My suggestion is:
Add a prompt to query the user if they are sure they want to proceed upon walking over an arrow trigger to transition to a different area.
This benefits 3-fold in (at least my opinion) order of descending importance:
-
There are a lot of times where I’ve walked past places like the Highlander Master’s Training Hall in Klaipeda with no intention of going in only to have 30 sec of my time wasted in loading screens. With the query, only one second would be wasted, if that (but keep it click-closable only for reason #3).
-
Correct me if I’m wrong if this doesn’t happen server-side, but it would cut down on some of the server bandwidth/resources, albeit probably to a slight extent but considering how easy this would be to implement, I would think the benefits are worth it for this alone (unless every transition trigger has to be manually changed, at which point that’s just bad on whoever developed the game engine ToS is based on)
-
It could potentially halt automated botters (especially if the click-to-confirm button can be generated in random areas of the screen not so much that it’s additionally more annoying to the genuine end user but enough to impede automated botters). Even if it isn’t able to stop them, it’ll at least make botting exponentially more annoying, which could be enough of a deterrence on its own from opportunistic people who want to bot, whether to get ahead or just to farm silver for income (which is just sad commentary on the quality of life of places that actually can make a RL income from doing that).
Anyway, comments and criticisms are welcome, and thank you for reading.
