Tree of Savior Forum

IDK bout you peeps, but fellas, I think P2P is the best way for this game to endure and survive in MMO harsh market

uhh…has anyone agreed on anything so far?? there’s too much text at this point to bother reading it all lol

The debate is still going between P2P,F2P,B2P. I summarize that most people here do not prefer P2P.

I saw one reason people dislike P2P (not here, somewhere else) is because they have to pay the game twice. Buy the game (and each expansion), and pay the subscription.
But what if you don’t have to buy the game, just paying the subs. Like RO in the past.

And speaking of RO’s P2P era, how much did it cost back then in iRO? And other servers too maybe? It was around 6~7 USD/month (using 2003ish exchange rate) in idRO back then iirc.

iRO at most was $12/mo. (if you only bought 1 month at a time) and at least $10/mo. (if you bought the 6-month deal). They also offered a 30-hour subscription ($7), which could be stretched over several months if you really try (which I did and ended up paying about $14/yr. to play :P).

I like warframe’s system.
UBER cosmetics option, but all important items that can be purchased conveniently can also be obtained in REGULAR events (weekly/monthly, not annual). Not too hard to get either.

.

Agreed!
But please, no bitchass megacar riding loli. (READ: Dragon Nest bullshit & illogical mounts).

I read in my country’s DN, publishers are gonna add UFOs as mounts xD.

I feel like OP created this thread for pointless banter when he knows the obvious answer is F2P, or stretching it, B2P.
Seriously ask yourselves does ToS deserve the P2P treatment?

Someone pointed out one important thing above.
Most gamers will go with P2P scheme provided that those games actually worth their money.

People also cited FF14.
Great and engaging story, amazing visuals, exciting raids, new contents every 3 months, generally shitloads of stuffs to do in game when you’re not grinding. It’s money well spent for me.
WoW is, well, being WoW.

Games like AION and TERA failed their P2P model because once you hit endgame pvp and RvR, there’s nothing else to do in the game and it’s not updated fast enough.

Now ToS? Any of you honestly think the content is enough to warrant a P2P treatment?

Please don’t wear your nostalgia “but previously RO was P2P” goggle.
That was RO back when there were literally no competitors, this is ToS presently with tons of F2P competitors.
Presently we have tons of F2P MMO that can provide similar or even better entertainment value than the old RO.

If you want to go P2P and survive in the current market, your game needs to be as solid as FF14 and WoW.

Dude, you and I are in the same country. Apparently true that they’ll add UFO. Seriously, I still tolerate dragon mounts since it is ‘Dragon’ Nest. But cars? In a rather medieval game? NOPE.

Meh, my short-term memory is rather funny. I tend to forget things, so my bad then x_x
Btw, yep. I did laugh when I found people riding cars in DN while playing CN server. Why on earth would they put that kind of ‘mount’. They even have discoballs in it.

Much troll.Such troll topic.

I did enjoy my TERA , police car riding bikini loli xD

i hope it will be buy to play, not pay to play…

No I’m not trolling. I just wanna know what y’all think. I apologise if my thread offends you fellas or have created unnecessary conflicts. I read the whole thread, not yet all posts, but gonna re-read the whole thread. I’m still processing everything I’ve read so far. Maybe I’ll add some serious opinion on the matter later. Anyway, sorry again

I’m going to have to agree here.

I don’t see ToS successfully starting off P2P. Although it has a longstanding fan base from RO, and will be available on Steam for an even larger playerbase. It doesn’t seem to have the fan base that WoW or the FF series (11/14) has. I may be wrong, but it’ll need something equivalent to even attempt being a successful P2P.

Also IMC is very used to the F2P model, there’s no reason to change.

I’ll agree with @Erokhi as well here for everyone continuing this thread:

If it becomes a Buy to play game, the existence of the cash shop is still a real possibility to help the developer support the game long term. It also houses the possibility of buying new DLC, like a retail game would, or for an MMO example - World of War Craft. In the long term, selling the game at retail will be just like purchasing a F2P game or a DLC heavy retail game (Destiny) depending on what business model IMCGames want to go with…

P2P is a good idea if the game has a playerbase that fits in this type of market. idk if its the case of ToS.

However, P2P is the best way imo.

Gotta say I’m a Free player because I still studying, I have to study one more year before I can get my job. I’m glad that IMCgames decided F2P for ToS.

Been waited for ToS since they release the first trailer in 2013, when I saw that trailer I found out that this game will be the last MMORPG that I take serious and stick with it in a long time.

-I start making a thread about ToS in our famous game forum. Gather all info from Devblog, fansite, reddit, facebook…and translates them all for other gamers in my country. Most fansites and game website gather ToS info from my little thread. I’m the only one in my country who actually care about ToS and willing to spend time to translates every single post from those websites.
-I fought for ToS when Ragnarok fanboys try to extinguish the hype that I built for it.
-When CBT 1&2 finish, many gamers think the gameplay isn’t really good (because of quest driver), they got mad and told me that ToS is nothing compare to RO, I tried to explain and calmed them all. Many people called me blind fanboy just because I protects ToS from misinformation and harasses.

But now when CBT 3 is near, a lot of those gamers are saving their money for ToS.

To all players that want this game to be B2P/F2P, just because we can’t pay for the game, doesn’t mean we all are “not smart” and can’t support it, I surely will pay for this game whenever I can, but not yet.

BTW I was a fan of Ragnarok and Granado espada as well. There is no MMORPG that can please me like IMCgames’ did.

It’s really sad how some users here treat players that can’t afford monthly sub.
I’m not rich, but I’ll be happy to support ToS if they have an optional Subscription + item shop.
They can also have initial B2P Early Access in Steam, which would be also great to kickstart the game.

The thing is, you need to support the things you enjoy or they disappear. : )

And if you’re truly rich, you wouldn’t mind that someone out there will enjoy the game for free thanks to your support.
Otherwise you’re just a “very rich” internet person.
Saying that players are “bad” and “stingy” if they can’t afford a subscription only shows haw “bad” and “stingy” you are, and I would pay double if that gets rid of people like you : )
Especially in this nice game.

My opinion is that ToS should be F2P with a Sub option and Item shop with cosmetics
