The reason I dislike this isnât because of how itâs âPay to Winâ, as the reason why people are saying that is that youâre essentially buying time out of a time waster, putting you generally ahead much further than you should be. P2W varies depending on how timid the person is in favor/against microtransactions, but generally P2W is at itâs extreme:
- Items/Features you can buy that will put you at an advantage over others who cannot close the gap to said advantage.
And also technically in that regard youâd be buying Team Levels, but letâs forget about that for now.
The reason I dislike this is because itâs a cash grab. Moreso than any $20 hairstyle. It shows that they donât care about the game, they care more about how theyâre willing to bait people into buying into it. Rerolling could easily be remedied with some sweat, revamping, and reconditioning of early areas for the sake of repetition. Imo, this is one of the worst ways of catching whales or big spenders because then the game stops becoming a game. Itâll become McDonalds, a franchise running on the suffering of others and their stomachs.
And it wouldnât stop there either. Picture, as far as the eye could see: Attribute packs that give you free attribute levels on skill command, Enchant Scrolls that have definite locked grids, channels you could only access if you have paid up, broken weapons or armor one could obtain from packs only; and it could continue easily.
Iâd rather just bark up IMCâs tree and eventually nag them to making the early game actually grindable in certain maps so they could be abused by Team Level and Tomes to actually get somewhere quick.
token is p2w already
pet buff is p2w already
skill/stat reset is p2w already
hook64/bot is p2w already
exp tome is p2w already
char slot/team level is p2w already
why lv 300 we all should ask for lv 600 instead
imagine lv 600 runing around in lv 330 map feel like GOD right?
if they dont give us lv 600 pack lets get torch and fork and a ticket to korea for burning IMC office
lv300 booster coz upcoming rank8 , game content up to lv330.
sure, lv600 booster is welcomed, when game content is up to that
i know about upcoming lv 330
but i dont want just lv 300, why ? because i can pay , you dont know my father is donald trump ? if u dont beilive i can slap ur face with stack of dollar, if posible i want lv 9999 exp boster
ooo⌠let s ask them lv 1 million instead
The notion that IMC wouldnât set boundaries is just wrong. Itâs illogical to think that because if they were to release a lvl 300 character means they would charge customers for private channels, broken weapons, attribute packs that cost in-game-currency to lvl up? Itâs absurd, really. Again, A maxed full lvlâd character is literally nothing in comparison to what you are suggesting would follow if such a character-package were released. A maxed out lvlâd character is nothing without the millions of silver invested in attributes or equipment.
This leads me to,
Here is the contradiction. In your previous statement you said âbuying time out of a time waster,â causes a disadvantage. But, now here you are promoting the abuse of Team Level and Tomes during grind sessions in order âget somewhere quick.â The people who cannot afford tomes or cannot play enough to even do the events to obtain tomes have been, by your logic, put at a massive disadvantage according to your proposal.
This is exactly why itâs a problem.
Actually, besides just the general opinion stuff like this is lazy, stupid, and reflects a mindset that in general annoys the hell out of meâI donât want to deal with the dumbasses who havenât learned their class when I go into group content.
This is how I ilook at it people who want this kind of content:
If this was a game where it was just you and your mates, who cares? I mean really, knock yourself out with every kind of exploit/hack/whatever you can with YOUR copy. But no, I (and other players) have to deal with you.
Itâs the same kind of lazy that leads to bots and hacking.
If youâre too lazy to spend the time leveling, donât play it. Just donât. There are exp boosts, they hand em out for free all the time, for casual players. Thereâs missions, thereâs dungeons, thereâs more quests than you need to level at any given time.
Itâs not about the money. Itâs about this kind of individualâs attitude and I donât want it in my game.
Iâm already uncomfortable with gacha boxes. NO ONE LIKES THOSE. Those are already a red flag. I do not want a freakin anvil for 3$. NO. FFS. I hope they let nexon have their stupid boxes and keep them THERE. Or at least take out everything that isnât worth the cost of the boxes.
@OP Suck it up and level.
If only everyone was as dedicated as youâŚwe wouldnât be stuck in Tree of bots and RMT.
And gacha boxes? As if we need any more RNG in this gameâŚCracking open a few cubes a day and getting salt in my eyes hurts enough already.
u can pump monie for costume
let me pump monie for level
not like my instant level gonna make ur dress less pretty
win win~
It has nothing to do with my costume. It has to deal with not wanting to have to play with people who are too lazy to want to actually level and learn their class. No better than someone who bots to max level in my opinion.
good, coz its only your opinion
what would IMC choose over, cold hard cash or Rabbitâs opinion ?
I WANT MY LV300 BOOSTER!
YOU ALREADY MAKING CLASS/STAT/SKILL RESET!
NOW GIVE ME LEVEL BOOSTER!
huehuehue
- Because instead of some jackass forum troll, Iâm an actual paying player.
- Because Iâm a paying player who regularly dumps a good chunk of cash into the game, and from your viewpoint money = I should be listened to.
- Because I bet you would vote for Trump.
- Because I reflect the opinions of other paying players.
- Because I donât sound like an idiot.
- Because Iâm part of the main demographic for this game.
- Because itâs raining outside.
- Because yourâe a freaking tool.
- Because I like aardvarks.
- Because I can spell aardvarks without needing to look it up and thusly obviously have far superior mental skills (sarcasm, seriously).
- Because itâs important to provide counter arguments to steaming, smelly, sordid piles of stupid.
If you want to throw money at the game and level faster they already made easy mode with the shiny, new 8x tomes recipe. If thatâs not fast enough for you, you should probably find a more productive way to waste you time than a game thatâs meant, OBVIOUSLY meant, to be about spending time on making your character unique and putting effort into said character.
Seriously, this thread is obvious bait but Iâve actually seen this suggested a few other times.
reply u later, doing dungeon with my new costumeâŚ

As if there is any correlation to what I have proposed to âevery kind of exploit/hack/whatever.â
You continue to speak of laziness, which leads me to your next quote,
There are billions of people who donât have the luxury you have, which is the luxury of being able to sit on your fat-ass all day everyday while investing hours and hours into video games. I myself work 7 days a week building a business and living a life outside of a video game.
You are an ignoramous.
Your game? How possessive. This alone paints a vivid picture of your character.
Who has mentioned anything about an anvil for $3.00? Huh?
And so itâs fair to voice your opinion, however, to insinuate from assumptions that you have made is pure stupidity.
Completely irrelevant. Another attack on someones character from an assumption made from an ignoramous. Having a favored candidate in the United States Presidential elections has absolutely nothing to do with the topic being discussed in this thread.
Again, you are an ignoramous
As seen from above, itâs clear you are not credible nor legitimate.
No, no. You DO sound like an idiot.
Again, you are an ignoramous.
And which demographic are you part of? The United States? Where IMC holds prices increasingly high? This doesnât help your argument. If anything, because you live in the U.S, IMC would be in favor of releasing a maxed-out-naked character in return receiving substantial amounts of USD.
Again, you are an ignoramous.
This is the problem right here. There so many people who play ToS as entertainment. Itâs fun, it is relaxing, it is a social game to a certain extent and people enjoy investing their valuable time for these qualities that ToS offers. They donât see it as a waste of time. However, there are people like yourself who do not value time at all and consider it a âwaste of timeâ to play ToS. Moreover, if you valued time, perhaps you would realize that you would find that itâs absurd to spend 400+ hours in developing a character. But, you donât. You have time to spend because you have that luxury, for now. Most people donât, which is why this is a popular topic among the ToS community.
This is not a bait, it is a serious suggestion. There is absolutely nothing wrong with IMC releasing a maxed out character for a substantial amount of TP. I would say 100 USD a package that grants a maxed out character. (this wouldnt even be released until content is completed, however, a lvl 330 character now will still sell).
All in all, after going through your comments thoroughly Iâve come to a conclusion about what youâve said.
You said it better than I could,
I donât like to deal with dumbasses like yourself either, but I created a thread and so I am forced to respond to such deplorable behavior.
Again, people reading, I donât believe that IMC releasing a lvl 330 character, naked, would be at all a pay-to-win cash grab. The hours spent on obtaining silver for attributes/gears far surpasses the hours spent on creating the character. This is just for the average player who does not have the luxury of time in his or herâs hands.

Let me rephrase since apparently it was difficult to understand: when someone is paying for an advantageâand this is an advantage of time and effort, it impacts other playerâs experiences. That was mostly said in response to chiliâs post, but since you commentedâŚ
There are other games who have this kind of service, such as World of Warcraft, and I understand where the mentality of âwell it works for themâ can be argued. For a niche game like Tree of Savior, and especially only a few months in, this sort of thing could be highly damaging to the established player base for several reasons. Iâve already stated the most obvious: it is lazy gaming.
There are already a multitude of tools that you can use to level fast. Itâs not difficult and there is very little grind until higher levels.
While I appreciate your assumption that I live a life of leisure, I do not. Iâm a linguist. Iâm disabled and an outspoken activist for body positivism for all individuals which has included some modeling. Iâm a gym fanatic! Absolutely love lifting weights as much as my disabilities allow. Iâm an author (published and award winning, since youâre wanting to compare credentials apparently). I have a Masterâs Degree English and Applied Linguistics and have worked with world renowned linguists both in the USA and abroad.
You also spelled ignoramus wrong. You did so repeatedly.
Yes. MY game. My gaming experience. The game that I experience, which is MY game. Iâm so sorry that the obvious non-literal implications/interpretation of this were taken literally by your magnanimous self. If you couldnât tell, that was sarcasm.
Who has mentioned anything about an anvil for $3.00? Huh?
It was just added in kToS, though the price is approximate. They added the oh so beloved gacha boxes, which include an anvil if I remember correctly and are around $3.00. Granted I could be wrong about the content of the boxes.
Those are something that I, and several other players, are concerned about as a trend. Which other players? My guild members, some other forum users in past and present threads have all expressed dislike of such items in the cash shop.
I apologize if you thought that was directed at you and not kinwhatshisname that I was directly responding to. Iâm being quite sincere on that on as itâs about the worst insult to character I (personally) think you can give someone at the moment.
Again, you spelled that word wrong. Seriously how can you not just right click and select the proper spelling if you are going to try to use that kind of pedantic insult?
Considering you have no more or less credentials than I do, you argument here kind of falls flat. The only âcredentialsâ that someone needs to make a statement such as I did are:
A) Time and money spent on the game.
B) Other people who agree with them.
C) The ability to realize that this again was directed at a completely different forum user and the whole thing was rather tongue in cheek and obviously inflated because of said individual.
Oh! Speaking of demographicsâjust in case A from above didnât make it clear what I meant, people who spend time playing the game.
Admittedly this was a generalized statement about the vocal component of forum users who just like to hue it up on the forums for whatever reason but do not play the game any more. There are quite a few. I thought that was easily inferred but thatâs what I get for assuming most forum users have above average intelligence. My bad.
You donât know how and where I spend my time. Iâm not a hardcore player anymore. I actually have a lot on my plate. Lots of other users do. The most difficult thing about you character is building it. I understand that rerolling is frustrating after the first few times. However, if youâve spent more than a weekend or two playing the game for a few hours you get a general feel for the game and how it works. Additionally there are plenty of guides and other resources to help when you run into a wall. This is an entirely different discussion though. My issue is with the mentality of âlet me buy itâ when it comes to a game. Iâve made that pretty apparent and exactly WHY I feel so. Itâs my opinion. I do apologize since it apparently got your panties/boxers/manties in a bunch though.
I do think itâs stupid. Iâm not going to apologize for it. Iâd say 90% of what I said wasnât even directed at you though. I think one line was something like @OP suck it up and level.
You have 8x experience tomes. The most recent kToS update completely changed the way that experience is calculated and is likely to be patched in with the main patch for rank 8 when we get it (or soon after⌠hopefully. Itâs hard to tell with IMC).
I canât speak for everyone on this, itâs my opinion and thatâs why I prefaced the majority of what I said with statements such as âI/My/MEâ. I donât expect everyone to agree with me either. Iâm vocal. Iâm outright rude. I have every right to be, just as you have every right to be offended by what I said in my previous posts.
I stand by my previous statement: I believe this kind of content is reflective of a lazy approach to gaming.
And, in the vein of lazy, I am nearly 99% certain that itâs been stated in developer interviews that this is exactly the kind of thing they were wanting to avoid with tree of savior. This game was meant to be more nostalgic and supposedly going to avoid P2W features.
I understand that you donât see why this would be damaging, youâve made it clear that you just look at it as efficient. I get that. I still disagree with you and kinyau87 who I was responding to in the first place outside of agreeing with chili. I also feel that this sort of feature completely changes the feel and overall attitude of the playerbase and developers when itâs implemented in a game.
Just to be clear, because I have created this thread I feel obligated to defend other forum users from hostile users like yourself at anytime. You continue to question why I responded to your dialogue with the other member, it should be crystal clear that when I see hostility in a thread I have created that I have every right but more so an obligation to interrupt such behavior.
This is absurd and you know it. ToS is not your game. Dialogue that engages in possessive language is not a pragmatic approach discussion. You should know this with that boisterous comment you have made in regards to your credentials.
Another ignorant comment. Itâs evident we are not treated the same at kToS being that we donât receive half of the benefits. Again,. someone so devoted to ToS should know this.
Let me reiterate that these players are the players that are at an advantage, clearly. A player that plays maybe 3-5 hours a week will have no chance at competing with individuals that play 5-12+ hours a day. Moreover, because of this fact, the player who were to purchase this character-boost-package would remain with the disadvantage. My proposal would offer the players who love ToS just as much but have little to no time to play it an opportunity to be part of the end-game community, or rather, the average playerbase. Granted, they would struggle to obtain silver/items/attribute levels however my proposal would offer them the ability to transfer their time and energy into growing their character strength, as opposed to quest grinding/lvling, which to be honest, is incredibly boring. There is a reason the game went from 100k to 8k playing. Which isnât entirely due to optimization.
This argument is futile as the very least. A player investing USD to obtain a naked character is clearly devoted to spending time building that character whether it be leveling up attributes, obtaining E.T gear sets, or refining strong equips. Logically, they wouldnât buy the character to simply gaze at it and then log off. Although, I am sure there are a few players like that.
When the player who spends his time leveling his character while strengthening it sees that he is still stronger by a large degree, he will care less. In fact, Iâm sure such person would feel more accomplished knowing he can beat the guy who purchased a boosted character. Because again, leveling your character is maybe 10% of the potential the character has to being strong. One needs equipment, rare cards, but most importantly one needs attributes to be level 75+ to be considered âstrongâ or âoverpowered.â Take note that silver is what is required for attributes, I canât tell if you know this or not. Acquiring large amounts of silver is incredibly difficult for even the top tier gamers.
Yes, efficiency that allows ToS to produce more money while also growing the community. Even if it is a 1,000 playerbase growth. This proposal has the potential to open up the market, if you will, to the ToSterâs who have quit already.
You have yet to give an argument on how this would hurt the gameâs population. Youâve implied that people would be offended to a certain extent, but not sure how or why.

This is all I see or hear.
I tried being polite and actually explaining what I was trying to say to you but apparently most of it went over your head. Itâs really not worth it to me to invest in arguing with someone when theyâre unwilling to even consider the opposing view. Same could be said of my stance, to be fair. Though I certainly wasnât trying to make you feel attacked, and as I said before Iâm sorry if thatâs how you feel.
Luckily, unless IMC completely changes itâs overall ideology of the game this kind of thing wonât be implemented.
Well said.
Thank you for your contribution to this thread.
