is cloud-based antivirus reliable? Going to uninstall AVG and looking for low resource replacement for my old laptop.
Thatâs a horrible comparison. Thatâs like saying âWhy do people say killing dogs causes cat supremacy? Iâve been killing dogs for 12 years and I did not get lung cancer.â
If someone gets an actual virus, itâs most likely their own fault.
No, itâs not a horrible comparison.
You should finish reading my post, because in the sentences after what i wrote about smoking i explained what i meant with my analogy.
Also : Who would say killing dogs causes cat supremacy?
And your second sentence does not make sense, first you say connect dog killing with cat supremacy and then you connect dog killing with lung cancer instead. That doesnât make any sense.
Still, canât hurt to be sure and have an AV programm running, just in case the unlikely case of not being at fault happens.
Yes it is.
Sorry, I thought I could ignore that part. Let me finish reading your post:
âJust because Iâm not stupid doesnât mean others arenât stupid.â is what youâre trying to say, right? At least in this whole computer virus thing, right? Doesnât make your comparison any better.
Detecting sarcasm isnât your strongest point is it?
Oh sure! I advise most of my family and friends who are inexperienced with the interwebs to run one.
^This
same with me too
for those too dense to know or are too busy fighting like small kidsâŚ
Adload_r is a malicious application that allows hackers to remotely
access your computer system letting them modify files, steal personal
information and install more unwanted software. These kinds of threats,
called Trojan horse,
must be sent to you by someone or carried by another program. They may
also arrive thanks to unwanted downloads on infected websites or
installed with online games or other internet-driven applications.
as for if false positive or notâŚ
@STAFF_Ines @STAFF_John @STAFF_Ethan could the staff investigate this?_?

No. Absolutely not, you got it all wrong.
Sarcasm in written text is harder to detect, especially if you donât know the person, so considering i donât know you you meaning your post with the dog cat lung cancer serious was quite a possibility.

Itâs a bad comparison, but otakuâs counter example was not good.
Otaku was saying that you shouldnât be stupid enough to download/click on something you shouldnât (aka; you shouldnât smoke), that way you have no risk of virus (lung cancer).
So to accurately do your comparison, it would be:
âWhy do people say smoking can cause cancer? Iâve avoided smoking for 80 years and I did not get lung cancer.â
Which⌠does not prove that not running an antivirus is badâŚ
(And of course, is still a bad comparison because it doesnât account for second hand smoking, genetics or other carcinogenic things that can give a non-smoker lung cancer.)
Ontopic; probably just whitelist it. Likely a false-positive.
Not quite. Spam mails often contain viruses, of course you can just not open their attachments.
But you still can get malware via security holes from Java and Flash and it can be hard to prevent that unless you set them up so that they only execute after confirmation. Flash usually closes security holes fairly fast so if you stay updated you are usually safe. Java however can be a real problem, though you can just uninstall it really. =p
Yes, i do too. AVG deleted my ToS Client because of Trojan and AdWare being detected.
Why the heck people use more than 1 AV? Its dumb and cause problems, not to say that make the machine slower due to all the scanning activity.
Keep this BS out of your system, do you access too many porn sites that you have to use 2 condoms?
I use the built-in WinDefender and i am fine so far, i know where to go in the interweebz, not gonna say i donât access porn sites lol, but i at least pay attention on what the site is trying to install, and i never install any â â â â on my browser except from the chrome add site and only what i need (which is just 3 or 4 addons).
Aw iâm suffering the same issue XD
YOU!!! OP!!! YOU Extracted a Zip File name ââADD ONSââ in your TOS folder, then you didnât now that there are trojans inside the zip tooâŚ
Just a theoryâŚ
People are talking about the ToS_Client.exe⌠Not some lua files.
I literally use no Anti-Virus because they get in the way more then they help.
I also havenât had a virus since i was ~12 and learnt to internet properly.
Im fine im betting that virus originated some where else first.
Could also be a false read.
Updated: Rebooted the computer and managed to get on the internet.
Here is what Iâm getting so far.
This probably might be a false report from AVG but who know? Hopefully the staff investigate this as soon as possible. For now, Iâm laying off ToS for a few days to see if this happen again.
Woa so many AVG users
Years ago AVG was actually decent but then there were a couple times it went WEEKS without being able to update and eventually the whole thing just became a bloated wreck full of unnecessary features etc.
I switched to avira a long long time ago and still use it and it works perfectly fine. Really there are several free alternatives these days that are all just fine.
