll :

Is IMC doing a good job moderating ToS forum?

  • Yes, plz be the godfather of my first born child
  • Kind of, but plz do your job better. There will be no third chance happening
  • NO!! DO YOU EVEN TRY???!!!

Attention people

I do highly respect staff_john and treat him as a hero BUT staff_john ain’t a superhero. What the fk is IMC thinking??!! Is staff_john the only forum moderator or are others playing vigilante here? I did do my research on every staff and most they did are some robot replies to bot or bug reports. Do IMC even communicate with player base or are loyal players opinions falling to deaf ears?
(just venting my frustration :confounded:)

Either it’s community manager’s failure or not is up to them to figure out. There is no sure way to determine if he is just being ignored by higher-ups or if he actually fails to translate important information in time.

And yet again, I doubt the community manager failed EU timings. It’s the dev team or a gamedesigner who set a task to the dev team.

So, I actually believe the community manager is not to blame, but, again, there is no way to prove it.

Unless he appears in person and tells me he does a hell of a job. But he wouldn’t for obvious reasons.

Sooo…

PS. One thing community manager surely fails in tho - lack of feedback. You should constantly be reassuring people - and you don’t and that increases the number of ppl who leave the game. There were a lot of situations when silence was surely harmful for everyone - but you kept your damn silence and took your damn time.
