IMC - Help me stop my friends from quitting

Great post, bookmarked for future arguements.

Even in siaulai missions most of people take the bosses out of frostclould, zaibais, full pyromancers combos etc… for no reasons.

Well know an archer isn’t going to be ripping aggro anytime soon if you’re walking around with Agni outside of 3k mdef bosses.

But umm… you’re just being sensational and complaining about Pyro quality of life. Not their balance. No one is going to disagree with you about fireballs or enchant fire. And that feedback is fairly prevalent already.

Whole heartledly agreed. IMC just made one whole class tree useless beyond oblivion instead of balancing it out.

From Gods to Peasants.

If it was it would be featured in a Q&A.
So far I have not seen people talking about it outside the forums.

Quality of life is a big slice of a class. If the class deals a ■■■■ TON of damage but it’s literally inconsistent to the point that sometimes it will be Top DPS and sometimes it’ll be bottom DPS it means the class needs some adjustments.

Besides, quality of life means a lot in a game that is suppose to reach level 500+. Classes have to be at least enjoyable and rewarding while playing for 5k+ hours.

And I expect this for all classes, not just Pyro. Pyro is just the one I’ve experienced more.

Alright… Lets talk fireballs some more then. And increase that prevalence. Though I doubt it’ill surpass the Corsair, Thaum, and Sadhu issues.

If you were going to make an argument about pyro inconsistency in DPS. You should have gone from the angle that it isn’t in the pyros personal control whether they do well. Otherwise someone is going to read that and assume you’re just talking about skill ceiling.

And it is still skill ceiling on a low bar but it’s not the pyro themselves. And just that topic of whether players should be able to directly influence each others success is interesting one. And the philosophy changes from game to game. I think it’s a little carebear to withhold skills or abilities that cannot be influenced negatively by outside friendly players. That said. It’s annoying enough in it’s current form that a concession should be made.

Take away your fireball collusion by players other then the caster by attribute but increase the CD by a small amount when the attribute is on. Using the ability in it’s original form has difficulty for the party to play around and should be rewarded. An ease of use attribute should come at a small price.

Everything here is so spot on it hurts, honestly.

Elementalist was a lot more balanced than people gave it credit for as far as fulfilling one role really well - which is aoe damage. It did not outdo the kings of single target damage (archers) nor the kings of support (which is to say you don’t have any), and it was also as melee as any swordsman.

All the hate and OP-mongering came from basically 2 fronts:

  • Swordsman. Those were truly in a really rough spot pre-R7. Most of their skills were pure, hot garbage. The issue here lies in that instead of actually going back and fixing the skills, IMC simply decided to throw ridiculous melee/physical damage multipliers just about everywhere you can think of.

  • Wizards. Specifically, wizards who tried to play a DPS role not including wiz3, ele3 or warlock. Pyro, Psychokino, Sorc and Necro were and still are all terrible, terrible classes as far as pve goes and sadly elementalist was the only class holding the wizard DPS role together - even with how poorly designed it is (3 ranks to get what amounts to 2 skills, or really, 1 and a half)

What these 2 groups had in common was basically that they acted as if Elementalist was nerfed then suddenly the aforementioned classes could shine and be given a spot in relevant content when that simply would NOT have happened. If elementalist couldn’t fulfill its role anymore (which has come to pass now), that vacuum would simply be filled with more archers/clerics/support wizards.

You see people sporting such hatred and contempt for one another literally over what class they play. “oh u wizzes cry like lil bitches its ur turn now swordsman was trash for a long time!!”, and stuff like that is just so foreign to me. Why does it have to be anyone’s “turn”, ever? I never played a swordsman and have no desire to, but i always hoped IMC would adress their issues and fix them - specially since whenever i would try to get friends into the game they would go like “Aite imma be a swordsman” and i basically had to go like “Well…”.

Hell, i already knew Wizard dps was basically doomed after seeing their design direction on R8 and before knowing about the retarded mdef values: Taoist boosts melee by 50%, Dragoon2 boosts melee by 100%, Falconeer3 gives a 80%(?) chance to basically double up on melee damage, a ■■■■■■■ +140% crit damage multiplier on fencer3, Murmillo bringing 400-500% damage buffs to low cd skills that already had a 430% damage multiplier + 250% strike debuffs from that class alone. All the while magic still has quickcast as its sole multiplier, which barely breaks even with the ability to crit that physical damage has.

Agni necklace illustrates this issue pretty well, isn’t it hilarious that it took the quadrupling of nearly every pyro skill to make them relevant again? Doesn’t that raise some redflags about how you’re designing your game, and how you attempt to “patch” issues instead of fixing them at their core? Btw, the necklace still doubles Plague Doctor’s main source of damage as well as… Meteor - which’s a big contestant for worst Ele skill, and will continue being so even dealing double damage.

P.S. Miko also buffs melee by another 70%, so that’s another one to throw into the mix i guess :information_desk_person:

Could you give some examples then of other classes and their main DPS skill being completely nullified by something as common as half the classes in the game auto-attacking? Otherwise you basically have to accept that wether or not you think that it’s a little “carebear” the truth is that for this game, Fireball is the outlier.

Fireball’s actually so cancer that even if Pyros are made into relevant or even top DPS with agni necklace i would never actually make one - that’s how bad it feels to play.

You’re as dramatic as Yamashio. I run a Pyro myself and don’t take issue with it. No it’s not easy mode lolol I press this button to spread fire half the screen in front of me like Magic Missile.

If you loathe core gameplay of the class that much don’t play it. It’s not much different then being someone that like myself that loathes many of the brainless classes. That do just get buttons for blow up everything standing in front of them or blow up mob standing slightly further in front of them.

Ok so you can’t. Fireball is the outlier among hundreds of skills in the game :kissing_closed_eyes:

well, 48k ppl quit tos, lets say 90% of that just trying out new game

but about 5k legit enthusiast players quit as well with legit issue.

april-may is the crucial time for ppl to gauge imc’s competency, but imc so far, is far from being good.

5k players now is only clinging on…

at most, tos n imc is just an average thingy…

now, when will imc start to turn a new leaf n really live up to the standard?

good luck to u guys~

rank8 content is a joke.

…

my suggestion, make a test server montly reset with 1000% exp/silver rate, 50% droprate, and imc can test all their idea in the test server

i dont even mind if the test server is in korean language
i dont even mind paying subscription to access test server

imc, stop killing your own game

I must say OP you’re friends did the right thing

I wasn’t avoiding that question. It’s just wasn’t worth replying to.

[Points at every CC in an MMO that broke on dmg ever. And lets not forget about DoTs and CC]

OP just quit and get lost.

What are you even going on about? Legit explain 2 me how CC is in the same boat as Fireball.

If you’re choosing what to reply to you are failing to discuss.
If you think Pyro is fine as is. By all means, shush. Also about priorities, I never said it should be more important than other classes like the Sadhu you’re jumping to conclusions and understanding what people write as you please.

The matter of fact is. It needs adjustments. Now if it’s super important or not is irrelevant for this discussion.

I just hate to see people arguing over a point that was made and it’s proven.

A class being nice and rewarding to play is not equal to being easy mode. Please don’t bring bullshit into this matter.

Cause if that’s the case all builds work and the game is balanced, people are just bad at all classes except the metas cause they are easy mode.

No. Classes like Sadhu, Pyro, Paladin, Corsair, Sorcerers, they all have issues that render them either useless, weak or annoying to play with (Or even straight up bugged or missing features it should have).

Pyros would be one of the annoying to play with because they can be utterly screwed by any auto-attack in the game or simply moving the monster away. The only plus the class should have would be Enchant Fire but people don’t even level it up because it’s range is so ■■■■■■ up that it’s useless during combat. Nearly impossible to buff your team.

Don’t bother with Raspy he’s a masochist. This guy loves all the frustrations and annoyances that IMC pumps out. And he will defend them till the end of the world.

Pretty much agree with everything you said. I didn’t say they were leaving cause they were no longer OP. I said they were leaving because the balance is stupid.

Not sure if you responded to the right person, but, I at least was trying to point out that your assessment of the game’s situation (fix mdef and people will come back) is at best a shallow first step to the real problem: IMC’s incompetency.

Sorry your friends are leaving. As you can see, it’s hard to ask them to stay. If I weren’t playing a class that didn’t get hue’d into the sunset I’d probably leave too. The points I bring up are hardly novel after all and recent player-created media brought these points to light better than I could ever describe.
