Idle aggro priority for mobs

Hello guys I am relatively new to the game and I’d like to ask if someone knows how idle aggro priority works for mobs.

I know afk-farming with the pet is kinda frowned upon by a part of the community but I don’t have much time to play so I often leave the character idle in the Crystal Mines, so that at least the pet farms me a bit of money to compensate for the little time I have to grind it myself.

Yet so far I still haven’t figured out with which criteria or algorithm the game assigns mob aggro if all characters in the zone are idle: I though it would go for the lowest level players (and maybe even pets) first and so on but I’ve noticed instead that it’s not the case. What surprises me is that some specific players (of either lower or higher level than my current character) simply cater all mob aggro just by being there doing nothing like everyone else, literally every mob in range rushes to them no matter proximity or any other factor.

So does anyone know how this works? Thank you in advance.

Some swordies may have their Provoke attribute on so that could help them pull aggro better passively.

AFAIK, provoke attribute or aggro stats aside, it’s based on proximity and RNG (if two or more players/pets/summons are within aggro range of the monster from where it spawned).

Also, AFK-farming with pet (AKA companion e.g. hoglan, vel, pengu, etc.) is ok. AFK-farming using summons like T.Shooter alongside an auto-potting mechanism (macro software, addon, whatever) is a grey area.

Dana Bee Farm is freaking retarded now, all you see is Summoned monsters, Temple shoter specially, “stealing” all the mobs there, every single channel is like that is f*cking retarded if you ask me. And no, afk farming should be penalized. Same goes with “permanent” or “offline” vending, that shiz is what takes resources like a mothertrucker off the servers.

Thank you for the reply. Yeah I know some people autopot with demons or use macros, it’s easy to recognize them.

I think the algorithm for aggro ha something weird in its coding, hopefully doesn’t factor also character names or other weird things… I have noticed at least a couple of guys that afk farm often and they can literally sit in the middle of the Vubbe Miner spawn spot and literally everything simply rushes to them no matter what… maybe they have a superhigh level pet and the game goes for the higher average than player + pet level instead than the lower as I though.
Thank you for the fast replay, really appreciated.

It’s possible they did one of the quests that makes all mobs aggro to you.

Could you share me the quest name, as I said I’m new and I have no idea where/what is it?

well thats just a pro of being a summon class, stop being jealous, i am completely fine with soreres and necro afk farming, i just wish they would acept party requests

you can be fine or wrong with whatever you want, just don’t go trying to look those with different opinion over the shoulder mr dwarf

I have been a summoner and am a necro…

I dislike AFK farming, I think it’s cheap and insulting to the class…

to me there is no difference between afk human and a bot

I keep seeing this phenomenon more and more, looks like someway a lot of people are abusing the aggro bug. How comes this is not fixed yet?

What agro bug? First I’ve heard of it.

Did you misunderstood? It could be a quest retained by players solely for aggro

Ok but this is really working as intended or it’s basically a bug exploit?

I am not sure too. Not a pro myself to answer this question. Just remember that i saw some post about it.

Anyways, it still haven’t become such a serious problem that elites come out clear misunderstanding or IMC releasing notice.

If it’s a bug (e.g. high aggro level should only be during the quest duration yet it persists outside) and a player is using it to gain advantage over others (unnaturally aggroing all the mobs on the screen to himself), then it becomes an exploit.

There were reports submitted here in the forums months ago about this bug, I’m too lazy to search and am not sure if that was ever resolved, but it appears people either accidentally or intentionally reproduced the issue.

Since it is such a lowlvl area, you could make a Cryo and push away the competition with icewalls.

I’m still not understanding the fuss when it comes to Necro 2s afk farming at Dina Bees. It’s inefficient since mobs starts respawning outside of your summons agro range.

Sorc’s Temple Shooter I understand since it has a long attack range. But Necro? Nah.

I’ve been directly confirmed by one of these exploiters that he and other people intentionally trigger the bug and don’t complete the quest to have permaaggro and easy time farming when afk. This is not working as intended at all. Should I submit a ticket? This shìt needs to be addresses asap.

Can you define what is “working as intended”?
Do you want to punish people for not completing certain quests? Then you need to punish a whole lot of people using quest teleports to bypass warp costs.

Don’t try to pretend you’re retarded, you know these are totally different things. Also keeping quests unfinished to have cheap warps doesn’t go to the detriment of other players gaming experience, getting permaaggro is basically like mana pot botting on a Sorcerer in term of farming, since it produces the very same result. Not working as intended, period.

Sadly, this does not go against the experience of others. The quest relevant vubbe is ignored by pets. Unless it stands on top of another mob being hit by a pet, it will not be killed. What other experience? Does AFK experience even count?
IMC is well aware of this issue, cause in the beginning, the quest vubbe was also killed, thus hurting the quest progress of others.
