Idea TO CRIPPLE BOTS and SPAMMERS

I had heard of ideas like using captcha to stop botting problems.
Many players hate this idea because it disturbs their gameplay experience, not because it cannot work.
Currently, we can right-click and report a player if we think that he is a bot. But immediate action is not taken.

I suggest that when a player reported a player, it prompt a captcha for that player. Without completing the captcha will result in not able to chat, trade, attack, use skills, etc. After a player had completed the captcha, he is not able to be prompt another captcha for a set amount of time.

What do you guys think? Please give it a bump if you like it.

Thank you.

No. Any sort of capcha system is an abhorrently bad idea. All that will happen is that people will abuse it.

Ontop of that, I struggle A LOT with capchas and I know I am not the only one, so should I sit there and not be able to play the game, just because I struggle, or should I be automatically banned just because I enter it wrong?

It’s a flawed suggestion that will only lead to problems and also…This is a game, not a website registration. Keep Captchas out of the game.

your concern here is that you are afraid to type in a wrong answer and got banned isn’t it? Wel,l that is up to the DEV to choose a better one. Maybe the DEV can even make one that relates to the game and not just a “what so you see in this picture?”

Overall I just want to suggest ** something that requires the accused player to respond, else he will not be able to continue to spam, kill mobs, etc**, it does not have to be a captcha.

bad players will abuse it, imagine when you killing world boss, suddenly a captcha pop out and you not able to do anything, and you get killed by the boss.

To fix this issue, give about a time frame(e.g 30 mins) to respond to the captcha and after responded to the captcha, you will repel from captcha for time frame(e.g 60mins, 120mins) and some random 1% to 5% single buff(attack, crit rate, crit atk, exp, anything not OP buff)

Welcome to World Boss X. Where everyone reports everyone else to prevent them from doing damage so that they are the only ones who end up getting loot.

Or welcome to PvP where the enemy team reports your team so they can kill you while you “respond” to whatever thing it is.

Welcome to GvG where the enemy guild mass reports your guild and kills you while you’re responding.

Even if there’s a cooldown period so that they can only get the prompt to pop up once for you, it is still enough to grief the opposing person.

Heck, it works with just regular mobs. Just report the person trying to kill mobs, while they respond you can kill steal them all you like!

No DEV will allow this feature to be used during times like Instanced dungeon or PVP or GVG. Because Bots do not go there. Because Bots cannot farm there. These events are not available at all time. Simply disable this during those time that you mentioned will do.

…or let mobs kill them.

Excuse me? Have you played ANY other mmo with instanced PvP? Botting is something a ton of people do in PvP, a prime example is World of Warcraft. So you’re wrong, people WILL bot in there.

Also there’s a GvG system outside in the world too. You can make a guild your nemesis and it allows you to kill those players in the world. Alas again, it can be abused.

That is another point that I did not even consider and by far shows how easy it is to abuse a system like this. Even if not a captcha, if anyone has to respond to something. It means they can during that time be killed.

I will alter your idea and make it less annoying…

instead of captcha, just do a forced sit instead…

that will be less annoying and easy to get off from by normal players…

there also needs to be a limit of 1 report per person and of course the punishment for fake reporting need to be harsh…

You are wrong. Why I said bots will not go there is because:

  • There is no reward doing PVP now, botting there will not be beneficial.

  • There are limited numbers of times for GVG and instanced dungeon.

  • Player can only be killed this way in open world, there is no gain for other players other than pranks.

We need the players to do something about the bots. the admins are not there 100% of the time and do not react instantly. If you have a better way please enlighten us.

Hmm… great approach. thanks for sharing.

I can simply suggest that we need a system where player ourselves can do a part in stopping bots more effectively.

we need more ideas!!! XD

agree that it can be used in wrong ways, and somehow all solutions seem to be easy to abuse  but the bot problem is getting worse and worse…

I don’t agree as well because i can foresee people being a complete ass to annoy the hell out of their friends using that function, kinda like nudging yea?

What i would like to see is an employed community GM or sort, one whose main duty for being employed is to keep hackers, gold sellers and exploiters at bay. For example they can use a program to monitor the number of times report button is being used on a single person in game, and when it hits an alarming number, lets just say for example, 50 reports from 50 different people, go in game and check that player out, from there take screen shots or video of what the player is doing as evidence and drop the freaking ban hammer on them. If a person is heavily suspicious the community GM can create a post on the forum to gather different views and allow the community to vote whether the shady player deserve a ban, or temporary suspension of sort.

Most importantly this community GM cannot have other sub duties like lets just say managing advertising channels such as their facebook and twitter accounts, if not they will not have the capacity to administer a fair gameplay. They can have shifts and what not but must be constantly monitoring the players, kinda like a security guard ya know?

This is one way to counter botters, hackers and exploiters, act faster than they can profit !!! Of course and they have to post banned names weekly and be as transparent and firm as possible in their actions to deter future exploiters who attempt to take the shortcut or profit at the expense of others.

Bots need somewhere to drop their loot… Adding captcha to warp points/ map exits would significantly hinder bots’ ability farm effectively and cannot be abuse by players like those mentioned above (only affects one character i.e. you).

Wouldn’t it be hilarious to see them cuddle statues/ map exits and not being able to do anything?
