So if a linker links your ice wall to a boss, is that just a complete waste of ice wall as it will get destroyed in a second or does every hit done to the boss causes the ice wall to throw shards (regardless of the type of hit eg cleric auto attack vs archer auto attack)?

What about when it comes to damage sharing? Eg. elementalist electrocute hits boss 4 times, then bounces to hit 4 ice wall 4 times each?
It is not always a complete waste. If you have a Wugu and Cryo you can use the ice wall to link such that the poison extra damage attribute applies. Just as an example.
But yes, in general it is wasted. 
I can imagine that they wanted this combo to exist otherwise linking ice walls wouldn’t be possible. The problem is the burst would be insane and probably a lagfest as you hit the boss, all ice walls get triggered and also hit the boss for a lot of hits which even more triggers the ice wall. That would instantly shatter the wall and drop a huge amount of damage - removed for safety I guess.
