I honestly could see them releasing major content updates like rank 8 or something like that at june 19th. They could be just making it 3 months because they want time to work on the game so everyone will stop complaining how unpolished the game is etc.
Anyways whatever they do a lot of people will be disappointed and angry about their decision. I personally don’t mind this at all.
Where are you from, can i ask? Point is not all countries have high level of life like USA or Europe did. At contry i live, for example, average pay is somthing about $350 for a month, and $50 is a considerable price. What you offer to do in that case? Get two jobs, or maybe three?
Anyway, i see that many complains now not because of that $50 but because of obt was announced, community was going crazy almost three weeks about that and now many people thinks that they was decieved because of that 3 month early access stuff. IMC made a mistake not because of that early access, but because they annonced it in such unapropriate (and kinda disrespectfull) manner. If they announce it like “early access going soon” wouldn’t be that broken hopes and hype train crashes.
Anyone who want to earn serious money.
You need some business lessons from a professional.
You said before you where homeless, you still got some old habits huh? Is all the examples you put up related to food?
You are comparing food with bytes?
@clebinho77
So…
The fact IMC treats its community like crap?
How much this hurts the MMO?
How generally bad of a business model this is?
p.s. Your logic is based on a weak basis.
I saved up 800USD for this.
Tell me how much hype I had for this.
I’ll tell you. It is now in negative values.
I am still hoping the plan changes, but if not… this isn’t worth my money.
Eh, it is a good business model for me. I would prefer this over everyone waiting until June.
Early Access works as long as the perks are worth the money. I planned to spend at least some money on in game currently so this is a win win for me.
Did you ever saw how community used to react against Gravity’s team for RO ?
Believe me, ToS Team should be proud to not be treated like slaves
I don’t say it’s " normal ", but damn, respect your community by not using this kind of business model and betraying them.
ToS already have bad success because of Nexon in Korea, knowing that, IMC (without Nexon) could change their way for international servers. With a great community you can overcome the bad past and have a great review on every video games & MMO websites. But now ? They will only have bad publicity around.
Why a founders pack (one of the reasons that the game wont be pay to win) can put your hype down?
I still very well hyped.
You have no clue how F2P monetization works. Since you like business plans, I will make this more clear to you. We’ll use that restaurant example.
IMC = Factory that produces food for restaurants.
Restaurant = Players that pay money in F2P games, including founder packs.
Customers = Free players.
Food = Currency, TP tokens, etc
IMC gives food to restaurants, they now have food for themselves and can sell that food to customers. Now you see where the majority of the food goes to? The customers.
In a more realistic way, TP tokens is the currency for ToS.
A paid player needs 1 per month. That paid player can sell it to a f2p player, so that paid player now needs to buy more than 1 tp token from IMC, therefore spending more money, all because there are free to pay players.
You play game or do business? That’s what their choice for the model, your choice is to pay for it or not.
I liked Gravity for the most part. Renewal was pretty awful, but w/e I stopped playing then.
If you look at the posts on this matter you will see plenty of support for this model. It won’t only be bad publicity.
In fact, some people who wanted this game to be B2P will be pleased at this action…people like me for example.
I don’t feel betrayed, I feel empowered to make a decision to play early, support their game, and enjoy the perks offered as part of the package.
For which u just might have to pay extra
They could simple made a founder pack with lower price, dropped the time of the EA to 2 weeks and you would see at least 50% of the community buying it to play earlier. The game still very buggy, there where some new updates on KR version, and if it is on the game core, you can expect seeing it here too, and from what i read, it is not the nice ones.
@clebinho77
Because it tells me the game is already starting to die.
It hasn’t even started, yet.
ToS isn’t some upcoming award-winning title.
It’s unfinished, unpolished, full of bugs and unproven.
(edit : apparently in ktos, it’s proven to be dead…)
@Remiri
They didn’t need to make people wait til June.
A better option would be to upgrade the founders packs with worthless ingame goodies and just have them cost the same (or more…)
The 3 months of EA is a terrible, shitty idea.
I want my money in the game to matter.
It’s why even though I can afford it, I don’t play subscriptions.
I only play randomly and sometimes take breaks to do projects and stuff. I can’t find the time/money value I’m paying for.
This would be a case of IMC killing their own community for money.
If this is the way the game is going…
I would like to be off this train to failure.
Again it’s a communication problem with the " Open beta " annoucement two weeks ago. if they said : firstly founder will play then others will come. It wouldn’t be a chaos like now.
Moreover and again, it’s not about paying, it’s not about B2P model, it’s about 3 month waiting for others to join us.
MMORPG needs to be play with a big community, i don’t care of seeing hundreds of people in main cities, i want to find them on fields, dungeons, etc.
They are effectively telling us the game will be ready for OBT in June. They do need to wait till June, but the game is available in some form until then.
I agree with putting it behind a pay wall, and a significant one at that. This will limit population on the servers and well as get more bug reports from the people who really want to see the game succeed.
I live in NYC.
One of the most expensive places in the world to live in.
What you offer to do in that case? Get two jobs, or maybe three?
No.
In that case, I would suggest the person dry the tears from their face and wait patiently until June 19th.
Even those survival mmog’s that never leave Early acess stagecough DAyzcough are cheaper than an MMORPG that is going to be F2P and have expensive micro-transactions. ToS is now an Elitist game.
I didnt do any research im just saying what I remember
imo all this talk about supporting the devs is a way to not sound mean over how selfish you are.
I mean, look at stardew valley, recently launched and the developer sold many copies at 10$, and there’s nothing more to purchase in it…I would rather sell a lot of 10$ copies and keep a fanbase that will grab more players(and buy micro transactions) over time than to sell few 50~30$ copies and have the game die and put the company name on the bad side(which they kinda already do)
dont talk about stardew being another genre, that’s obvious
I is sad… They could’ve used the hype and do sales in-game with events or whatever, but instead they do a cashgrab lol.
You flag my topic because you couldn’t handle the truth?
Cry more.
I play kToS and the game is not that buggy lol, and the bugs that exist are not game-breaking.
Ahh so much hatred~
I’m supporting @still a bit here, he seems to need it fighting with you all alone~

The only truth so far is that you nitpick arguments.
Look, people are saying lots of things.
The only real problem with the founders packs is the 3 months waiting time for freemiums. That much could’ve been replaced by any number of things without lowering the price. It’s just bad.
You attempt to have a decent argument for what you have and for something as obvious as “This is bad for the community”, you just go “crymeariver, dealwithit”.
