I'm so confused on what to play

I’ve been looking over all the class forums, the builders, the Tosbase pages and youtube for something that jumps out at me and for the first time a game has truly stumped me on what to play. So many classes, with so many options and so many ways to mesh or not mesh together @.@

Can anyone give me a hand or at least point me in a direction to something close to these guidelines… (I will obviously look at the classes/builds myself and make a choice but a little push in a direction would be nice)

  1. I’m a solo player. I may meet people in game but 90% of my play time will be solo.

  2. I’m a PvE player. I won’t PvP, at all.

  3. I want to hold my own as a player so I won’t be full support because like stated before I solo mostly.

  4. I like the idea of AoE farming

  5. Having some party buffs would be cool in case I do party for endgame content or such.

  6. LONG castbar’s look painful to watch or play with to me. Only from the videos i’ve watched anyways

  7. I don’t want to ride ANYTHING. I think it looks stupid/ not my cup of tea

Anyone who’s played the game read that and think “hey that sounds like X class” ? If so please let me know so i can research it. Thanks in advance, I really like the TOS community.

P.S. I have read large general warrior, Cleric, Archer and wizard guides but find the large amount of info hard to process and compare with all 4 classes at the same time. Although they are very well written, especially the warrior one.

these builds i will play.
1st main build:

0 dex - high strength - ? con,
i might add more con if i end up playing much solo.
i choose this build because i don’t want many skills on early ranks.

optional:

and as second main:

not sure about kneeling shot, i might put 0 points into that.

Clerics work pretty well for solo. I’ll address each thing you want.

  1. I played cleric in CBT, did well and rarely joined a party
  2. I never tried pvp so idk
  3. First circle gives heal and safety zone. from there you can pick dps circles
  4. krivis and druid have strong AOE spells. monk and paladin have melee skills
  5. Daino, heal, safety zone, zalcai. you can pick up priest if you want more
  6. all the skills i mentioned are instacast. very few channeled spells
  7. no mounts

Sounds to me you might like to go cleric>Krivis 2. after that its up to preference. Druid has a nice aoe so you might want to end up there

sorry i cant be more detailed and im sure there are spelling errors. dont have time to make it really neat right now :frowning:

ps. krivis and druid have strong aoe spells, but cooldowns are kind of long. it will be kind of like: nuke>throw some autoattacks/run around>nuke>rinse and repeat. I will be like that til you get past krivis, then idk cuz i didnt make it really far past that during lasy CBT

Personally im going sadhu, but im not sure if youd like it.

Some nice builds. Your first one looks really strong, the second one isn’t my cup of tea (i don’t really like spears much) and the third I have no idea about Wugushi at all.

There’s been 2 archer builds i’ve been tossing around in my head for a bit.

It’s something different to the old regular bow user and gets some crazy attack speed but lacks hard AoE until Rank 7 which is basically forever away. It does get some decent AoE with Teardown, caltrops, etc and can aggro mobs with caltrops/pavise too.

This one is a skill spammer but has amazing spammable AoE quicker than the other build and still retains good single target dps with fletcher especially. This is more of the common archer style and I may get bored with it because of that reason. Although, it is for sure the more safe route of the 2 i’d say.

Cleric seem decent…they don’t have anything that jumps out to me and have a clear difference in classes as you go along. I agree with Cleric > Krivis C2 as it has alot of what I asked for, in fact all of it. After that it gets strange…

  • Sadhu bomb skill looks cool for sure and those quick attacks are neat but outside of those 2 things their other skills confuse me @.@

  • Paladin would be my favorite choice for my next class but then i’m a int paladin? Does that even work? I could prob swing Dex though…

  • I’d end on Druid for strong AoE.

So that would give me Cleric> Krivis C2 > Paladin C2 or C3 > Druid C1 or C2 idk how viable that is? i assume my stats would be int based.

Builds i’d prob do would be …

Honestly been hearing bad things about paladin lately and idk how viable any of those builds would be. I know i’d be pretty hard to kill though.

spam AoE looks fun to play
i played something like this in cb2 it does cost some gold on sp pots, not sure how that is now.
i would put 0 points in critical shot instead, 1 oblique shot is already sufficient
serving as a spam able 0CD skill. (or critcal shot 1 - oblique shot 0)

(also time bomb does no AoE/splash damage, its misleading…)

looking at both your builds i would do something like this:

Swift Step has an atribute that gives bonus Critical Rate at lvl 10
it is also very usefull as you will be circiling around mobs while shooting arrows, very usefull for solo play
Full draw is good at lvl 7, fast charge time and knock back.
i was not a fan of kneeling shot at cb2, dont know how that is improved
atm.
i think fletcher and cannoneer gives sufficient AoE, so ranger might not be necessary.

i don’t know why but Monk came to my mind.

Yea i’m a bit worried about pot spamming on the ranger build for sure. I like most of your edits on it too. For the QS build I was going for more a quick attack speed and AoE when optimal and I honestly think if your taking QS at all you’re going C3 with it for running shot to combine with kneeling to make you a turret.

Also does Swift step have to be level 10 for the bonus crit rate? I thought you only needed Archer C2 to unlock the attribute.

Finally do you think Fletcher C1 is worth anything over Falconer? I could go Archer C2 > QS C3 > Fletcher > Cannon. It offers insta AoE where Falconer offers a kind of AoE with Hovering but has synergy with cannoneer with the Circling skill. There is also other classes like Rogue, etc but idk alot about them so idk if there’s synergies there. (could also opt for musket instead of cannon but I lose AoE to become a machine gun that will quickly melt things)

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve seen alot of QQ as of late with former monk players saying Double punch is too slow, not enough AoE and need no CD to become good + the beam skill thats really iconic isn’t as amazing outside PvP as people make it out to be because of knockback/lower dmg + hard road to monk because stats.

Maybe I just read the 2 only bad posts from monk players. I’ll still look into it in the morning and see what I can come up with with some help from community topics.
