I'm starting to feel like you guys hate us Hunters

I think one of the best ways to make hunters really unique is to change the circle 3 growl skill into this 2 skills:

Companion Riding

A bit similar to SRs but is a lesser version. It only allows the hunter to auto attack while mounted. Use of any skill (hunter or pet) the hunter will dismount and the pet will use the skill.

This allows the hunter and pet to function both as one and also as separate, making it really interesting to play. (Of course you can do the same by taking SR too but it will be really weird since SR skills need to be mounted)

Fling

A combination move with retrieve. The companion grabs the monster it is retrieving and flings it towards the monster the hunter is attacking, dealing AOE splash damage in that area.

This also allows many unique playstyles as hunters can take all those small adds the boss summons and fling them at the boss to deal damage.

I couldn’t be more in agreement with you, what this class needs right now is an entire gameplay and mechanics redesign, a way to interact more eficiently with your companion. A feature with battle stances for the companion, a better way of restoring their HP aswell as buffing them (and not just that Praise crab), and a new alternative for training the companion, perhaps something more interactive like with those training dummies?

And i don’t think Growling is as useless as it appears to be, it was hard to notice at first but it seems like the wide rangue of the ability has been sightly increased aswell as the amount of mobs that it can handle. The only way that they could make this skill more efective is making it into a toggle skill that you can activate/deactivate whenever your want, aswell as a way for the Hunter to lure the mobs towards the companion, maybe the same as linkers do but without the damage sharing stuff. I was thinking about something involving a lasso around the wave of mobs and then constricting them towards you.

Fling

This one is a really nice idea for a skill since the only AoE attack that we have atm is Rush Dog.

Btw, mine is at same level as yours, but with 50%. (Yes, i felt that weak…)

And i think that’s exactly what they do as if programming a decent AI for dogs was just too much for them handle.

Thanks man, but tbh, even with the fact that i love this class i don’t recommend it unless you have an extremely high amount of patience because learning to work with this messy AI takes a long time, even i am still learning how to deal with my green partner.

It’s true though currently pets can die pretty quickly, even with millions sunk into stats. Updated last post to include a possible attribute lol

That’s why i think they should add more attributes that involve increasing your pet characteristics. AND LET’S NOT FORGET ABOUT THOSE EMPTY ITEM SLOTS ON THE DOG’S INTERFACE, i hope they do something good with those.

btw if u summon your pet (esp on pvp) u are doing it wrong

treat pets like ninja. they can do rush dog, coursing, snatching, whatevs, even if inactive (turn off from F9). even rush dog dmg won’t be shown and got stacked hidden until enemy take real damage

bonus if u take scout’s cloaking, u can do ninja rush dog without both of you appearing (rush dog = pet damage, doesnt break cloaking)

best. synergy. ever.

I… I didn’t know about this… why is this allowed?
Not trying to argue with you or anything but i think these are the kind of things that prevents us to get a decent rework for our class because probably IMC believes that, since this class is PvP oriented, is ok as it is atm.

But hey, nice info there. Unfortunately i got another plans for my path as a hunter so i’ll be suffering all those one shots at TBL for as long as i get to rank 7/8.

IMC has serious issues with AI. And there they are, promising another failure for alchemists c3. Amazing ideas, terrible execution. Sigh.

Suggestion: create/allow an addon for the players be able to program their own AI, as Ragnarok (yep, him again) did have. That turned the dumb homunculus into something pretty good, back then.

Heck, turn that into a one-time contest if you don’t want to allow customization. At least we’ll get some fix.

We’ve been receiving plenty of suggestions for new functions meant to
improve the convenience of playing with companions, some of them rather
interesting, so we’ll definitely keep reviewing those. Right now we’re
thinking of developing a set of hotkeys or commands that would allow you
to interact with a companion or use its functions without opening the
corresponding UI.

Originally, the HP and Stamina of companions weren’t designed to
reset after each round of Team Battle League matches. After receiving
more feedback from the players, however, especially those with classes
that rely on companions for combat, we have decided to actively review
our original design and consider resetting these stats for companions as
well.

Well, even if Homunculus are supposed to have their own AI i don’t think i’d be as complicated as Hunter’s Companion is, since the only thing, at least as long as i know, that Homunculos are programmed for is to reproduce a few of your character’s abilities. Then again, i believe they’re gonna have the same prioritizing issue that companions have atm, attacking units that are not players or even other player’s companions aswell. (Well, this last one has a little bit of sense)
Just picture yourself playing as a Hunter, trying to defeat a wave of monters by your own while your trustful friend is miles away from you Coursing on a fireball…

And unfortunately IMC doesn’t allow us to modify the gameplay of the game, because if they’d allow that, this would be a very, VERY different situation.

IMC, at least, allow us to load our pet into our canon :o

I highly support this.

Give the Hunter another class attribute.

“Pet toggle On/Off Delay is dropped to 2 seconds”

And add a shortcut to toggle the companions if there isn’t one cause I can’t find it and having to F9 everytime is really annoying.

Now I can finally use the stupid thing without relying on penguin mounting to reset the AI after every coursing, or to watch it do absolutely nothing after getting knocked back once by an enemy at 0 stamina because the pathing no longer work properly anymore.

Was about to reply with the same points, but yep these are so true. My ex-main Hunter is just a dungeoner now.
